Many, many congratulations, tattycath, still keeping up and determined as ever to stay QUIT!!!:T:T:T Isn't it just a marvellous feeling - to be free from it at last!!!!! All the very best, tattycath, be so very proud of all you've done, it's fantastic!!!!
Sorry, larmy, but I don't think that's quite how it works,though you've come so far away from it all now I can appreciate just how you feel. Congratulations larmy, you truly deserve them. :T:T:T
Very well done indeed, topsyturphy!!! Keeping as busy as possible really helps as it occupies your mind and takes it from 'other things'. Sewing etc is good, relaxing too, and if cranberry juice helps, go for it. Eating fruit, especially apples...taking slow bites is anotther good one. Keep praising yourself!
penelopedee, you sound very, very determined indeed. Well done with how far you've come, and from being a smoker full-time, it's a LONG way and I hope you're really proud of yourself. Praise yourself for every hour accomplished and tomorrow renew your pledge "I won't smoke at all today, but tomorrow - IF I wish...I can have as many as I want" Keep renewing it every day, but never buckling - of course.Very well done, penelope!
Very well done indeed, onetomany, every hour is an achievement, be sure to praise yourself, you'll have deserved it!!!
Ross, if you can accomplish quitting - and you're well on your way - then you CAN accomplish getting the weight off. Just think after both have been achieved...there's a whole new you in there feeling fighting fit and fir for anything. You CAN shift the weight...don't forget sipping water when you're peckish, eating fruit and....my old favourite - plenty of excercise!!!! :j:j:j
You sum it up perfectly where stress is concerned, hattiefats, never turn to fags to relieve stress in future - because it only makes it worse. Very well done for having come so far during today, a lot to praise yourself on!!! :T
Hi and a warm welcome, AandELee. Until you get to see your Nurse try to slow down on the fags, it really does make things easier. Once you've quit you can both put your money saved on fags into your Sealed pot!!!
Stay strong everyone and keep active, you've already come a long way and deserve to be so very, very proud of your achievements, but you'll soon be feeling just how worth it it all is. I wish you ALL what you wish for yourselves - to QUIT what is only a dangerous habit and YOU CAN DO IT!!!!

Happy new year all
As with many of you I'm seriously considering giving up the killer sticks once more... Only difference is that this time I'd like to make it more permanent
does anyone know anything about the 'Instant quit smoking' method? (instantquit.co.uk)
I know that nothing beats sheer determination to want to stop for good, but I thought I'd consider peoples opinions of the 'Bioresonance' technique first, before I jumped in0 -
.........oh I have to Ross, after all I needed to believe in myself to get me through 12 great years free from the fags...and if I can do that so can everyone AND you, my dear friend CAN shift that weight! The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step - are you ready?!

Hi Brazen,
I have taken a quick peek at the website, my first impression is that I would be very sceptical and would stick to tried and trusted methods, i.e. nicorette products, Zyban and Champix, hypno etc.
my reason for this is i can not comprehend how this can work, and what it actually does, i can not undewrstand how it can unstick the nicotine etc from the cells...or have i read it completely wrong lol
That is of course my personal opinion

Hi Everyone
I'm on day 1, so far 12 hours. New year~New meThis is one of my many attempts over the past years of giving up and I gave up on giving up. So with the help of this site, my patches {that don't seem to like me and fall off my arm after a while..need glue} and my Inhalator that has not been out of my hands all day, I am going to take one day at a time and stick to my plan.
Reasons:
to be able to take a deep breath
to have a healthy bank balance {one day}
to put on weight {yes, my aim is to be 8.5 (how do you do half on a keyboard 1/2?) or 9 stone}
to have a house smelling of candles or just fresh air
to not go out in the rain in the dark to find an open shop!
to say 'No thank you, I don't smoke'
to be proud of myself
AND have money to go IKEA Lakeside
Ross thanks for your help and hopefully this will end up on the forum x
Azkaban~~I could not think of a name and as Harry Potter was on TV tonight, well..I ended up as Azkaban~I've now had to learn how to spell it
Well done to all who have quit or are quitting today.
Love Az {thought I would shorten it ?}

Well done on your quit and making it this far through the day, if you have not had a read through some of the previous posts, i would urge you to, as they are a good source of information and you can pick up some really good tips from them.
If during your quit you get really depserate, come on here, leave a message, someone will be lurking around and will respond to you.
I wish you all the best, and welcome not only to giving up smoking thread, but to a new smoke free you.

Hi Ross
I was being a bit sneaky saying I had stopped 3 years, but it has run over the three year period - 2011 = 1 day!!
I stopped April 2009. I had a blip after three days and then got on in earnest and never looked back. I had a few really angry iffy days, but they did pass. It was this thread that helped me keep at it in the first few difficult weeks.
I don't even recall the actual day that I officially stopped. It just kind of happened after so many years of frustration, guilt, shame and tears.
I never want to take it for granted that I have stopped as it is such an achievement after so many years of slavery.
You are doing really well yourself.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Larmy I would do the exact same thing, its strange isnt it, my dad quit 18 years ago, and he said for about the first 10 years he didnt see himself as a non smoker, but as a person who was quitting ...
still your nearly at the 2 year mark, that will be a huuuuuuuuge achievement

Still smoke free since midnight - sometimes I wish I wasn't so pig headed about things like this, I'm too much of an all or nothing girl! So we nearly had tears a couple of hours ago and I've found this evening rather difficult :rotfl:Got to laugh, it will be worth it in the end.
I will not let nicotine control me.This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0
