Have got gum, have been chewing away like an old highland coo for hours, this is different, its like my lips feel like I have been to the dentist. not painful or anything, just a bit numb feeling. however, that major half hour of cravings has passed for now, onwards and upwards !!
Hi Jinty, glad to hear the craving passed, your nearly a 3rd of the way through :j:j
In regards to your lips i know what your talkaing about, i felt the same, its just the lip and nothing else feels numb, i put it down to lack of nicotine and whatever else being put into you, and oxygen geting back into you, it will pass.

Good to see you here helping out too, Jammy, well done! Well done on staying quit over Christmas too!! :T:T
Hi AandELee, if you're the one who always starts your dear Wife off again, then do please always try to be discreet about it and always smoke outside for everyone's sake - please! Your Wife might just be able to keep to quitting IF you can help her! BTW, how far into a quit do you get before being dragged back, and what makes you go back? I ask as it's normally a lot easier for guys.
I'm so pleased you've also found the original thread, Blanc, you have a LOAD of information with both threads to work with, many ideas to try and wisdom to view. Commiserations with the kidney infection, I have a similar problem at present that's affecting me quite a bit! I hope you're soon feeling much better - getting proper sleep too.
Well done on Day 2, Azkaban!!! :j You're doing really well, keeping yourself motivated and busy too obviously. It's no good, I've got to ask, "bless them poor chickens for me that are left on the shelves" whatever does that mean or do you have chickens indoors?! The biscuits won't do much harm to you! So long as you kno when to stop.
A very warm welcome, anxious_mum! It's such a shame you started again, especially after 5 years! Never mind, that's gone now and you're focusing on a healthy future. If you need any help at all, please ask and come here regularly to get advice or just to read the thread as there's a LOT of helpful advice to be found there. For now, try water, fruit and exercise!!
Ok, you're off on Day 1, determined new ms, well done! Forget about yesterday, it didn't materialise but it's the 'now' that's important. I hope you got the walk in and that you enjoyed it. Read through the PM, through the threads here too as they'll show you just how well others have quit and stayed that way. YOU CAN DO IT, DNMS!!! Please do try sipping water when you get cravings, eating fruit too. All the best!
Excellent news, penelopedee!!!! :j You're bound to get 'moments' as a habit stays in the mind for a while - BUT - CAN be broken! If you're wanting even more motivation...how about joining us on my "Sealed Pot Challenge 4" where we save every penny possible in a pot after sealing it. We keep it up until December 1st then start again with the next one on December 2nd. You're welcome if your out to save. Link through to SPC4 here
Congratulations dawemouse!!! You've done so very, very well indeed. Thanks so much for the feedback, it's always good to hear how folk quit. Lovely to see you. :T:T
Hi there, ceebeeby, :hello:so good to see you back and FREE!!!! :T:T Many Congratulations on your great achievement!!!! How about coming on next year to help boost others along! Well done ceebeeby!!
A very warm welcome back, jinty271, we have seen you here before haven't we? Congratulations on the 2nd day for you both!!! You have each other to support and draw courage from/to, you also have us and other people's posts here on the thread. There's nothing like a health scare to set the wheels in motion, we with you both the very best with quitting - AND with your health!! Keep chatting to us and try eating fruit, sliced carrots, celery etc! Drinking water helps a lot and so does doing exercise! Have just seen your SOS, jinty: Go to the back door by all means - BUT NOT with a fag in hand! Go and stand outside and breathe in and out as you would if you had one, relax and think thoughts right away from smoking, then go and sip at a glass of water. Eat an apple go off out for a walk but please don't have a fag, they're killers!!!!! Lean on that darling hubby of yours, bless him!NO ONE ever brings this thread down, it's a battering ram - I'm just do delighted you used it. Stay strong jinty, you have us ALL on side!
Hi Catherine, good to see you back, though so sorry to her you've had that awful bug. Hubby & I both had colds, but that's nothing compared to what you've suffered - I HATE IT!!!! Congratulations on a whole 6 weeks of freedom from fags!!! :T:T Thanks so much for the congratulations, it does mean a lot as it's such a long time now.
Very well done, hattiefats, Day 2 eh, that is a really great achievement already!!! :j Keep reading, it absorbs other thoughts and puts thinking in the right place - defeating the enemy!! You deserve to get through this, so stay strong and keep reading. I think jammy's right with her thoughts, I agree on the click moment, it works.
Hiya Caz, it's great to see you back!!! Even though I've seen you on SPC, I wasn't going to say anything as I know most of us need the 'right time' to do this, and can only wish you well for this time being yours! So glad you've kept the PM. Another one for the Ice pops eh, good for you for trying. You need to do this for the sake of that little pup too!!! All the best for THIS time, Caz and congratulations for giving it another go!
Congratulations on having QUIT, Nym, the best thing you'll ever do!!! :T:T
Come on everyone - Nobody is going to keel over if they stop smoking - nothing will happen to you that's bad. BUT so many rewards will be yours when you've quit and you'll ALL be feeling so very much better! Keep it going!!!!
BY The way: For anyone being affected by clapping/jumping smilies here or anywhere else on the board - press the "Escape" button at the very top left of your keyboard and they'll all stay still. They're effective for what they're meant for, but drive me potty at times!

Gosh that does sound exciting, there is my nemesis out there somewhere! And clearly the utter opposite of me too
As to side effects, it probably is the sudden rush of Oxygen that your body just isn't used to processing. I had horrendous problems with dreaming vividly mostly, no physical side effects. Nice to get rid though isn't it! That old Nic might be fighting away there but it's no more than a mild irritant to you~Nym~

Am struggling at the moment, and the problem is, a quick trip to the back door would take away all these cravings. I am thinking about cigarettes constantly, and fighting a battle with my mind/ will power every minute. Getting tired of it now.
clearly we're twins, at least in mind right now! aaaarrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the constant debate in my mind which has one specialist topic!!!!!!
its strange as on the one hand its the easiest thing - clearly the only thing I need to do to be a non-smoker is not light another ciggarrette. On the other its driving me out of my mind thinking aout nothing other than smoking! And boredom!
So far today to distract myself I have done a number of odd jobs around the house to occupy myself, went out for a walk, went to sleep ad now I am having a glass of wine & hoping it takes the edge off it all.
Physically I have this burning sensation in my chest which feels quite "needy" iyswim? I want to eat things to take it away? Anyone else???DF as at 30/12/16

Drink something cold, go outside for a walk (without any supplies!), try an ice lolly. I felt like this badly yesterday evening so I get what you mean.
I had a friend who used to say that if he breathed really deeply he could make the craving go away. Hasn't worked for me yet though.
Come - on, we can do it. They are nasty, stinky, expensive, cancer sticks. We've much better things to do with our life and our money. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
