Oh dear lou, keep reading that losing weight PM AND acting on it!!! You're right though, with extra weight on you're bound to get more sluggish. Make a pact now not to eat unnecessarily, drink plenty of water - and do plenty of exercise! On a good note - very well done on that 2 weeks!!!:T
Hi adarynefoedd, pleased to see you've stayed quit so well. :TIt sounds as though you're at the stage where your attention is mucked up, all due to quitting, but a stage which you'll get through soon enough. Keep drink plenty of water as it really does help keep us alert and try to get more exercise as that'll help you feel far better - and - help you not to put on weight. The more you keep yourself focused on viewing smoking as an abusive partner, that forced you to do things aginst your will and slowly started giving you health problems, the better it will be. Forget any such ideas of comfort etc; we don't stay amused or get comfort from smoking related illnesses due to that blasted friend!! A bit harsh maybe, but I do so want you to STAY QUIT!!!!
Well done on knowing you need to switch to water and the clems maccababe, the more normal you're able to keep your weight the far happier you'll be, the more active too!
Hi and welcome to the thread DitaBombita! All the very best from tomorrow (today) onwards. Having started the new job with the whole area smoke free could be the best thing to happen to you to kick start it all, grab hold of such chances and QUIT and stay QUIT!!!! Read through the PM and take note of the water etc!
Congratulations on 6 weeks free from it all Vi!!! :T Please try and stay focused on that 6 weeks and how proud you feel. Have glasses of a favoutite squash by your side to sip away at when you're feeling as you did. Far better to be 'tested' a little than being at that complacent stage and doing the unthinkable! Good thinking about coming to the boards Vi read them well and I hope they spur you on!
Have a great week everyone, another one free from tar, smoke, nicotine and all the much that's with it. You can hold your heads high, whether on day 1 or week 12 of your new and healthy life!

Hi penguin, nearly didn't see you there, glad I did though. You pick our brains just as much as you need to, we'll do all we can to help you to quit!
We've had many folk quitting while their OH's still smoke, but all too often they manage to coax their partner into getting their health straight too! "mudgekin" and her OH are quitting - but - her dear mum still smokes IN the house!!! She's bought an air filtration unit though and that seems to be helping them all a lot.
With regards to lighters and ashtrays in your back room, view the lighters as the items that start up the things which slowly gnaw away at your health. With the ashtrays, always 'see' them when they're at their most filthy and smelly, disgusting in looks and smell, enough to put anyone off!! It's a good idea to sort out the potential pitfalls in advance, don't get too hung up on it though, concentrate instead on seeing your lungs start to return to their natural colour and function, smelling the fresh air rather than smoky, smelly air. You'll be amazed just how quickly you'll be completely put off the smell of smokers and others smoking. To help a little more, put aside all your money saved and see it as it grows. Give yourself a treat now and then, possibly a weekly one, something to look forward to!
Good luck with the reading penguin, I hope with each paragraph your strength and determination to finish with the fags grows and grows. It's the greatest gift you'll ever give yourself. Good luck, you CAN do it!

Me too! :j Although I haven't weighed myself and still blaming weight gain on Christmas!;):rotfl:
Penguin - my OH still smokes although not in the house. I think he is now leaning towards stopping as he has seen that I have been successful. Just hope he will do it as he has a lot of health problems and stopping smoking will certainly help.

A good day, stressful at work but manageable. Have had a yearning today, not quite a craving but definately a yearning. Came home from work and OH was having a fag in the kitchen and that was tricky but gave him short shrift and despatched him to the shed. Penguin83, if you can ban your OH to another room, shed, outdoors it really helps. Have told MrP to hide all smoking paraphanalia as this can easily trigger a craving for me.
One of the very lovely things about not smoking is your hair still smells fresh two days after washing it. Your just washed clothes don't smell of smoke, your kids don't smell of smoke. Have given up before, however, its very quick to forget how cig smoke completely infiltrates your house. Most things prob still have a trace of fag smoke due to OH but certainly not as bad as when we both smoked.
Anywhoos, everyone is doing wonderfully well. Just think, there is nothing to lose from giving up smoking only what you gain!
maccababe xNot massively in debt, but possibly heading there!0 -
been a lot better today keep busy will have to start looking for a diet thread next as starting to put on weight
my other half smokes as well and i dont see any sign of him stopping but to be fair he has cut down0 -
Many congratulations JenC!!! :T That first 4 weeks goal is the best feeling and I bet you're thrilled to have made it so far! You sound so happy with yourself - and should be too! A gain of just 2 Lbs is marvellous, just goes to show your constant exercise paid off so well. Well done with the £175 saved! All the very best for you next goal, post too!:D
Many congratulations to you too on 11 months success feedum!!!! :T I knew it was a long time, but didn't realise just how long. A great achievement for you!!! Yes, I'm still here - I'm addicted I think!!
Great words of advice there maccababe! You sound very good too, pleased you put OH in his place! Keep it up and keep strong!
Fingers crossed for your OH Naomi, it would be wonderful for him to help his health, I really hope he'll follow you and quit.
Good to see you sounding better Vi, well done! Keep the nibbles down and step up the fruit, especially apples. Water will fill you up too. There is a losing weight thread on MSE, though darned if I can remember whereabouts now.I'll send you a PM to see if it'll help.
Keep up that great work everyone and exercise as must as possible, it helps so much.
