I think you're right Gonzo, it's the wanting to quit is what gets us to the end!
You're welcome maccababe and remember that not all days are alike, let's hope you'll have a great one today without evil thoughts! Push them away and don't allow that evil devil in!
Pixie983 Congratulations on 8 months of freedom from all that evil weed!! :T Thanks for letting us know as successful posts help all those going through the process so very much.
Hello Sparrer and thank you so very much for taking the trouble to help others by putting your story here. My heart truly does go out to you. I suffer from asthma due to smoking, but I was fortunate for it just to be that, but I can understand what you mean about the cold at least as it really does get straight to my chest when I'm outside. My sister-in-law suffers from emphysema and struggles terribly for breath.
These pages pass over very quickly, but luckily people seem to get inspiration by going through them so hopefully your story will get read many times. I sincerely hope all your wishes will come true and that you have plenty of time left to enjoy the wonders of life. Take great care Sparrer, of your dear lass too!
Congratulations on coming so far already DUKE :T, by golly hasn't that flown by! All the very best for Friday and for as long as you need it. Try not to worry too much about coming off the inhalators,it might be far better than you'd ever realise. You'll be ok, you're doing it for your health, keep that part uppermost in your mind.
Well done for that MrsChips, it's good to spare a thought for others, thank you.
Hi penguin, a great idea to team up with Gonzo as quitting partners! Not too long to wait now until you start on the amazing journey to great health!!!
Have a great day all, hope you have great weather, in your smoke-free zones!!!

Another good day, took at least 10 mins after getting up before I thought about a cig. Doesn't sound much, but for me that's pretty good. The w/e was remarkably stress free as well and that included son's friend for a sleepover. Have found food consumption is on the rise but am trying not to let that concern me and walking that little faster to and from work. The lighter nights and having a dog certainly help as it means i can take her out when i get home from work rather than having a cuppa and a fag.
Glad to hear everyone else is doing well. Keep strong.
maccababeNot massively in debt, but possibly heading there!0 -
Hi Maccababe,
You're doing really wellI literally obsessed about smoking for about 3 weeks but now I've noticed it's cut right down.
I did obsess yesterday but I was on a boring motorway drive from Essex to home and I think it was more force of habit. Once I was home I was ok.
DH has a nasty cold at the moment but still going out in the garden for a fag.. I can't believe I used to do that. I'm finding I can smell them from a distance now, if someone has walked down the street. It's odd as I kind of like and dislike it at the same time

Evening all, all is well at my end. I know what you both mean about smelling cigs from a mile away. Prob I have is that I like the smell of cig smoke, have since I was a nipper, that was obviously my downfall!
Anyways, back to pancake making, this could be my downfall.
Hope everyone is doing well and fighting the good fight. Not massively in debt, but possibly heading there!0 -
Well its been a fair while since I posted in here and am sorry for that, but luckily it is nothing to do with my having started again and everything to do with me being busy with my new job! So am pleased to report am still not smoking, not sure how long for now, since New Years Day however long that is, and whilst its not been easy, its not been as hard as I thought it would be! I have had my moments when I've really fancied one but have managed to resist so far!
Well done to everyone else and for those about to start good luck, you can do it!0 -
Well maccababe, by the time you read this you'll have been free from that evil weed for a whole 2 weeks and should be so very, very proud of yourself, very well done indeed!!! :T You started out determined and have stayed that way, good for you! A good idea to speed up the walking as you progress, it'll certainly help with having eaten a little more; swing your arms at the same time in the same positions as if you were running, it makes the heart pump faster and gets shot of more calories that way!
You too should be feeling so very proud by now Naomi,:T you've done brilliantly and deserve all the success you seek. Well done on that car journey, it really used to take it's toll with me, but I soon adjusted to being without them. I can easily relate to this sentence of yours <<<"It's odd as I kind of like and dislike it at the same time">>> One minute I find it absolutely disgusing, the next I feel like running after the puffer to catch up with the smoke!!!
Hi there skr80, however long for you now?
I wondered what had happened to you BlueIsTheColour, you've done excellently and you've quit now for 8 weeks today (Thursday):T:T:T I never thought of you as having started again as I remembered about the job so put 2 and 2 together and hoped you'd come back to update us. Keep up that great resolve BITC, you're doing marvellously!!!:j
Everybody ealse likewise, please keep strong and survive the battle ...you know you'd hate yourself IF you stopped quitting!

Well, that sounds like a plan to me.
Its been 48 hours now for me. I always said that ex-smokers are the worst around smoking people, and I certainly am, lolOH was smoking tonight, oppened all the windows (3 massive sash windows in front room) and he was cold. Told him if he wants to smoke inside, then he better wrap up warm :rotfl:
Got to admit, the smell kinda made me want one, but didnt like it at the same time. Ended up chewing on a raw carrott. Tell you what else I noticed, my dogs smell of smoke too. Never noticed it before while I was smoking.I know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -

Keep up with the carrots, the ice cubes you suck too!!! Oh I couldn't bare something so darn cold, it takes me half an hour to eat an ice cream!!!! OH better get his coats on hand as it's set to get colder!! Keep strong Gonzo, you're doing wonderfully!
