I have just taken my 1st blue champix. bit worried as I have been having very vivid dreams on the white ones, wiped everything off the bedside table the other night in an attempt to stop myself falling in my dream!!
  • HI Again Everyone

Sorry haven't been on for a while but haven't been doing very well in cutting down. But I am starting a temp job tomorrow so hopefully can start cutting down then. Noticed this week I was smoking 3 an hour and couldn't believe it. That's practically one after the other. I really need to cut down big time and then give up the dreadful weed.

Anyway well done and good luck to everyone who are already succeeding.

    Hi all!

I ususally lurk on the DFW forum, but am after a little bit of advice.....

This time 3 years ago, I went and had hypnosis to stop smoking... and it worked. For 6 months I didn't smoke and had no desire to, didn't have that feeling that I was missing anything and it didn't bother me that my OH was still smoking. Then I went on holiday and smoked! It was as though the hypnosis hadn't worked on my 'holiday brain!' When I came back from holiday, I stopped smoking for about another 3 weeks, but it slowly crept back in!

I was back up to about 20 a day, but due to trying to sort my finances out, I have got it down to 60 a week.... and its been easy!

Now, my question is, is it worth going for hypnosis again, or will the fact that it failed before mean that my brain knows it can get round it and I'll be back here again! If it lasts for 6 months at a time I can live with that as its only about £35 for the session, so it out-weighs the £15 a week I spend at the mo.

Any one with any advice, or who has been through something similar and can shed any light would be gratefully received!

    Many thanks in advance, Nats

I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!

    Hi Nats,

A bit of a tricky one there.. I did hypnosis and it worked, then it didn't. It's the same I find, with the Allen Carr stuff. It works whilst you remember and then your brain forgets and you start smoking again. If you sincerely think that hypnosis is the one for you then do it. Do they do a top-up session so you don't start again after 6 months?

Well, everyone, I passed a BIG test yesterday. I went to the pub and got completely plastered and didn't once think about having a ciggie :T I had the hangover from hell this morning but I think it would have been far worse if I had smoked too. I'm so very pleased with myself :D

Hi HHH, you may well find that the dreams become far less vivid now you're on the blue ones, though in all honesty most of us have sleep/dream problems however we give up. The good news is that it doesn't last for long, so bear with it and get as much exercise in the day to help sleep that bit better. Good luck with not wiping out the rest of the bedroom!!!;)

I'm not sure if I sent you a tips PM snowwhite, but will send one on just in case. If you then stick to all of the tips, you really will find you won't want/need to smoke that many, if any - if you're determined! As soon as you crave the next one, have a glass of water and a clementine and promise yourself one soon, then repeat the same procedure at the next craving. If you're going to succeed you need to be very strong and use plenty of willpower, it'll get you there - if you use it! Also, it'll benefit you if you come to the thread more and let go of your feelings. Good luck with more success in the temp job. You may well be one of those who are better off quitting as you are now, rather than cutting down first. Some people cut right down well, then find excuses to 'just have one more' and all too soon go straight back up again. Give it some thought and give it plenty of willpower!!! :D

Hi Nats, what a real shame that was that you started again after going so well for so long. I don't think it's anything to do with the hypnosis 'wearing off' I honestly believe you got caught up in the relaxation of the holiday and your OH relaxing with his cigs. Why not have the hypnosis done again - then when on holiday in future use plenty of willpower as well as the tips we give out that help for such times - water, OJs, clementines etc. You know you've done so well before, go on Nats, give it a go again and hang on to your health - and money!!!;)

Excellent news Naomi!!!! Sounds as though you deserved the hangover from hell, but congratulations on not succumbing to having a stick! You deserve to be pleased with yourself. Keep it going Naomi, you'll get there!:j

Keep up the willpower everyone and stay strong at all times.

  • hi everyone
well i am on day 9 of the champix and they are being good to me , no sickness thank goodness!
i have cut down without even realising. i usually smoke 15-20 a day
    tuesday i smoked 6 , wednesday 8 , and yesterday only 5
i just don't feel the need at the moment - it's the habit ones i need to get rid of (once i've dropped kids at school, work lunch break and on finishing work)

anyway i only have 8 left in the pack and once they are gone i'm not buying any more . i don't see the point in carrying on til my official quit date as i feel i can do it now

well done to all of you who are doing well and hugs to those who aren't
    lou x
    smoke free since 01/02/09 :T
thanks to all those who've helped
  • Still not smoking despite many temptations to do it!! Also completed big report without smoking. Still on patches but little desire to smoke at all sometimes an occasional craving wafts in but it soon goes. Feeling a bit better all round as well.

It was a sudden impulse to give up as a result of flu but a good decision all round. Smoking is like the classic abusive partner - life much more boring but healthy without him/her!!

day 2 on the blue champix and I have been heartily sick this morning about half an hour after taking it. feel fine now though but am worried the pill came up too! havent totally given up so maybe that's why. cigarettes taste horrible now so champix is obviously working and if I do have one I only smoke about half. was worrying this morning about coping with something weeks away and then told myself not to be stupid and takes things one day at a time! thanks for everyones stories I always read but dont post often, be sure you stories are helping me along.
