Oh whathavewedone, that is appalling if it's the bosses themselves who are flouting such an important law, they should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves!!!
Re your sentence of: "I will definitely guard against complacency. I'm not even at the 6 month mark yet."
Use that to empower for you; you'll be more on your guard against complacency because you're heading towards the 6 month mark! Always think positively WHWD, you owe yourself that after all this time. Please come back every so often, it helps others to, to have such great role models!!!
Talking of role models........:D
Very many congratulations indeed SandC and Pam!!! :T:T:T:T You two have done absolutely marvellously and it's so good to see you back yet again to say how much better off you are, and how great you're doing. I'm so delighted for the pair of you, as it's such a great feeling in getting the freedom that quitting gives us. Fantastic news SandC and Pam! Please keep coming back as others really do benefit from seeing others here who have gone through it all.....and survived!!
Anyone watching the thread and thinking about quitting, PLEASE read the above posts and think about what it might feel like to you....to be free from fags and getting back into far better health!

Thanks for that and hi Larmy.
Well on top of that since being a real lazy !!! for a few years I joined a new gym 6 months ago and have now lost weight, got back my fitness bug and am working out like a demon. Blood pressure issues are now a thing of the past (smoking contributed to that just as much as being unfit). The whole lot is intertwined. Now I have had periods of my life where I've exercised a lot but this time I'm older and not being a smoker I'm sure has helped. I also am single and can imagine how much harder it would be to meet someone (when I'm ready) if I still smoked. I used to visit gyms and think no way could I meet anyone here as the minute they find out I smoke they'll run for the hills!0 -

....which is more then you could have done SandC!!!It's amazing how you can turn your life around after fags have gone out of it. I'm sure that's where your new-found energy has come from, lower BP too! Great news SandC, you've done terrificly well.
It's so good to hear from real quitters! Please don't forget to drop in to boost folk on, when you have the time.

Hi everyone,
Really want to take the plunge again and give up smoking... Gave up in July 2007 for 6 months. Had too much to drink one night at a wedding, had a cig and have been smoking again since...
Just bought Alan Carr's audiobook on iphone (my 1st step to quiting, i hope!) - can anyone give me some feedback on this? I know a few people who gave up on it; just looking for some positive reinforcement, I guess!
Thanks!

Hi Ash and a warm welcome to the thread. Well, it sounds as though you were doing really well until that fateful night, still you learned the hard way and I guess you won't let that happen again!
We've had excellent feedback, successes too about all Alan Carr's forms of quitting so i see no reason at all why the audiobook shouldn't be just what you're looking for. There is some recent feedback on one form of AC's successes above or on the previous page by "SandC", have a look, though many folk have been successful with his books or cds too. Having it always with you on iphone is even better as no matter where you are you can always access help and guidance.
I'd say go for it Ash! Meanwhile if you need any other help about your feelings on having quit etc then please come on here and get it off your chest, it really does help.
All very best wishes on quitting and staying quit this time round,

Hiya Ash and welcome.
I quit for 3 years on AC so you see it does work. But like everything, it is down to us. Like you, after 3 years, I went out (in the days when you could smoke in a club) and thought oh just one or two and before you knew it, there I was back smoking.
I had some mini quits since then and now this my last 1 year and 3 months.
What can I say, never let your guard down when it comes to nicotine, though there are some who can say "never again" and mean it.
Good luck. It is a great book. He can sound a bit patronising and arrogant but every word he says is true and God bless him, he paid the price in the end for smoking, so the least we can do is give him the credit for trying to warn us all.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

hi folks
so wonderful to see posts from quitters old and new doing so well
sandc i too am taking the plunge into the realms of the gym hoping to reduce my midriff and gain all the energy releasing benfits of being a none smoker
many years ago i joined a gym was quickly out of breath and even ducked outside mid sesion for a fag  imagine !!!
so hoping for more success this time with nights drawing in it'll keep me out of mischief i am hoping ...
I used to smoke 15 plus a day and had several failed attempts to quit not really wanting to stop on those occasions but feeling i should stop
A "click " moment arrived when, over the last bad winter i really got scunnered with smokin keeping cigarettes dry to the bitter end while i got soaked
i suddenly thought why o why am i doing it finally STOPPED BECOMING A PLEASuRE and i realised how much my life revolved around smoking as others have recently posted they truly are enslaving
so instead of going out for fags i went via chemist on 3 / 1 /2010 i asked about methods to help quit and chose gum but only wanted it as a back up
it was the best purchase i evere made though thinking back i was SO detrmined i had fallen out of love with my fags i would of not needed anything only used a few pieces and have since passed them on to colleagues trying to quit so the have been usefull
This thread has provided so much support when feeling like a part of you is missing and to realise that you havent lost or given up anything quite the reverse
You have to really want to stop aids will help but its down to us if we choose to light up . we have to be on our guard for the "just one puff" demons
my mantra when tempted was...cigaretes are not my friend ...they will not make me feel better
I am so looki ng forward to staying indoors dry and cosy this autumn and winter no more trailing out to the doorstep or garden shed in the snow for me and i hope for many many others too
i wish you all continued success stay strong

Hi everyone just popped in on the off chance and way hay there are lots of familiar quitters just popping in too! Still quit but Ive got to admit when on holiday I was sorely tempted, was with a friend who is a "very occasional smoker" which is something I know I just would not be able to do. 1 fag and I`d be a gonner! She didnt smoke on holiday thank goodness as it would have been torture for me! but we did talk about it and Im afraid the thought of smoking is still appealing to me, when I pass someone smoking in the st I breathe in a little harder
. I hope this passes as Im at 8 months now but its a pain in the "butt" as I thought by now I`d be well rid of any kind of craving! I know these cravings are mental and not physical so they are easier to deal with but I just wish they would go altogether. Words of wisdom anyone?
Smoke free since 16th Dec 2009

Morning everyone!
Well, I started listening to Allen Carr yesterday after work. I listened in the car on the way home, whilst cooking, whilst dog walking and then just before bed. I am now on Chapter 27..! Haven't told anyone else that I want to quit; don't want/need pity from anyone (or dissapointment if I fail...)
Will pop back on tomorrow and let you know how I'm getting on with the 'Easyway'
Hope everyone has a good day!
