STRUGGLING STRUGGLING STRUGGLING STRUGGLING
Not with desperately wanting an actual cigarette - I kind of have an 'emptyness' in me (can't really describe it)
Have been eating (and drinking herbal tea/water) like mad............not like me at all. Just can't seem to fill that void.
Sorry.........just needed to get that off my chest - it does help to post on here (thread seems a bit quiet tho'!)Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Great to see you back jammy dodger, though I really don't blame you for not wanting to be online too much in the good weather, better to get on out and enjoy it all. I'm chuffed to bits that you're still staying quit, brilliant news JD, it really looks like you've got your life back again!!! :T:T:T You're right with your last paragraph, it is definitely the best gift anyone can give themselves!
All the best for your eldest and Uni, not nice to begin with for we parents, but if she/he's anything like ours they really enjoy it all, we then get a little more used to missing them.....a bit like fags don't you think!
Hi dundeedoll, and well done for sticking with it even though you're having problems. If you still have my PM, re-read the part about the 'grieving' process, it sounds to me that it's those sort of feelings that you're experiencing. If I'm right then stick with it but understand why your head's reacting like it is. Fags were a huge part of our lives, a 'friend' or so we thought, and they were there to help us through things right? Wrong! They just helped us to get more stressed up and in need of the next one!:( You'll soon get passed this DD and you'll find that times like this happen much less and are very fleeting, passing off far sooner until you don't get them at all. I think you're eating is all tied up with the same thing, compensating for what you're lacking. Stay strong DD, you're not really lacking in anything at all, you're getting through it all little by little. Then one day you realise that rather than having lacked anything you've gained so much and will feel as though you can conquer the world! That's what quitting does....it gives us back so much, our lives included. Keep up sipping water, and drinking the herbal tea, especially green tea and do eat a good deal of fruit, far more filling than the food, it hits the spot where the 'loss' is too. You CAN do it DD, keep strong and keep yourself reminded of all the reasons you're quitting.....they're far more important in you life than fags!!!
Wonderful news elfen! Never give up quitting! Don't forget the sipping of water, eating fruit and EXERCISE!!! The latter helps so much and releases the endorphins in the brain whiah all makes quitting so much easier. We're all with you so keep talking to us, especially if things are a little difficult. Keeping up the stopping IS the way to quit though so well done you for getting to it again! All best wishes elfen!
Hiya Jo! I've seen you around on here and it's so good to see the the person who started off this and the first quitting thread. Thanks Jo, you've brought so many folk so much pleasure in achieving something they thought they wouldn't be able to. Well done! :T:T:T:T
I hope those of you who aren't on here at the moment are enjoying the summer and still keeping free from smoking. Anyone having problems, keep on trying PLEASE as this is possible and you too will be so proud when you've found the way through it.

I need to stop smoking. Unfortunately I can't use any nicotine replacement as I have an overactive thyroid. All my attempts before have been instigated by my OH (who also smokes), but its the first day of the new school year tomorrow and I'm going to give it a go.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

Hello wornoutmumoftwo and welcome to the world of trying your very, very best to quit those evil fags. I understand your thyroid problems as mine is with underactive and is a right pain at times.
I hope you've found the PM I've sent, it has some helpful bits and pieces to help you see it all through. ALL of us here will be urging you on and wishing you the very best to do what you've probably wanted to do for so long. Most of us get on alright after the initial first few days, some finding it far easier than they'd ever thought possible; I do hope that's how it is for you. You've tried it before and are still persevering which is marvellous, let's hope THIS is the time you do it for good! On this thread we talk to each other, telling the others exactly how we feel, how our day has been, good or bad. Then seeing the replies of others, how they're all coping and what gives them the strength to continue, as well as any tips they've found that are useful.
If there's anything that crosses your mind which just might give you a buzz and help you through it more easily..try it out! Just never, ever be tempted to have "just one puff or just one fag" as it never works! One of our very successful members attributed her success to eating/sucking Ice Poles..and it's worked for others too!
If you're a little anxious for now then why not read through some of this thread as well as the other one, you'll no doubt find some very helpful posts here. You'll also find many posts from excited members at their joy of having quit!!Stick with us womumoftwo as we'd all love to help you to your goal of having QUIT smoking for good.
If you have any hangup times that have stopped you from succeeding in the past, let them go and move on...to a new beginning!

Morning all! Yes the thread is very quiet.
Sorry you are struggling DD - just keep at it though as it will come right in the end. Just so long as you keep on the road to your destination that is the main thing. Sometimes you stop and falter, but you get up and keep going. Isn't this true of so much in life?
Even if you fall like you Elfen, it is not the end of the world. Just keep on trying that is the main thing. Every day you can get a little further towards your goal.

Just thinking about Donnaessex and wondering how she is?
Was just reading my posts from June and saw this one from Larmy. Shame, shame, shame.:o:o I gave up for 12 days then me and my husband broke the pact. He said "I really fancy a fag tonight", I said "I do too", he said "shall we just get 10?", I said "g'wan then".
The rest, as they say is history.
I felt sooooo much better after about 4 days of not smoking - I could take a really deep breath, I could walk into my bosses office not stinking, I didnt rush out into the back garden just before taking my children to bed...
So today is day one once again. I am so fed up of stopping smoking. I just want to stop and stay stopped. Cravings are killing me at the moment and I am so near to tears at my desk at work. Grrrrrrrr to the fags. I hate them.
I hate having to make sure I've got enough fags for the day.
I hate having to shove a packet in my (already) overstuffed bag.
I hate going into the shops with two toddlers asking for 20 cigs.
I hate not wanting to talk to people because my breath stinks of smoke.
I hate that I spend £25 a week on something I set fire to.
I hate getting up 10 minutes earlier so that I can have a cigarette before the kids wake up.
I hate that I have to sit in the garden in the snow and rain.
I hate that I cant sit still after eating a meal.
I hate getting stressed in the morning just because I havent had my tea and fag yet.
There are loads more but thats just to start. :mad:Trying to become debt free but this site makes me spend a fortune!!!

That is some hefty list of againsts Donna - Hello by the way and great to see you back!
There is only one positive and that is a brief relief of the craving and then it is back to self loathing again.
You can do it Donna, I just know you can. Rooting for you to get over this hump and on the road to freedom.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Hi Donna, I'm so pleased you've returned to the fold to try again, that itself is great, so IF by chance you're not quite able to do it this time - then keep coming back as we won't give up on you, just as you're not giving up on yourself!!
You have a long list of positive loathings above, keep that list for as long as you need it, then at any weak moments read it and re-read it and focus on all that you HATE about the fags. You soon noticed the good things of having stopped, hang onto them Donna and IF your hubby is doing this with you, you HAVE to stay strong! However, if your hubby does weaken again - you need to be the one who stays firm and refuses to weaken. You remaining like that will soon make him want to re-join you. Focus on your health both of you, you don't need me to remind you how important you are to those kiddies, another great thing to focus on!
Right now though Donna, it's YOU you're doing this for and when you've cracked it you'll be one of the happiest girls and delighted with the gift of LIFE you've given yourself!! Come on Donna, it IS possible and you CAN DO IT but please, talk to us about your feelings, it's a great way to succeed and pull through weak times! I wish you good health, Larmy & I have it, many others from this thread too, and YOU CAN join us just you see if I'm not right!:)
