Well, today's the day. I've been gearing myself up for it, and I'm going for it now. It's been five months since I stupidly started again after several years as a non smoker, and now I'm bored and fed up of it. Thankfully I know, and can remember that I feel so much better not smoking. Something I didn't have last time I stopped. Reading Allan Carr, and going to youtube. Will drop in later.Saving up £25000/£3500 by Jan 1st 2012 by selling my clutter. Remember I'm doing it for Dad.

I have just found NiQuitin21mg Patches on Amazon for £7-99. I am struggling to remain a non smoker after 4 years of not smoking. Went on holiday to Turkey in June with a load of smokers and I got complacent and had a few! Now I am back on the patches BIG TIME!0

Oh dear. That's what happened to me. Holiday in Italy and had a few. Next thing I knew I was back at 30 a day. Hope it goes well for you.Saving up £25000/£3500 by Jan 1st 2012 by selling my clutter. Remember I'm doing it for Dad.

Well, day 5 of Champix today and the cigs are tasting off nothing and not giving me that "hit" whatsoever so I think I could giving up earlier than planned even though they say to carry on smoking until at least day 7.
It's definately not psychological thinking because of the huge difference which I suppose may take longer to start taking effect on some people. I also feel totally relaxed today and not rushing around as normal.
Sue, you put that so well with the sera sera.0 -
My how the tme has gone by
for all those in the realms of quitting i can only urge you to stick with it ,
it is so worth it ,
who would choose to continue to have their lives and routines dictated to by a foul smelling, life shortening, pocket emptying chain
FREE YOURSELF AND STAY FREE
the just one wont hurt has raised its head a few times
My DD has just gone to uni this weekend but i knew it wouldnt make me feel better quite the contrary
like an earlier poster i visualise all those foul disgusting tabbies and the sheer mountain of empty packets i would of consumed it is an effective deterrent for me
it would of been a WHOPPING 4099:eek: NOW THATS A lot OF TABBIES SHUDDER THE THOUGHT
stay strong peeps keep reading and posting on here the decision to quit will be the best ever for you and your families most importantly DO IT FOR YOU
stay focused on WHY you decided the time is right for you NOW and prepare for those nasty little cravings and temptations they do pass dont give in
in my thoughts YOU CAN DO IT

Hiya everyone
Sorry to have AWOL this past week or so - not a great week, and have been back and forth to the vets with one poorly kittycat (chest infection and wheezing) Yikes! I need shares in that veterinary practice....
Still catching up on here - lots of people doing really well, so well done :j
Just jump back on the horse Catherine - we've all been there, done that and got the t-shirt. You sound really determined and motivated and you will do it! All the best to you sockdrawer - hope it goes well for you too. Keep reading here and telling us how things are going and we'll do our best to help.
xxlaurissaxx - I think it's normal to get those struggling days in the early months - they do get fewer and fewer and last less and less time as your determination and commitment grow. Stick with it - you'll ride through it!

jammy, I really could not have put it any better than you just did, perfect!! Anyone reading it who is just starting out, or anyone struggling at present and reads that will surely come to view fags for all they are - disgusting and life-shortening at the very, very least!!
Sorry missi1, that should have read "cay sera sera", I put the quotation marks in the wrong place.....sounds like much of my life! :rotfl: Well done with Champix missi1, you're doing so well with it, possibly the best move you've made! See what Daz or Alan think about your feelings of when to actually stop, but if they aren't sure then stick to the instructions and play it safe. In other words - I ain't a clue!!!!!
Hi again sockdrawer, it's good to see you going for it again. We will all be behind you, and you know what you're in for having done it all before. You also know just how easy it is to slip back , though I'm sure you won't let that happen again, not this time!!;)
....much the same for you also msfreddiefrogdog. A sad shame, but .....a warm welcome to the board and to starting to quit. The thread is a great place to air your feelings, worries and thoughts. Our best wishes are with you all the way through.
Well done on 5 weeks of stopping jinky, keep it up and stay strong throughout!! :T
Have a wonderful, healthy week everyone....another week even closer to that GOAL!!!!! You are doing marvellously, keep it going.

Lovely to see you there Pam, I wondered where you were! So sorry to hear about your poor cat, I really do hate to see animals poorly. I know what you mean about prices though, but they're so worth it!!
Take care, of kitty too.

Thanks Sue. It's funny - as a smoker I'd pay out £180 a month for ciggies. As far as little kitty cat's concerned, I've no qualms paying out for her - and this episode has cost me less than a month's ciggy money. Kind of puts it into perspective!

PS Off topic, but this made me laugh (as I've had previous experience trying to get pills down her)....
1) Grasp cute, cuddly, purring kittycat firmly, before she senses your intentions
2) Use the whole of your adult sized physique to wrestle 8lb of twisting, wriggling, spitting and hissing [formerly cuddly] ball of fur and pop tablet into it her mouth
3) Retrieve pill from other side of the room, stem blood flow from the numerous scratches and bandage as best as you can
4) Retrieve cat from the top of your curtains, where she has taken refuge and is now hissing and spitting like a puma
5) Extricate yourself from the curtains and the curtain pole, which collapsed when said kittycat fought like a demon
6) Somehow detach spitting ball from bleeding thighs where she has attached herself, seemingly by grapple hooks
7) Get more bandages, try to stem flow of blood from forearms, face and thigh, while kittycat washes herself calmly, ears flattened against her pretty head, quietly growling a warning at you
Take the antibiotic pill yourself… with all the scratches you collected, you now need it more that your cat, who by comparison seems really quite healthy!
9) Call veterinary service to come and administer the tablet to your cat, they wear heavyweight chain mail suits, have a better equipped First Aid kit and they’re insured!
10) Spend next 3 weeks fixing your living room.Lovely to see you there Pam, I wondered where you were! So sorry to hear about your poor cat, I really do hate to see animals poorly. I know what you mean about prices though, but they're so worth it!!
Take care, of kitty too.

:rotfl::rotfl:Thanks for that Pam, it really did make me giggle...wince a lot too mind at the 'sights' and 'sounds' of it all. It's amazing how such a docile creature can suddenly turn into something possessed when tablets come into play.
Definitely leave it to the Vets in future!!! Just think after all that lot, the old YOU would have needed fags by the dozen!! The cash is certainly better spent on kitty though!Seriously, I do hope she's soon well again...and the scratches healed.

3 weeks - champix
hi everyone, thought i would pop in and let you know how ive been doing.
its really going well to be honest, and hardly any cravings at all now. one thing i do notice is the smell of other smokers, someone got in the van with me yesterday who had just had a cig and it stunk ! where as i never ever noticed it before.
that must have been what others thought of me lol.
i am back at smokefree tomorrow morning to pick up 6 weeks worth of champix, then i go next mon 11th for my final visit to them.
keep it up everyone, its worth it. i am not going to the cash machine as much, im saving around £50 a week by
not smoking.
missi1 i think i quit for good on day 10 or 11. are you having any vivid dreams yet? i like them to be honest and will probably miss them when i stop taking the champix.0
