Hi all! thanks again for your posts!
6 days - Im quite proud of myself
Cant believe I would have wasted nearly £35 on killing myself in just the last 6 days  Im really loving the silkquit thing. When I feel like giving in I just look at it and it gives me a boost!
Hope everyone else is ok? Missi how are you getting on, I know we have stopped around the same time, how are you feeling?
Im finding its getting a bit easier every day to ignore the cravings. Iv started uni this week so that has taken my mind off smoking.
Im glad I dont have to come into class stinking of smoke :j
Hope everyone else is ok!Stopped smoking 15th Nov 2010

You saying about your mouth watering struck a chord with me.......used to meet ex 1/2 way at a Little Chef/Petrol Station to hand over boys for the weekend and can remember that adrenaline high I had driving there because I knew I could then go in PS and buy my 20 menthols and drive home at the speed of light and I could then have the first of my once a fortnight all weekend fags.
I went in to our local shop today and when I was finished paying for my bits the girl asked me if I wanted 20 cigs for my lady
'Eeerrr, no I don't need them..........she's given up' I replied.
Yes, I used to go in there and pay with money out of a seperate purse and ask for the receipt and pretend they were for 1 of my clients. Secret Smoker! How ridiculous was that?
I have noticed that I am so much calmer (I also cut out tea & coffee as weel as nicotine tho') and my teeth look better as well as my skin looking nicer. All good stuff!

(Quoted the above so you'd all know what I'm on about in this post.)
Well today was the first 'meet' with ex DH to drop my son off (will be 7 wks since I've stopped but 'cos of summer hols and exDH being away etc) and as I thought about it I got a bit worried - would I get that craving to go and buy some for 'my' weekend? Would I cave in or cope?
Always meet 5.30.....got there 5.25.....5.55 still no sign of him......rang him......'Oh God, I fell asleep, I'll leave now'
Well at least 1/2 hr to wait.....off to petrol station shop to get paper. Was sat back in car before it crossed my mind that I hadn't thought about cigs!!!
He arrives, quick chat, off home. Realise I need to go into Morrisons for something for my dinner. In.........out. Back home I realise I didn't think about buying any cigs in Morrisons.
I am really pleased with myself :j:j:j
Well done Catherine for sticking at it - week 1 nearly over!
Deccie, Allan Well done.........keep coming on here for encouragement - it really is a huge help! It WILL get easier......Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Well done dundeedoll :j:beer::j Isn't it a brilliant feeling when you realise you're not thinking about ciggies every waking second! As time goes by, those 'I used to smoke in this situation' thoughts get fewer and fewer - and if you do have those thoughts, then they're quickly forgotten. Whoo hoo to you!
Allan - in a previous quit, I saved my ciggie money in a glass jar for the first couple of weeks, then treated myself. After that, I found it harder to afford to put the ciggie money in a jar - how daft is that  But it was a real motivational tool The other thing I did - which is really gross - was to put the contents of that last ashtray full of ash and stubbed out ciggies into a jar, with a bit of water. If I ever thought I fancied a ciggie, I went and had a whiff of it - it was so foul!! That was another good motivator
Well done too to Catherine :j You've almost gone a whole week - thats a HUGE achievement :j
Have a good weekend all - I'll be checking in to see how you're all doing,

champix - day 3 without cigarettes.
firstly can i say i am so glad i found this link, a big boost.
well i started on champix 2 weeks ago, and i had my last cigarette 3 days ago.
i had tried patches previously but i only stayed off cigarettes for 3 weeks, more a lack of will power on my part i guess.
however i am more determined than ever to stop this time, so i opted for champix after hearing positive results. i went to my local nhs smokefree centre, they told me about products but i opted/wanted champix. they gave me a letter/order to give to my gp for a prescription.
my first 0.5mg tablet made me feel a bit light headed to be honest on day 1, but that is the only ever negative feeling. i do get regular vivid dreams but to be honest i quite like them lol. you remember everything about the dreams.
i have still had cravings over the last 3 days, but nothing too bad - again will power is needed, i dont want to smoke again 100% ! and i am confident that i will not. i feel its more habit than cravings!
i aim to save the money i spent on cigarettes, how did you save it? did you put it away each week etc? any tips here for saving? i was spending £6+ per day. id buy a pack of cigarettes, a can of pop and a paper everyday on the way to work. i havent done this for 3 days. i know its only 3 days but i am already £20 better off, i havent been to the cash machine lol which feels weird.
i will let you all know how i get on and keep looking here from now on for support.
thanks.
p.s for those here who used champix how long did you take them for? the guy at nhs smokefree says i must complete a 12 week course. is this true as i have heard people saying they only took them for a few weeks etc.
Well done Allan :T:T:T:T
You ARE going to beat this :j:j:j:j
The dreams are terrific aren't they?:D:D
I was on Champix and finished the course about a month early, not on purpose, I just stopped remembering to take them. I will freely admit that the tablets were a massive crutch to me before that, though.
Keep up the good work, and you are right to be proud of yourself, you have given up smoking :beer:Catherine25 wrote: »Hi all! thanks again for your posts!

Ok so finally decided to throw myself into this and am now 1 week off the fags, which is the longest i've ever been off them, However I am having some issues in that the patches have me out in rashes all over my body and the initial elation has wore off, meaning for the first day or 2 I felt all happy to be off them now its like is this it, is this all there is? I thought life was supposed to be great being smoke free, I don't feel any different to be honest. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. There is no great party for giving up. You have done it...end of.
That is all there is.
I have been off them for......well you know what?
I dont know......because that's not important
What is, is that I am off them, and wont be back on them again
You can do the same:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
Today I will pass the "£1000 not spent on cigarettes" mark.
It feels very very good:D:D:j:j:j:j:j:j

day 4 today !
i am confident i will stop for ever. do the urges / cravings go in time?
i think half of it was habit with me though, i used to smoke in the car, every time i had a coffee, in the garage when cleaning the car, i even smoked at work as i work outdoors - with other smokers too.
dazco did the cravings come back after you stopped taking the champix ? was it difficult or easy for you.
frugalpam thanks for the saving tip, it made me laugh as i am now wondering how i afforded to smoke lol. i honestly must have been spending £45+ per week. i would like something to show for it, so i must try and save at least £25 per week.0
