I went to the clinic last night and expalined about the champix so have been given NRP plastic fag. feeling really rubbish as had a cig today after 7 days of none. I will ge the paul mckenna cd out when I get home. Just so fed up with myself for giving in.

Don't be disheartened, the GP will only give out Champix after you have tried everything else. Personally i didn't like the NRT, so gave Zyban ago and it worked for around 8 months until i went to university and started drinking...

I found it really hard to give up, specially if i get stressed i feel as if i need a cig. But, this time i bought a stress relief book to help with this.

    Don't worry you will get there:D :D:D

Awww HHH :grouphug: have a dodgy hug.

Apart from making you feel fed up, how did that ciggie taste? I'm guessing it was at least a bit nasty. Did you feel light headed or a bit sick at all? If it's ANY of these, then you need to try and remember that feeling. If you REALLY feel the need then puff on you plastic one but please remember you have done 7 days so far which is a HUGE achievement.

Keep up the good work but please don't beat yourself up over a blip.

  • I am on day 40 now without a ciggie.

It can be done - it is not as hard as I thought it was going to be.

    Good luck folks

Hello :hello: - just found this thread.
I gave up smoking on 25th January, so it's day 16 today :j . I went down with a nasty bronchial / chest infection/virus a couple of weeks or so ago, which gradually got worse and worse. Smoking just wasn't an option  Even though I'm over the virus now, I've no intention of going back to the fags - can't believe how much money I've saved.
Hope I can make this the final quit - have had so many practice quits, i've lost count :o

  • Hi
    Just found you.
This is my 6th day as a non smoker. My OH has stopped too - he has smoked for 45 years - OMG he is crabby lol. Still we have got to day 6 unscathed.
We decided to go cold turkey - once the decision is made to stop we find it easier....

    Will keep you posted.

back on the wagon thanks Naomin, friend came round last night ( she smokes) and suggested we go to the pub and I knew she would say go on just have one fag so I said No No No!! she left! Avoiding pub friday as that's a difficult place to be at the moment and going for a meal out sat instead. changing my habits is helping. still on the plastic fag but dont use it much, maybe couple of times a day. the quit meter says 1 week 3 days 8 hours 30 mins 18 secs. it's helping!
  • Hi everyone not posted for a while as felt we were doing really well. So many good ideas on here how to live smoke free, so why do I feel so uptight and irritated. Its now three months since myself and DH gave up. He is also becoming quite a pain since patches finished. I used champix and found them really good. I think its my mind games kicking in again. Previous attempts included being off for three months six months, one year and two years. Why I ever started again after so long in the past really is stupidity. Not this time though after smoking for thirty two years this is it.I feel such an urge to eat all the time and constantly chew gum my jaw is aching. I keep thinking I need something else often pace around a lot and feel the need to be on the go at home all the time especially when I.'m on my own. I wish these feelings would go and I could settle with myself. I am taking one day at a time and may return to NHS again to speak to the nurse she said we could still pop into the clinic anytime we wanted too. Still got to keep going good luck to you all everyone is doing so well.
