Evening everyone just to let you know i'm back from Barcelona had a really good time with the money I have saved from not smoking.
I was a bit worried before I went that I would be tempted to smoke as you can still smoke in bars and clubs in spain.
However i'm please to say I did not even think about smoking. I actually found it really frustrating as it was really smokey and made my eyes water and my clothes stunk.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Oh Carl, that is such terrific news, I honestly can't tell you just how thrilled I am to hear you didn't buckle!!! :T:T:T:T:T I'm delighted you had a wonderful time and could really concentrate on that alone rather than have had a fight on your hands.
Congratulations Carl, you really have done yourself so very proud, I'm so chuffed and was grinning from ear to ear as soon as I was reading your post through.I can sleep in peace now!

Morning everyone,
Congratulations to dianek2c, itselliebelle and all those who have quit!
I can't believe it's been five weeks since I had a cigarette - I'm convinced that without Champix, I'd still be smoking, so I'm extremely grateful to it for getting me started. Actually, I'm even more grateful to this thread, which nudged my to try it!
So, thank you all so much for giving your time and encouragement to those of us just starting out, your support is invaluable :T.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Hi everyone. Can I join the thread please?
Stupid stupid stupid me. After 7 smoke free years, having dealt with several major life events, and a very stressful job that has recently become easier, I started having the odd cigarette after meals on holiday in Italy. No idea where the craving came from, and no idea why I gave in. That was in April. Since then I seem to have gone from zero to about 30-40 a day. And I am so disappointed and cross with myself. Stopping smoking allowed me to address my debts, have an amazon book habit, and paid for me to take part in my favorite sport.
I cannot carry on smoking. My family has a huge history of lung cancer so I suspect there's a genetic element that makes us vulnerable, and I have Psoriasis which is aggravated by smoking. I also find myself in the ridiculous position of trying to finalise my debts (by paying some a day) yet blithely going out and paying over £12 a day on fags for myself.
Last time I stopped I used Allan Carr, and it worked. I was able to stop in spite of my DH carrying on smoking in front of me, and my FIL (who I worked for at the time) doing the same in my "smoke free" room every day. I'm just at the point in which I'm about to read it again, and would really really appreciate some support and back up. Will you guys help me out?Saving up £25000/£3500 by Jan 1st 2012 by selling my clutter. Remember I'm doing it for Dad.
Textiles, languages, travel and a lovely home are not stupid things to want. You have immediate family's support.Appreciate what I've achieved so far. Other people's opinion of me is none of my business.0 -
Morning Sockdrawer, I am off to work so just wanted to say a quick hello and welcome.
You have done the very best thing in coming to the thread and joining us. I have been very "stupid" as you call it many many timesand we may have lost the battle but we can still go on to win the war! Yay.
Big hugs to you and also just get back on that bicycle and join us on our merry journey. Not long before you can get back to your Amazon habit - I have one too.!:DGrocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Hi Sockdrawer,
I think you're doing a good thing by joining this thread. I read it from start to finish (which took a while), and found by the time I caught up with the current posts, it had put me in the right frame of mind to continue my own efforts to give up. I've now quit for over 5 weeks, and still check in every day to this thread to see how others are doing and to take inspiration from all those who post.
Best of luck in your bid to quit - I look forward to seeing you post!I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Welcome also to sockdrawerYep, been there and got the T shirt many times - this time my quit seems a lot more real somehow and I'm fiercely committed to staying quit - you'll find the thread a great support, as I mentioned to bargainmad.
Well done to splishsplash :j Isn't it just the greatest feeling getting some quit time behind you! Well done to you, Carl! It can be tough abroad, when it feels like everyone smokes.
And well done to all of us. What a great group of non-smoking stars we truly are :A:money:Keep posting everyone - share how you're getting on and read here daily for motivation!
