I have just taken my first champix!!!................................

Good luck HHH, have you taken it after food? I find it's better to take just after my breakfast and after my evening meal.

Well done Moonrose for not giving in, remember, once you have experienced something without a cigarette you will have dealt with that particular craving and as Mudgekin says
just think you will have more free cash than if you were smoking

I hope everyone else is having a good day.

According to a few of the people at my no smoking group the Champix are very good. They said that they did have craving for the first week but when they tried a sneaky fag it made them feel really sick & they lost any urges to smoke

Day 4 for me & I'm going to give you all a big toothy grin :D I was having 5 of the cartridges for my inhaler, but the bloke at my group advised me to up my dose as I can have between 6-12. Any angry feelings has me sucking furiously on my pipe, as I call it - it works.
  • So far so good for me and I am actually really proud of myself, I haven't smoked now for 1 week 2 days 15 hours. Hoorah! I totally agree that if you stick with it after about day 4 everything gets so much better. I have been very grumpy though, the pinnacle of that was last night when my OH irritate me so much and it wasn't his fault at all. Feeling a lot better today though. Good luck everyone and if at first you don't succeed try and try again xxxx

Hi Aeshna and welcome to the thread. I really do hope you can quit on your 'hoped for' date. You're right about water it really is good, washing the clothing too ...wash all that dirty smelly smoke out of your life and let the new (old too) you come out shining and smelling beautifully! You'll soon notice how lovely you smell and how bad  smokers do!!! We'll certainly help you as much as we possibly can and you can shout, scream, rant or rave as much as you like on here IF you need to. Whatever helps - do it, even if it sounds crazy if it works it isn't!! You've got the PM now so read through it and take note of all that strikes you as helpful and put the list of reasons somewhere visible to keep you reminded. Save up the money you would have spent on them, you'll feel amazing as you watch it grow! :jRe the family and friends: For now why not tell them that you're thinking hard about it, but don't actually commit yourself. One of our really successful girls was "Feedumall" and she didn't tell anyone until she'd quit for a month, that was around May last year and she's done brilliantly and still comes here now and again to update us, just as you could soon be! Still time for you to think about it all so unwind and relax as you go forward to great health, wealth too!!!:D

    Sue

Thank you for such a wonderfully positive welcome Sue, and for the pm, which I KNOW will be treasured to get me through the hard times that will no doubt come. I feel so much better already! Ask me again when I've quit though!

Well done to everyone for hanging on in there!

    hi Louserendipity,

Try not to think about it. I didn't feel sick at all and you may not too. They are just "one" of the "possible" side effects but I think if you dwell on it you could start feeling quesy because it's in your mind. Do I make sense?

Personally the champix have worked wonders for me. Yes I get the odd craving but it's no way near what it would be cold turkey and as someone a few pages back said.. it's a way to tap into your willpower. I often forget to take one and it's not had an adverse effect on me.

Best of luck Louserendipity and Naomi, I really hope the tablets work for you. I don't think I could have stopped without them, having failed before.

I'm still getting the naughty voices getting really fed up with it because I don't want to actually light a ciggie and there are plenty in the house as my kids and their respective girl/boyfriends all smoke (in the conservatory). I've never been tempted so why does my brain keep nudging me?

Sue - you are wonderful with your positive posts. I know how much I appreciate it when you give me a one of your virtual pats on the back and I'm sure it is the same for the other posters on here. Thank you x.

    Good luck everyone x

What a great attitude to hit back at the beginnings of a bad day MoonRose77!!! :TVery well tackled from days gone by!!! I hope the finances soon get sorted out and things won't be so hectic.

You're away now then HHH, no looking back from now on, just keep looking forward and thinking in the same way! There's a whole new life ahead of you!:D

Someone else with a great attitude mudgekin with your <<<"Only lasted a few mins and I just growled at myself that if it was a contest between me and the nicotine monster, then I was going to win every time. ">>> I giggled at that bit and thought she's winning for sure!!!! I love to see folk determined to look for the best in the bad.:j

Hi Naomi, without actually saying so you sound as though you're doing really well from all the great advice you're able to give already, keep it up, keep strong!!!

Well done on day 4 DUKE!! :T Use more than the 5 IF you need them, if you don't then it's not worth it as you have to come down sooner or later anyway. Take care with them is all I mean as you're still getting the nicotine ...the drug! The more puffs the more nicotine.

You sound so elated Tigerlilley, it's so wonderful to 'hear' the pleasure at your success already, brilliant!!! :TThe feelings towards your poor OH are completely natural, just assure him of it and ask for his support and love and I'll bet you have it in abundance.:)

Hi again louserendipity!!! So good to see you back and having finally taken the plunge and not affected so far. I do agree with Naomi though as all too often we can bring things such as queasiness on purely from the worry of it. Put the money saved (even if it's only a few coins) in a glass jar and IF you should happen to feel queasy at all focus hard on them as well as on your health and all the benefits that the money and health will bring. Drink plenty of water to help you too. Just for the record, I absolutely detest being ill, though I've never heard of any one different!

You're so welcome Aeshna. I just so want you to get the chance for the success you deserve ...and don't worry ...I shall be asking you again after you've quit!!! Let yourself look forward to it and to feel the excitement of the new start.:j

Another super day to look ahead to everyone, another day closer to quitting for LIFE!! Looks as though it's to be a nice day so get some brisk walking in if you're able and reap the benefits of the released endorphins and lost calories!:D

Thanks joop, much appreciated and I'm so pleased they have such an affect. With regard to the paragraph above, just keep on ignoring them as they will tempt you now and again then you'll reach a point where you could easily pick a packet up and move it without it affecting you at all. A friend of ours left hers and the lighter in the garden soon after I quit and ......ooh I could have so easily been tempted to have picked them up and run off with them! That was the last time I was affected like it. Why not ask your youngsters and gfs/bfs to be helpful to you and not leave them around. Good luck joop and when next tempted ....get an image of an evil looking battleaxe behind you ready to whack your hand - should you dare to!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
