Well I thought I'd get back on here sooner! I have one very poorly one year old who will not sleep!

I landed a new contract yesterday and my first thought was oooo i can have a glass of wine and a couple of fags when the kids are in bed, but hey ho i didnt (well i did have the wine!!) and I met my new client today & went really well but I havent thought I wanted one today at all cos I have been so geared up for meeting my client!

Hope everyones keeping well, havent had time to read everyones posts.... but I did see a comment about Xmas dinner at mine. Haha, its all mine and Im not sharing!!

(PS Yorkies were yummy and huuuuuggee!!!)

A born gannet for sure! :(:(:( Ah well, tis no good everyone, but you can't say I didn't try. ;)

Good to see you again Di and I do so hope your little one is soon feeling very much better. I so hate to see little darlings when they're poorly and can't tell you what's wrong. Plenty of TLC though and that in itself is worth the world. :A I'm glad you've obviously enjoyed time with your fellar, he'll soon be so very proud of you and what a fantastic surprise it'll be. :)

Congratulations with the new contract, that'll keep your mind occupied.

I'm pleased all's going well with you too itselliebell. :) You're all sounding so positive, so determined and if you have those two, you're well on your way to beeing freed from all the nastiness of nicotine! Feeling so much healthier will come sooner than you possibly think, it's quite surprising to most of us. Try taking more water to help any headache problems, the more hydrated you are the better it is. I've never heard of it affecting the bladder and we've had quite a few gals with it before - maybe it's YOU!!! :D Not the totm is it? I know tmi! :o

I'm sure the unsettled sleeping will sort itself out asap, you'll enjoy the dreams more then, according to the lads at least. BTW, I'm in England too, the southwest. That is amazing that the practice nurse calls you once a week until you feel you don't need it anymore, I can barely believe it as I'm sure it doesn't happen here! What a way to spur folk on and have someone to chat to, excellent news! :T

Hi missi1! Please try not to worry yourself too much about your problems with Zyban, we've already had folk on here who have got on well with, and had success with, Champix after reacting badly to Zyban. I'd advise the same to you as with itselliebell, drink plenty of water and keep yourself well hydrated. It just makes more sense to me. Try to relax and take each day as it comes, and all being well, one day you'll be reading these posts and thinking well that was then and now I'm free of it all!!! :D;)

All the best everyone, I really do mean it. You CAN do this, just as so many of us already have. We ALL wish you well. :j

Thanks Sue, thats really helped me alot, especially the bit about ex Zyban users!!
Was thinking to myself this morning before I took the first one, stop panicking and relax as I realise that certain side effects can come from the mind and being anxious.

So, took the first tablet halfway through my breakfast as have read that people say this helps to stop any nausea and I was fine. Just a touch of heartburn midday but Im used to that anyway so know how to control it.

Also, it looks as though I wont need to keep taking a letter to my docs for a repeat on the Champix as I phoned the NHS stop smoking today and they said that the initial referral letter is all thats needed so I'll go the docs tomo and ask the receptionist about it. :)
  • Just a quick post to all those who are trying to stop smoking.

Good luck and keep at it - it is worth the pain!

I gave up 2 years ago and have never felt better. One of the things that I did was take the money from my 20/30 a day habit and spend the money every week on wine. If you do the maths that it a lot of wine!

I now have a new hobby and my taste buds can actually taste the wine better!

Some might say I have swapped one addiction for another but I think the occasional bottle of fine wine is a good swap :D

Hi allan, great to hear how well your doing, 1 on the CM reading is brilliant!!
Im on day 2 of Champix and so far so good, be great if it carries on like this. My dose will increase Sat and then again next week and am hoping to quit by day 10 max.

How long after you started Champix did you quit allan?
  • Hi am on day 8 of my champix now and am doing great. Only smoked about 3 cigs today and I think they were for the sake of it!!
Sunday is my official stop day but think it may be earlier fingers crossed :j
Hope everyone else is doing okay x
  • everything is going great on champix, have been getting pretty bad nausea for an hour or so after my first tablet, but i can cope with that. it is strange, i keep forgetting that i'm quitting smoking, because they very rarely cross my mind. before i've always thought non-stop about wanting a smoke for at least the first week, but now it's so easy.

had a disaster on weds night, MIL2B spilled a plate of spag bol over my lap, came up in pretty bad blisters, probs going to end up scarred, but even through all the stress, i didn't turn to cigs for comfort/relief.

tonight will be a real test though, as i'll be drinkin. half of the people i'm going with smoke, but on the plus side, the other half don't. plus i'll be warm all night, oh i can't wait!!

    2 weeks 3 days - champix

missi1 - i quit for good on day 11 of taking champix.

itselliebell - with regards to your nausea, i had a similar issue. i found that taking the tablet say 10 to 30 mins after food stopped me feeling nauseous. just so your not taking it on an empty stomach. so try this unless your already doing it?
i hope the blisters heal, im sure you will not end up scarred fingers crossed.

bargainmad - good luck with the quit day on sunday, i am sure you will be fine. think positive. the champix definetely do there thing to help, the rest is up to you.

Just nipping in very quickly...........in a rush as I've got a friend coming over for dinner tonight - beef stew and herb dumplings followed by plum & apple pie with homemade custard!
Perfect on such a miserable day........bit of good old comfort food.

Todays weather is why I've posted.............how glad am I that I have stopped smoking :)

Don't quite know what excuse I would have made to my 16 yr old to be going out into the garden on such a filthy wet day:D.............but I'm sure I would have thought of 1!

Well done to everyone..........you all sound so positive.

Hope the champix is ok missi, I know you were worried because of Zyban experiences.

Will be thinking of you on Sunday or have you stopped already BARGAINMAD101?

dianek2c Hope all's well with you.........I know it must be hard while OH is away.

itselliebell Spag bol burns ???? I had an enourmous burn from an iron falling flat onto my hand - was really bad, I used bio oil and you can hardly see it now.

    Enjoy tonight and stay strong!

Allan lovely to hear you're finding it easy :T
