    day 4 today !
i am confident i will stop for ever. do the urges / cravings go in time?
i think half of it was habit with me though, i used to smoke in the car, every time i had a coffee, in the garage when cleaning the car, i even smoked at work as i work outdoors - with other smokers too.

dazco did the cravings come back after you stopped taking the champix ? was it difficult or easy for you.

The cravings were the same (minimal) after I stopped taking Champix. Like you, most of my cravings were subliminal and habitual. I would find myself nearly reaching out for the packet of cigs when I was in a certain situation. Getting in the car, starting a game of FIFA on the Xbox, first sip of my morning coffee etc.

I found an unwrapped pack of 20 when I was cleaning my car and they sat on my coffee table and then my mantle piece for over a month, it never bothered me. But if my partner leaves an opened packet with a lighter on the coffee table in front of me, and I start playing FIFA, I have to move them out of my sight. Even if it is just under a cushion next to me. It is not because I crave them (I don't think) but because my brain spots them and decides to have one before it remembers I no longer smoke :rotfl::rotfl:

excellent to hear that - i am interested to know if you saved the money you usually spent on cigs? what advice can you give on saving it please.

Sorry Allan I do not keep that much of an eye on the money I am not spending. All I know is that I now go a lot longer between visits to the cashpoint.

Hi all, thought I'd check in and share the latest.

I had a bit of a rough time with side effects on the 25mg invisi patches, no sleep, nausea, dizziness, so came off them Thurs with the view to go down a step on to 15mg which I got today from drop in cessation.

I was naughty and had a couple of cigs yest but the funny thing was, they tasted awful and I did'nt feel any benefit from them so going to start the 15mg today and see how it goes. I have also purchased the 10mg as a back up just in case these ones are too strong and to see me through to next Sat when I go back to Cessation.

I only blowed 5 on the carbon monixide test today which was 17 two weeks ago so was pleased wih that.

One thing that crossed my mind is that I was smoking menthols and the nicotine in them is almost half of what the normal cigs have in them so maybe thats why the 25mg patch was too much.

Looking forward to trying these now so I can get back on track.

Well done everyone not smoking and trying to give up.
Catherine, you have done so well, congrats :j, bet you feel amazing!
Dazco, thats an amazing achievement with the £1000 savings!

Will be back again soon to update on my progress.

6 days - Im quite proud of myself :D
Cant believe I would have wasted nearly £35 on killing myself in just the last 6 days  Im really loving the silkquit thing. When I feel like giving in I just look at it and it gives me a boost!

Im finding its getting a bit easier every day to ignore the cravings. Iv started uni this week so that has taken my mind off smoking.

"quite proud of yourself Catherine???? You should be jumping with joy, dancing in the streets...ok, maybe not yet, but......! You've done marvellously and should be proud, after all it's YOU who's done it. A great accomplishment Catherine, very well done. :T :T Now stay strong and focused...on the Uni work too!

Excellent news DD, you did yourself so proud...your little one too!! Look at all that time behind you already, it must feel soooo very good! :T:T

Thanks for helping Alan so much Daz, it's good when others can help as I haven't a clue about champix, I only know what others have said. BTW Daz.....just what sort of dreams do you juys have??? Then again maybe I don't really want to know.

Hi nirelandguy!!! :wave:It's wonderful to see you back with us!!! A week free of them is wonderful and is certainly great news for you or should be...BUT it's further down the line that you really DO feel benefits NIguy. Running for a bus, walking up hill, smelling a darn sight sweeter...and feeling so happy to be pocketing/saving the money that you would have spent. Can you really tell me you'll get no buzz from any of that? Try something new in your life NIguy, take up an old hobby again, or a new one..one that makes you excited thinking about it all. What you get out of life amounts to all you put in too, so try getting out more, even if it's only for walks. Who knows who you might meet then. Or join a club that you'd like to be involved it. If you're not the socialising type (my hubby and I aren't) then try picking up a camera and taking a walk with wildlife, autumn will soon be upon us and you can get some fantastic shots from all that the trees and landscape have to offer. If you stick to it this time NIguy then in a few months time you'll feel so proud, happy, contented and marvellous to be freed from all the harm of fags. Can you honestly tell me that doesn't inspire you just a little??! Take life by the horns in whichever way makes you happy - and do get that rash seen to, please!!

Back late missi1, have to bolt right now.

    One particular dream;

I was on my way to watch England in South Africa (actually there, in my dream) and we was walking down a wide city street with hedges dividing the carriageways. Then we were shocked to see that the South African police pull up in a van and start beating and arresting us. I went and hid in the hedge in the middle of the road.

A police/soldier was looking through the hedge using the barrel of his rifle to separate the leaves and branches so he could peer in.

He saw me and I leaped out, I pressed my thumbs into his eyes and felt each eyeball gently pop as I forced my thumbs into them.:D:D:D:D

This dream happened ages ago (the world cup was still on) and I can still remember every detail, especially his eyeballs giving way. The fascist :rotfl:

Hi missi1, sorry I had to cut and run this afternoon but had to go out baby-sitting for DD and hubby. Bad luck with the smokes, but I'm thrilled to bits they had a horrible affect. :) Treat it as a blip and move on to being fag free again. Sorry to hear of your problems, but it sounds as though you're sorting it all out very logically and I wouldn't be at all surprised that you're quite right in your thinking.

Well done on the 5 on the CH test, a darn sight better than 17 and just look out for next time when it's lower still.! I hope the sleeping sorts itself our very soon. For now, take it all a day at a time and be thrilled with every tiny bit of success. What you're doing as remarkable and you should be praising yourself with every ciggy not smoked. Stay firm missi1, you'll be delighted further down the track, not to mention when you arrive at your destination...a station with the sign "QUITTERS"!!! ;)

You CAN do this, little by little. Do like Daz and Alan and save what you would have spent on cigs. You could even join me on the "Sealed Pot Challenge" if you wish. :) Be proud missi1.

Oh heck, Alan & Daz, remind me never to come across you two on a dark night...daylight either if you pop eyeballs out of folk!! ;) I see what they mean about Champix and dreams now. The things that "Taxi" used to say about them sounded almost naughty. No wonder he never gave up! Still dreaming I'll be a bob. ;)

Ah well, night all, especially to Daz & Alan. ;)

Keep it up everyone as it's all so worth it when you've finally cracked it. You'll feel elated and almost like a different person, I know darn well that I do. :jA day at a time, remember.
