Thank you for the welcome. Happy new year to everyone.
I am on day 1, doing ok, need to keep busy I think. I have no cigarettes in the house so may get out my knitting or cross stitch. I have been taking sips of cranberry juice when I have a craving which seems to be working. I have my chart stuck on the wall but I am just doing 1 day at a time at the moment. I am on day 7 of the champix.0 -
Happy New Year one and all.
So I stopped in 2009, stayed stopped in 2010, and am still stopped 2011, which means I am three years free does it not?
All the best to you new quitters. Just keep going, one day at a time and before you know it you will be three weeks down the line and physically free and then will have only the odd fleeting association.
The worst thing to do is flirt with the idea of smoking as it can cause so much anguish.
Just tell yourself it is either stop or continue - it really is as simple as that!Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I've done the first morning, cravings are there but I'm going to be bl**dy minded about this. Determined to do itThis time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
The wife and I are starting as soon as we can get an appt at the docs to see the quit smoking nurse. Willpower alone isn't going to do it for us, tried that before!!!
Happy New Year to you all.

AandELee, I quit via the smoking nurse, I used Champix tablets, which in my opinion are excellent as they helped me achieve the unachievable, im sure your aware there are many products on the market, which one are you and your wife interested in?hi just to let u no i havent smoked for 20 hrs keep up the good work mse
Well Done Onetomany, hearly your first whole day smoke free (and that is an achievement in itself) its is not that long ago that I was ion your shoes (and my they are uncomfortable lol) but it does get easier with time, back in November when i was on day 1 i thought i would not succeed, but it is doable.
I wish all our Newbies the best of luck to a smoke free future

Hello all. Just thought I'd pop in for motivation and inspiration. I'm on day 1 of my new quit and its going ok! I'm a serial quitter though with varying success rates! My longest quit was 3 years and I started again due to a sudden death in my family which seems crazy now I think about it. I've probably stopped about 3 times last year for between a day to six weeks. I hate smoking but have always turned to ciggies in times of massive stress. It's finally clicked that I am much less stressed when I'm not smoking.....I wish everyone lots of luck with their quits and am determined this one will be the one that means I never take another puff.TRYING VERY HARD TO START SAVING!

Hi Hattiefats, glad you came to us for inspiration, and well done on your first day smoke free, hopefully this quit will be the final quit.
Many of us here have had many previous quits, and some odd reasons for starting with the ciggies again, my longest quit was around 20 ish days, and that one ended because it got me a break on a night shift lol.
Al the best of luck Hattie
