anxious_mum wrote: »Hello everyone
Just wanted to say that as of today I am a non-smoker! I actually stopped for 5 years and then started again in June this year, much to my family's disgust. I am determined to do this and today seems like as good a time as any. I'm doing it cold turkey, as it worked for me the first time. Good luck to everyone else out there who have decided to kick the habit x
Anxious_Mum, WELL DONE for your determination, and for giving up again, it must be a hard thing to realise that after all that hard work you had ciggies in your hand again ... but thats in the past, we are all looking to our healther smoke free futuredetermined_new_ms wrote: »Helllo - sorry was suspiciously absent yesterday (I had a bit of tobacco left and from experience I always go reluctantly!) So I'm embarrassed and also happy to say that today at 10.43 I extinguished my last ciggarette, emptied all ashtrays & put in dishwasher (ready to drop off at the CS on Tues), had a bath, washed my hair, put smokey clothes in WM and clean ones on. So baby steps, at this very tender stage! Now currently I'm not having any cravings (well heck I go longer than this without a ciggarette at work) but the internal dialogue is driving me up the wall.
Trying to convince oh to come for a walk, but as we haven't been very well I fear I'm flogging a dead horse here. May go for one on my own...
will check in later when I will have slightly more hours under my belt....
Determined, Well done for coming back to us, thats the main thing, you have held your hands up, dusted yourself off and your trying again, according to my calculation you are nearly 4 hours into your quit, that 4 hours smoke free, 4 hours towards a healthier you, please do not be embarrased, we have all done things in the past in regards to smoking, you just need to break the physical habit now, rememeber we are all here for eachother
Going for a walk will help you forget about any cravings, and its healthy, go on your own if need bepenelopedee wrote: »Morning all (whoops its afternoon already). Day 2 here, going ok. I did have a moment driving home from Tesco just now where I thought I'd have one once I was in. Then I remembered I'm a non smoker nowNo ifs or buts. Easy decision for me.
Good luck everyone else x
Our hard earned dosh is much better off in our pockets rather than the tobacco industry's.
Penelopeedee, isnt it odd how quickly your day goes as a non smoker, when your not constantly thinking about that next fag ..... or did you have a loooooong lay in today :rotfl:
them cravings will soon get lesser and lesser, the more you ignore them
Well done for making it through to day 2 :T

Hi guys, well done to everyone taking the plunge this year. It was my new years resolution to give up last year. i started on the 20th tho to recover from the festivities.
I have now been fag free for 347 days, not one puff!!
I went through boots stop smoking service and was given any nicotine replacement i wanted. they were brilliant and cannot recommend them enough.
It goes get much easier and you will all feel so much better. i hardly give it a second thought now!
Remember be strong and dont give in!!:T
Dawemouse, WELL DONE :T:T I can not wait to get to the point were you are, is it a nice feeling?
I echo your comment, Be strong and dont give in1 Year and 1 Day - Cold Turkey
:T Hey everyone, how are you all!!
Well, I thought I'd stick my smoke free head around the door to say a happy new year to everyone! I know how hard the first couple of days in particular are, and I found it megga encouraging when 'longer-term' quitters popped back into this thread to say they were still going strong.
I just wanted to wish everyone the very very best. I hope the 'old' crowd of 2010 new year quitters are all well and happy - sorry I'm rubbish at staying in touch, but you're all in my thoughts! Congrats on the 1 year anniversary xx
To the 2011 quitters, good luck and believe xxx
Ceebeeby, WELL DONE to you also, a whole year, i bet it seems surreal to know you made it to the one year point?Hubby and I both smoked our last ciggie at 8am yesterday morning, so we are about 30 hours in. Both got a patch on, Ive got chewing gum, and am eating anything that aint nailed down.( Not overly concerned about this, he is very skinny, and I am average, and will lose any gained weight once I am, finally quit)
I have had previous attempts at stopping, once for 5 months, the rest more half hearted, but this is the first time he ( after a health scare) has joined me, so I hope this will make all the difference. At least I will not be following him, sniffing.
We have a savings bottle, and have put 2 days cig money in it so far ( £8 per day between us).
He has another appointment with the smoking nurse on the 6th, we think he will ask for an inhilator, as the hand to mouth action seems to be most missed at the moment.
Still, 30 hours is longer than re cent previous attempts, and, it does seem overall a bit easier. Am mid crave atm so excuse the rather glum posting style, I am sure my positivity will perk up again soon. Well done to all who are doing so well, quitting this filthy habit.
Hi Jinty271, first of all welcome to our little community, will huby be joining us also??
And also well done for the first 30 hours, its a nice feeling isnt it...i like yourself have had many half hearted attempts in previous times, but have found this one so much easier, as both my mother and brother are also quitting at the same time, so lots of people to bounce off of and to 'vent' at lol.
I would implore you to read the previous posts, as you can get so much info from them and some pretty good tips.
You will be suprised how quickly that monmey will mount up!

Hi Ross
I have my garden tools at the ready..now how big is your garden? It's so cold out there my fingers are just coming back to life. I will go easy on the biscuits and only pick the small ones. xx" To get through the hardest journey we need take only ONE step at a time,

Thanks Ross,
I have read through, sadly all too often ! But this time I am determined. I dont think hubby will join us no, he is not a member on this site, and frankly, this is my outlet to vent away from him , and hopefully keep the domestics to a minimum. He paced the floor for hours last night , depriving me, and himself, of much needed sleep, so I think we best just keep out of each others way as much as possible till the worst is over !
Aiming to clear all my ( relatively small ) debts this year, and the savings from not smoking will help this a lot , and hopefully we might also manage a holidayI don't know much, but I know I love you ....<30 -

oh Jinty ... i know that feeling of reading through the posts and doing nothing about it ... but we have now :j
its good to have some where to vent, and maybe you should steer clear of eachother for a bit lol
they say the first 3 days are the worst and i agree, so not much longer
good luck with your debts, have you thought about the sealed pot challenge? info here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2899192
