Hi all, WELL DONE :T to all of you that have stopped smoking.
Missi and Christine
Don't feel too bad....you are (as others have said) on here, so that's a very positive step and shows that you DO want to do it! Don't give up giving up!!!
I tried to stop quite a few times (this time after stopping 4 years before) but jsut couldn't - most recently about June. Decided to give up, ran out of cigs 6pm ish. Went to bed about 10pm.
Up at 11.30pm....joggers/cardi on and off 'to get petrol' :rotfl::rotfl:
Then 1st of August ran out 11.30 am.........hadn't decided to give up, just didn't get anymore and here I am nearly 6 weeks later!
Had friend over for roast at 6.30pm tonight - took him home at 11pm - and he went out for ciggi 5 times.
After the 2nd he said:
'Sorry, you must be really gasping for 1 seeing me have 1 out there'
It hadn't actually occured to me at all! I truly, truly did not even think about smoking. How great was that?
I am sooo pleased about that.
So, if you can 'just' get over the first couple of weeks or so it really really will get easier.
Keep coming on here.........it is so very, very helpful.
You CAN do it!Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Hi all, hope everyone is well!
After a hopeless week of trying to give up I am seriously considering champix and wondered if anyone knows if these are available from the nhs give up smoking advisors which is where I am going tomorrow or do you have to see doctor?
Thanks in advance
Champix is available on the NHS, it worked a treat for me
It makes your dreams weird and vivid but just enjoy them.
Catherine;
Please try again. You can beat this evil drug :j:j:j:j
Imagine you are climbing a rope and you have to get to the top, when you have a cigarette it is like slipping down to the bottom of the rope.
You have to do all the climbing again
Keep climbing and do not slip down. :T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Thanks for all your advice and support, fantastic as ever and keeps me motivated to succeed.
Went to see the local stop smoking advisor today and I mentioned Champix and that I'd like to try it but she did say I would have to see doctor for that which is understandable. she mentioned that the side effects are very common but I suppose everyone acts differently to each product and she advised that I try the patches having failed on inhalators and gum but that I could combine them if necessary.
I kept waking up last night and had some really weird dreams about me going to ask the advisor for Champix (and I have'nt even started anything yet lol)
So, next quit date, tomorrow morning, I really hope I can do it this time and will post on here soon to keep you updated.
Thanks again for the great support.0 -
Hi missi1 - how's it going? Just wondering if you went ahead with your quit date, or have decided to wait a while? Are you going to go ahead and try the Champix? I didn't use it myself so can't help, but I know a few here have had success with it.
I think I'm now going to have to find a dieting thread  I don't think I eat more since I quit, but I know smoking speeds up the metabolism, and that's why so many quitters put on some weight. I've put on a stone :eek::eek:

Hi Pam
I finally managed to quit this morning using my new patches. How I did this and planned it was that I had my last cigarette at 7am today (after having previously failed when having my last cigarette the night before and using only inhalators and gum) and then I put the patch on. This is the longest length of time I have gone without cigarettes and feel the patches are a godsend! I've felt full all day and the thought of a cigarette made me feel a bit queasy. I was and still am just slightly lightheaded today and walked around the supermarket very slowly tonight after work lol but at the same time, I feel like a little kid at xmas opening all their presents :j haha because I have actually had no cravings at all, even at lunchtime! Now last week when I kept trying to quit, the thought of no lunchtime cigarette made me feel quite depressed. Wow what a difference, I can actually now believe I can beat it...finally!!! I wanted to avoid the Champix because I seem to be quite sensitive to drugs and very anxious after the side effects I had with Zyban in the past.
I think I might be following you on the dieting thread although Im going to give Wii fit a go every night as that helped me lose 1 and half stone last yr along with dieting. Im also going to think of other things I can do besides eating and will post any good ones I can think of. I like the ideas mentioned on here of eating Clementines so will buy some of them this week.0 -
Good for you missi1, really pleased for you :j:j :j I can remember how light headed I felt the first day or 2 - I felt like I was on something! I think it's the rush of oxygen back to the brain that causes it, and it will soon settle down.
Really pleased for you - keep coming back and letting us know how things are going.
BTW I like the idea of the fruit - last time I dieted I kept a bowl with nice juicy fruit nearby - grapes, orange slices etc - and that definitely helped. But I do need to do some exercising as well

Hi All
Haven't been around for a while, but just want to bring you up to date. Quit 19/12/2009 BUT, a couple of weeks ago I lapsed. I was in a really stressful situation and had one cigarette. I admit I enjoyed it, but within 10 minutes I was SO SICK. I kid you not, I honked for England and it went on and on and on......
I'm glad I lapsed. Now I know I'm fag-free :j- I NEVER want to feel that sick again.
Love to all....

Thanks Pam
Im glad to hear Im not the only one who feels a bit spaced out. Have been thinking about all the extra oxygen going into my body, great feeling and the weather forecast over the next couple of days is wind and rain so I wont need to stand at the doorstep on the evening trying to have a cig!
There is a great snack in the supermarkets called fruit flakes and come in various flavours including strawberry. I had these whilst dieting last year and they're great as low calories and taste a bit like those strawberry laces kids have. Not tried the other favours and only cost about 32p a packet. :-)0 -
