Have been fine after my couple of wobbly hormonal weeks!

Had 15" of snow and am effectively snowed in so it's soooooooooooo nice that I haven't got the 'How many fags have I got? How can I get some more? ETC ETC' stress!

Keep warm, well and happy everyone!

    Hi everyone

Thanks for all the encouragement :) The last cigarette managed to last until last night, I don't know why I put it off so long :( this morning of course I was scrambling around looking for cig ends in the ashtrays, disgusting :(

I'm determined to do it cold turkey...I don't have a problem with nrts at all but I'm thinking that sooner or later I will have to come off them as well and go cold turkey anyway,is that right? I'm prolonging this I know I am but I'm determined that two puffs from a 2 day old cig butt (I need to be graphic to get the point across to myself how filthy it is) are not going to stop me from quitting.

    Hi folks

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

LOL at Dundeedoll - I couldn't cope with the bullying so I had to come here and who do I find??? YOU! Only kidding :) Nice to see someone I 'know' here :D

Well I didn't smoke at all yesterday and still haven't had one :T
I'm not going to say I have already stopped smoking as I still have 2/3 packs in the house... But I am getting there by having my smoke-free days, I think about cigs much less but this method doesn't work for most people.

ML - I've been there, looking thru the ashtrays for 'smokeable' sized butts :o OMG its embarrassing isn't it - the shame! I bet everyone on here has done it tho.

When I gave up (stopped for 4 years) it was so nice to be able to go to the cinema and not run out at the end to have a cig, and to be able to relax without wondering if I might run out of cigs of an evening  And once I paid a taxi company £6 plus the cost of a packet of cigs just so I could have one before I went to bed, even tho I had smoked loads that evening :o

Just awful - can't wait to be free of that again.

I am going to go to the library once we have had our 'thaw' and try to get Alan Carrs book - not sure where my copy is.

That's it ml, keep that determination paramount and never let it sink.

I have honestly been through the stage of looking at ashtrays purely in case there was one that still had a lengthy butt on it so you're only going through the natural instincts. By the end of this evening you only have 2 more days left when you'll still have nicotine in your system, for now, keep drinking the water to help cleanse you even more on the inside. Don't forget taking baths/showers too - great for cleansing you on the outside where you perspire a certain amount of the much from (amazing eh...disgusting too!) I have to agree re the NRTs, but they still help wean a lot of folk gently off, but I believe it's best to break the actual hand to mouth habit by any means, and one of our quitters even uses a pipe, bit it works for her and that's what's important. If it feels good, Mags, then give it a try - not necessarily a pipe, but anything!

I honestly believe this for now is your best chance at quitting so go all out to do so...just remember though you could well be one of the lucky ones who finds it such a doddle. Men usually find it easier, but they're not so hormonal as we dear things...:A, but still a lot of the gals have come on and said "it wasn't half as bad as I'd thought it would be!" Keep active, ml.....and keep strong and use that willpower well!! ;) You CAN do it....we all KNOW you can! Keep chatting to us.

    Best wishes, Sue x

Hi again, Frugal....please let me know where it is you two have met so I can keep away!!! Two threads with DD on is plenty, but thoughts of yet another - NO, NO.....please!!!!! Only joking (am I?) ;)

Congratulations on not having any yesterday AND today :T - keep pretending you're on Day 1 and see how it goes.

The lengths I've gone to in order to get 'my fix' have been mind boggling...and the distances and the costs to do so is shocking! :o You sound as though you're one of the type of quitters that could well make a fresh pledge to yourself each day -"I won't smoke any cigarettes at all today, but I can smoke as many as I want tomorrow." Then renew it each morning and stand firm!

Go for the Alan Carr book you too ML, it could really help you to read it and keep on reading it.

Good luck girls and just remember it is doable!!!!!

Hey ml2008  Good to see you back. We've all done pretty disgusting things when desperate for a fag. I tore up my last few ciggies when I quit earlier in the year and put them in the outside wheelie bin. You know what's coming next don't you? YUK! Rooting about in the bin is NOT a good look!
I also fell off the wagon for a stupid evening 3 weeks ago - but got back on it and haven't looked back (although I had a little craving earlier today funnily enough). Stick with it and it will get easier. There's always an excuse to smoke - stressed, drunk, just the one, etc - but it all achieves the same thing. Full time smoking again. Next time you feel like having a cig, tell yourself that it won't just be one, you are consciously deciding to start again. Full on . Back to 20 a day. That's what I do whenever I get tempted now.

You're not alone hun, I too failed today a well meaning friend that I hadn't told I was quitting brought 20 around and where I could have said no I didn't, I just about wrestled them out of her hands. I haven't smoked them all but I have smoked a few and it's better to be honest about it instead of pretending I hadn't bothered. Tomorrow is another day and I will do this.

Excellent advice, copperjar!!! :T:T:T You're doing so very well now and are a great example to those starting out. However, how far have you come now...and what means are you quitting by???? Remember to pop it on the Title bar - please, it helps everyone. :)

Thanks for the heads up, Frugal, I'll steer clear! ;) Ok, onward you go again tomorrow. It sounds as though you have every right to be pleased with yourself, so well done on that. You know you can do it and so do the rest of us..and you'll get there just as soon as you stay strong! You've done it all once and you CAN do it again. Keep chatting to us. :)

ml, stick with Frugal, I think she can help pull you through...vice versa too. You both are at the same place, looking at the same goal...keep determined to get there and do all the things you know will help you so much. Come on ml!!!!! It'll happen for you! :)

Never put off til tomorrow what you can do today seems to apply here. :D Go for it girls.
