i weighed in the day after logging in on here and i managed to lose 1lb over christmas and the new year. Just need to go downwards, but i'm really happy with that result. I'm going to have a go on the calorie counter site even if i have to lie about my weight.0

Hi Lostinrates, good to see you again (((((hugs)))) I have added you and fatcattaff to the first post (if I have missed anyone off, please shout).
I have just booked a holiday to Turkey for 3 weeks, flying out on 3rd Feb. I don't know if I'll have regular internet access, so if someone is willing to take on February's half stone challenge, that would be great (I'll take over again for March).
Those of you who were on the December challenge may remember that I stuck at 12st 4lbs for ages and then suddenly broke through the barrier and started losing again. Well it has happened again. I weighed in on Monday at 12.25 st.... and am still there. It is SOOoooo annoying, as there is no valid reason for it!!!
Oh well, there is still three days to go until Monday's weigh in, maybe the scales will start moving again by then!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

Oh, be careful Dragon! Its lethal on the ice ATM.
Well, I hate pr-prepared food, but today had some Tesco's Scotch Broth and it was LOVELY! I'm almost certainly going to go and buy some for myself next week, I'd really rcommend it for those who do like cooking free options. Families not dieting along side can always bulk it out with some bread and butter, or have it alongside something else.
OK, crazy tip from me, I was given my parnts old tv at Christmas, whohoo, and so I'm indulging in some evening tv watching, but I've given som of the
adverts a manditory exercising theme, so there is one that when ever it comes on I have to get up and do some arm exercises, one I have to do sit ups to, and one I do girls push ups to. My knees are a bit dodgey so I have one to squat to but if the knees are cranky I jut march on the spot to it. Its not much but its a bit of movement I wouldn't otherwise be doing0 -

Hi Cath, yes you are welcome to join us ... we are here to support each other, not to compete, so the only thing that matters is that the scales keep going in the right direction :-)
Dragon, thanks for offering to take over in Feb, that's great! So sorry to hear about your fall, what rotten luck - I slipped on ice outside the back door just before christmas last year and tore my cartiledge in my knee... so you have my sympathy.... Do take care and look after yourself xI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Is it too late to sign up? Mainly just for a bit of support. I currently weight 10 stones and 1 pound which doesn't seem much, but is compared to my height and my BMI tells me I am overweight. Would also like to sign my husband up as he is in the obese range - (6ft 4 and 18 stones - his ideal weight is apparently 14.9 stones)
Will have a look at the calorie counter website, although I know my downfall is snacking at my desk0 -
Yesterday a running club ran through our village and I was impressed at the support people were yelling to each other. I couldn't possibly run, but I'd love to find some other people to walk with, or maybe swim with. I'd like to join a yoga class too but I just feel a bit self aware about exercising with 'normal' people yet. I wonder if its worth approaching the nurse who runs the weight loss clinics at GPs about forming a walking group?
I do walk already, with the dogs etc, but walking with more purpose would be more effective I think
We have health walks twice a week in and around our village and there are lots of other walks in the area and all round the country.

The are free and an excellent way to meet people and find out more about where you live.
If you train as a walk leader you can organize and lead your own walks eg, you could arrange walks for people with pushchairs, or lunchtime walks etc.
They are also starting to organise 'green exercise' in various places.

Welcome aboard to the new members (everyone is MORE than welcome!), Dr Dragon also needs to lose a few pounds (well okay a couple of stone!), but he feels bad about going out for a walk and leaving me at home.
All the bruising has now come out  but the pain has gone down a bitand I can get back upstairs without crawling!
:D, more to the point the medication "blip" has left and I am back down to 293 pounds :j
