Sorry knocked the keyboard folks. I feel better by far this week . My job is changing I dont know where I will be going as I am part of the local council redevelopment so its an uncertain time, This would normally cause me to feel stressed not anymore I feel quite calm and controlled. I have been using champix and I have found them to be very good. Please be aware though they are not a miracle cure you must use willpower. I stopped on day 8 as I may as well have put a stick in my mouth because you get no buzz after a few days. Life is less stressful when you havent got to dash off outside for a cig. Thanks to Sue I'm drinking water now and sucking the odd sugar free lollly theyre lovely. Going for a short run tomorrow with DS2 whos in training for RAF so doubt I'll keep up with him. Just want to say to everyone keep going and take one day at a time the rewards are worth it.0

You're sounding so very positive in your post adarynefoedd, which is wonderful news! Why not try some of the recommended smoothies and milkshakes to help boost you after that flu, they'll certainly help a lot. Go easy on the coffees but great on the willpower!!! The bag was a great idea for a reward.
Excellent news about the Champix louserendipity! It may just be the best thing for you to quit for good, I sincerely hope so. Some folk find they can easily quit smoking before their due date as they don't feel that cigs have any power over them any longer, fingers crossed for you! No doubt Naomi will help you as she's coped wonderfully well on it.
Welcome to the thread and to MSE snowwhite44uk! You're more than welcome to join as are any other folk who's aim is to quit, come on in and join us! It was so sad to hear of your dad, so young to die from smoking. Sad also to hear your mum has COPD also, so let's hope with your mild asthma (I have exactly the same, caused by smoking too!) you're able to give it all up soon before you get any worse!!! It's such a shame about the increase, but it so often happens - habit again! Try and get a job of any sort ASAP as that will help take your smoking time up. If you've given up once then I'm sure you can do it again, maybe this time you won't need any additional help apart from willpower and perseverance, it's worth a try with nicobrevin being so expensive. Worth giving a try with all the tips you'll have in the PM I'll send off shortly. Coming onto the thread ASAP will help so much too as you already know. I really do wish you ALL the best with your quest to quit - and the other one - to stop getting worsening health problems!!! Good luck Anne!
You're doing really well Mrs Chips!! It does normally get better after the 4 day mark, though your biggest test will be when you don't need to rely on the inhalators as it's only then that you'll be free from the nicotine drug. However, with only using 1 or 2 Cartridges a day you shouldn't find it that hard to quit them - when you're ready! Do try the benefits of water and drink a glassful when you get even a slight craving. Remember clementines or satsumas too as they're great, so too is any fresh fruit as well as celery/carrot sticks. Take the 'pipe' with you when you go out with the girls and don't be swayed by anyone!!!
I have to agree with Naomi and her wise advice of <<<"Maybe it's better to not use it in places you wouldn't normally. I mean you wouldn't have smoked on the bus or in a shop before so don't get into the habit of doing it because you can. You're already used to not smoking in those places.">>> The sooner you cut it out in all such places the better it'll be for you and for all those 'quitters in progress' who may find it hard seeing you do so!!! I hope anyone using them can see what we mean.
Keep up your continuing great work Duke as, all being well, day 5 is very close to a week!!!
Hi JenC and brilliant work on getting to day 7!!! How about asking for your levels to be tested, I'm sure someone would so as they must realise how important it is to all those so new to stopping. Try and keep away from roads and traffic before going as if you don't it'll make the reading much worse than it really is!!!
A wonderful idea with the spin bike Nikz and I was so thrilled to see you hadn't caved!!! !! Don't forget the water, orange and fresh fruit etc though! How far in are you now BTW?
Congratulations to both you and your DH jeaniej!!!! :T:T You're both doing amazingly well and no doubt you're spurring each other on, excellent!!! :j For a minute with your 1st post I thought your PC might be playing up the same as mine is tonight. I've rebooted and ran spybot and antivirus checks, but nothing. If you don't see me tomorrow folks then I may need to use hubby's instead under a different name? If that happens then I'll sign "Sue" below as normal so you'll know.
You're quite right IM-SPECIAL! To coolmax, why not tell us more? I'll send you a PM on to try to help you.
Have a lovely weekend everyone and whatever you do keep smoke-free and let the clean you shine through to all those around you. You all deserve so very much praise as you're each doing brilliantly!!! :T Never falter and keep keeping strong no matter what!!!:D Never forget the water and OJs or oranges of any form. Ice Pops too!

hi all
well i took my 2nd champix last night,no feeling sick but a bit nervous for tomorrow when i have to take 2 of them
i have the mother of all head aches but think that is more to do with having a lie in and the sun streaming through my window !!
i have set a quit date of 1st of feb which will be the last smoking day so 2nd feb is my first no smoking day (have i already said that?)
anyway feeling positive at the mo but that's probably because i have a hacking cough and feel rough !
all the best to you all,you are an inspiration to me .
i've got 2 parties with my 5 kids this weekend , one of which we have to do a 350 mile round trip for ! should be fun
so i'll pop back in here probably monday now
lousmoke free since 01/02/09 :Tthanks to all those who've helped0 -
Hi All,
I am four hours short of completing a whole 7 days :j Yesterday was a good day for me, I had a very important meeting at work so when I got there at 8am I literally hit the ground running so I forgot to take the champix. Normally when the meeting finishes, the first thing I do is rush out for a ciggy and feel relieved it's over for another month but yesterday I didn't feel half as stressed. After my meeting I went to lunch with the girls, we had the Pizza Express 2for1 vouchers. normally I would only be able to do a "nice" lunch on payday so even though it only cost £7 it was lovely and I still have £30 of the £50 I put in my purse on payday (15th). Because of the big lunch I didn't eat dinner and forgot the 2nd champix.:o
So all in all, life is looking better even after a week
My quit meter reads: 6days 20hours 46mins -123 not smoked £30.58 not spent

Well I did it everybody wrote 1/3rd of long report
first ever without the dreaded cigarettes!! Helped by suggestions from you all bowl of grapes smoothie to hand reward later this evening (DH + takeaway + Casualty) its really strange that the things I thought I could not do because of association with cigarettes I actually can do them. Smoking was an appalling so called 'best friend' - even conned me I could not do things without its dreadful 'help' - all addictive myths of course.
The support from you all is invaluable could not do it without you!:T Thanks everybody.0
