penelope stick at it, the biggest step is day one :-)
theres a lot of inspirational people on here, i need to get into the right frame of mind to start again0 -
Hi brazen and a very warm welcome aboard. However you do quit, I tend to hope it wouldn't be via instantquit. I've been having a read through to and don't like what I read at all, sounds extremely weird to me, and - how come we've never heard of it on here??? Have a think about Champix, it's being very well received here lately and with great success. Like penelopee, I did it via cold turkey and very soon got through it. I've sent you a PM, see what you think of the tips in there, though there are loads on here in everyone else's thoughts and experiences. Either that or you could give cold turkey a shot - in 3 days all the nicotine will have left your body and you'll be on your way...you could do worse and you never know if this time might be the right one!!!!
A very warm welcome to you also, Azkaban.Well done on having got through today. Patches are often grumbled about for not sticking..or causing irritations. Keep them up for as long as you're able, then stick to the inhalators which most people praise. It's mainly about breaking the hand to mouth habit of fags and will wean you off in time. All I'd suggest is that you'd try to bring the amount of sprays down as soon as you can, but still having enough to help yourself through it. I've sent a PM, by using those tips as well you mightn't need the inhalator or patches so much anyway. Anything's worth a try and if Ross is a friend of yours, use him to lean on, he's a great guy!!!!
Don't worry about tears, penelopedee, it's a most natural reaction for us women, so good ahead and have a good cry. If you get at all stressed go upstairs and push your head into a pillow and SCREAM!!!! Both those really help and it also helps us give vent to the feelings and let go which makes the rest of it much better to deal with. This is one of those times when being so pig headed about things could well pay off! Keep strong, penelopee.

Hi Sue
Got your PM thanks (I replied btw)
I have been smoking on and off (mainly on) for around 26 years now and have tried many products out there
Have in the past stopped for a year whilst taking a sabbatical to Australia also. Again for three and a half months after my daughter was born.
I have found from my own experience that it is mainly the social thing that drags me back to them0 -
Nice to see some new names Brazen, Blanc,, Azkaban you too Pudding. Hope you get that gumption to try again very soon.
Penelope tears are good, let them come. We have been using cigs to stuff down so many emotions, they are bound to surface. Let em out.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
Taking part in Sealed Pot No.819/2011
Only essentials on Ebay/Amazon0 -
Tonight I am going to bed a non smoker, with a smile on my face. I got through the other side of the nasty cravings earlier and feel fine now, quite chirpy. Ready to face another day
I've noticed I am not wheezing for once and I am actually warm in the living room where as normally I have about 3 layers on. Guess my circulation is beginning to right itself.
Good luck everyone else trying x
That's a couple quid less to the fag manufacturers todayThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
Day 1 chalked up, penelopee and congratularions on achieving it!!! That really is a HUGE step and you've done it! Go to bed a very, very proud person, you deserve to. :T Re the wheexe and circulation: Things soon start to come back to how they should be. When you wake up, remember that feeling and allow yourself a big wide grin.Sealed Pot Challenge 001 My Totals = 08 = £163.95 09 = £315.78 10 = £518.80 11 = £481.87 12 = £694.53 13 = £1200.20! 14 = £881 15 = £839.21 16 = £870.48 17 = £871.52 18 = £800.00 19 = £851.022021=£820.26[/SizeGrand Totals of all members (2008 uncounted) 2009 = £32.154.32! 2010 = £37.581.47! 2011 = £42.474.34! 2012 = £49.759.46! 2013 = £50.642.78! 2014 = £61.367.88!! 2015 = £52.852.06! 2016 = £52, 002.40!! 2017 = £50,456.23!! 2018 = £47, 815.88! 2019 = £38.538.37!!!! :j0

brazen, d'you think that might not be so bad now that people have to smoke outside? If it's home you're talking about then force yourself to go outside - though you most likely are with a little one to care about. I received your PM reply and thank you. I'm wishing you all the best. Re: Champix, is it worth using it IF you might mess it up with social smoking? At times with habits of smoking socially, can you not use something as a sort of 'dummy' or something to hold or play with..bunch of keys...even a small piece of Play Doh, plasticine anything to replace the finger to mouth thoughts.
You CAN get this sorted out - you just need that extra amount of inner strength at those vital times...you have it, you're just not quite aware of it.....or are you????
puddings, why don't you travel the journey with penelopee? It's always better when you've a companion to travel with...don't you think...?! You're 'egging' her on very well from the side lines....how about walking with her? You can also help each other with PMs.
Congratulations Blanc, you've done, really, really well and getting so close to that really BIG achievement......keep at it, stay strong. You're right, the kidney infection and cold sores would have come anyway. Keep watching the thread or, better still, participating and helping others as well as yourself.
Stay strong at all times everyone...breathe deeply, but slowly....drink water in sips. Eat fruit and get plenty of exercise and fresh air - and when you feel it going into your lungs - thank the Lord it IS NOT SMOKE AND CHEMICALS!!! :j
