It's been a couple of weeks for me and it hasn't really made any difference. I don't miss them at all but I don't feel good about quitting either. The size of a glory hole in an open pit should not be greater than the cross-section of the haul trucks that dump into it. Otherwise, you are bound to lose a truck, sooner or later. Source: Sergio Cha
I'm sorry for the demon I've become but you should be sorry for the angel you are not.0 -
Hi joop! That's excellent news that it'll soon be 3 months that you've quit for!!! :T You have so very much to be proud of and showed such strength from the onset so you deserve to go all the way! Good news about the champix too. Don't worry about feeling a bit down in the dumps, it's a little natural of the time you're at - but - it will pass shortly.
However, if you can do more exercise you'll pass that stage so much faster as the endorphins are released which will put you on a high. Read the PM and see what you can do. It could also be the Birthday looming large, but heck that's only a number so ignore it. If ever you're hit by thoughts of the age thing, think of all your class mates at school - they're there too!!!Thanks for the kind words, it's a pleasure.
Oh dear TDQO, I was initially really pleased you'd hit the 2 week mark, but so sorry to read about your feelings of not feeling good about quitting either. Try to get yourself into a different frame of mind by writing down all the goods of quitting and all the bads of keeping on smoking. The bad things used to terrify me and thoughts of ending my life in agony with a smoking-related illness soon brought me to my senses. Do sort out your feelings for the long term TDQO and keep posting as we'll all be so glad to help you through it all.
All the very best to you for pushing on and giving yourself a beautiful gift, the gift of LIFE!

Still hanging on in there. Work trip to Cardiff yesterday (5 hours return) managed it without smoking or too many cravings! Now need to develop some exercise again.:j Thanks all for your encouragement and advice.:T0

Well its day 7 and i have a stinking cold, not sure if this is due to not smoking but am feeling generally rubbish. Still feeling positive about not smoking, still having cravings but managing them ok(ish).
Good to hear that you are all doing so well, keep it up.Not massively in debt, but possibly heading there!0 -
Well done on the 5 hour trip adarynefoedd! 5 hours return is a long way and time in which you should be so proud of tackling and succeeding with coping throughout it!! All the best with putting your all into the exercise, that's one of the best ways of doing it as it gives you such a high and takes away all thoughts of 'you know what'. Great for the waist line too!!!:T
The cold could be coincidence maccababe, but so often many of us get a real stinker soon after we quit and to be honest, it's not a bad thing as it takes away all thoughts of puffing! It also helps the body rid itself of all the rubbish that cigs have caused, so endure it in a sort of thankful way! BTW, many congratulations on a week's great achievement, you're doing yourself proud!!!! :T :j
All the very best to you both and to everyone in your quest for a far better life, smoke-free and fit!!!

You can do it, you can, you can, you can0 -
I seriously want to quit.
Dont know the best way to go about it (what would work best with me). My doctor is next to useless. I asked him about it, and just got a lecture about what it does to you!!!!
Ive been smoking for 16 years, and just want help and support to do it. OH smokes, and no-way would he go outside whilst I tried to quit.
Ive tried twice in the past, but this time I REALLY REALLY want to quit, which is half the battle I suppose. And, some of the things you can buy to help are quite dear IMO, worth it in the end I suppose tho.
God, I need help, lolI know my spelling is shocking  It is alot better than it used to be though :rotfl:0 -
Hey
So have now finished my first week on champix, and it is now day 4 of not smoking. I can not actually say to feel better because i have a soar throat.
Still getting some urges not cravings, its more getting used to not having a smoke when driving so i cycle to work, after dinner etc... I am jusst trying to change my routine instead.
Hope everyone is doing great, and hopefully this soar throat will be gone soon so i can enjoy not smoking.

Hi Everyone,
Glad to see you are doing so well Maccababe & Adarynefoedd.
Tommy99 - I can't believe you quit so quickly on the Champix, it took me until day 14 of the tablets to finally stop. I am pleassed to report I have now done 1month, 2days 15hours. :j
Every now and then I feel like I want one, not a craving more of an urge like you say Tommy BUT I know if I did, that would be it and I am NOT going to do that.
Hi GonzoAston, there are plenty of ways to help you quit and not all hurt your pocket  Rather than seeing your GP, try your practice nurse. They are usually a lot more sympathetic and can advise better than the GP.

Yeah, it got to the point where i wasn't enjoying smoking, and was on 5 a day. i didn't see the point in buying more smokes then i needed. I nearly caved on the second day and took a one of my friend, was walking down the raod debating whether to smoke it or not. I decided not to and ripped it up. Felt so good being able to say no.:T :T
Naomim i would call them more of a want or routine, then a craving. I am off out tonight for my gf birthday, i can't really drink much with champix so should be fun!!
Keep it up everyone. :cool:12 month goal starting 01.02.09Halifax Loan £25/£300, Sealed box (#630) £250, Ebay £145 / £500, Savings £629 /£5000, £2 per Day Transfer,Stopping Smoking Fund = £45, Claim bank charges (£2000)0
