    Hey,

Just a quick update, on day 7 of Champix.

Naomim did you have any side effects, i seem to be getting small headache in the morning and bad wind in the afternoon (+ a bad stomach).

But apart from that, i have cut down to half of what i was smoking from 20 a day to 10. Start taking double doses tomorrow so will keep you updated.

HHH, I can't believe your friend left . I'd be soooo peed off if a) one of my friends encouraged me to smoke, and b) left when I didn't do what they wanted. Couldn't she have a glass of wine round your house and smoke outside?

Tommy99 - I did get some headaches but they didn't seem to last too long. I can't comment about the windypops as my diet has been a bit haywire since Christmas so normal service hasn't been resumed yet. :o

JeanieJ - I would go back to the NHS but it does all sound psychological. You're still subconsciously feeling something is missing. Have you tried taking some "rescue remedy"? It's great stuff. You should put your new found energy into something like walking or gardening? I bet your house is spotless at the moment ;) I feel like I have more energy to do stuff.. all I have to find is the motivation

Hi and welcome to Godiva (and OH) :hello: Day 6 is great :j I originally thought OMG! 45 years a smoker but I can imagine it's so easy done having smoked the last 20 years away. Keep posting, there are some great hints and tips on this thread. Drink plenty of OJ & water and use clementines and ice-poles to help combat the cravings. Sue-UU will no doubt send you a great PM full of information.

Well done everyone, I am now smoke free for 3weeks 5 days and far happier. Feeling quite smug as DH still smoking but he has said a couple more weeks and he will go to the Dr's to see about the Champix too.

Hello Guys... Sorry I've not been around for a while. It's great to see everyone is still doing so well.:T

There are a couple of reasons I've not been around, but I guess the main one is that I've had a Hiccup and I've been smoking again ((Sorry)) :(
It all started last weekend when me and the B/F had a huge fall out and he ended up leaving for a few days... which resulted in me running to the shop and chain smoking 20 in one day. Afterwards I felt awful, sore throat and bad chest when I woke up so i vowed not to do it again. But after a few days it all got too much and I gave in and bought another packet. So since then i've been smoking 3-5 a day, I know, I know... I was doing so well.

My B/F is back now and all is well again (until the next time!!) he has even set a date to stop smoking himself which will make things easier for me too. I'm hoping to get focussed again very soon, but at the moment I've got lots of stress at work and I'm looking for another job and having Interviews, its no excuse I know but I promise to keep trying and i'm sure i'll be back here before too long when i'm smoke free again (That's if you'll have me back!!)

Keep it up everyone... very proud of you all for not being weak like me xx

  • All went swimmingly well on Monday but I had run out of patches on Tuesday and was ill-prepared. Came home Tuesday night and World War III broke out, what did i do, yep you guessed it had a fag. Have been smoking since, have now stocked up on patches and am ready to go tomorrow. Feel really disappointed but the first thing I reach for is the cigs. Anyways, here is hoping for a fresh start tomorrow.
    You are doing fantastically well.
Not massively in debt, but possibly heading there!

I'm day 3 in giving up the devil, I'm using the inhalator and lozenges. I'm not doing too badly but I've got 7 sleeves of fags still in the house and I really don't know what to do with them. I don't want to throw them away but I don't have anyone to sell them to either, all my friends are non smokers too. I hope to use the NRT as little as possible as I don't want to become addicted to that too. Good luck everyone with their battle:).
  • Day 25 for me today, a bit of a turning point too. I was stood outside after work today with my friend, he lit up a cigarette and the smell actually made me feel a bit sick. This has to be a good sign I think as i was expecting it to send my cravings into overdrive. More determined than ever now not to give in !
    :j
  • Both me and my boyfriend have quit smoking and are both on day 10. We are going cold turkey....It's been hard trying to break all the little habits but I'm starting to feel happier about being a non-smoker now and I think it's all down to a book I've started reading. My boyfriend is doing great too, but I think he's finding it more difficlt as he was a heavier smoker than me.

Has anyone else read Allen Carrs Easyway to stopping smoking? You're actually supposed to read this book when you are still officially a smoker and wanting to quit, but I only picked it up a few days ago.

I'm quite a slow reader  but from what I've read so far makes sense and it helping me through this completely! (In fact I think its so great I've ordered the DVD for me and my fella to watch together - Romantic huh?!:rotfl: )

Well done everyone for getting this far :j

BUT....i it made me feel really ill, bad headache etc, and it stinks!

i think the weekend will help me as i dont have the usual routine of work etc, plus my OH will be with me to help (hes a non-smoker).

so im not goin to worry too much i'll carry on with trying to keep busy.:T

anyways hope you all have a good day.
