Oh other than the old toilet trouble I am nearly at week 4, well technically it's after midnight now so I am on my forth week - YAY! But it's still VERY hard - BOO! Nearly gave into it today as I was feeling REALLY down about everything......BUT didn't and am now teaching myself crochetKeep at it all, I know it is VERY hard but think how rich and wrinkle free we can all be as non smokers! The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.

You're more than welcome oldreekie, I just love hearing of folk having quit and want you ALL to achieve the same. I love the freedom from it all, and especially the good health!
Re Facebook OR, do you have problems after coming away from the site? My PC slows down something rotten so I've almost stopped going there now. I'm so pleased you have Skype.
Welcome back taxi73,it's so good to see you trying again!!! :T Well done on having stopped for 5 days already! One thing at a time though, lets stop the fags first, then concentrate more on the weight. Though having said that - it IS possible to do the two at once and in so doing help yourself a lot more in making the cravings easier. If you get out walking, then, if you're not normally used to doing so, gradually build up to a brisk walk until you're walking really briskly and often! It makes such a difference to how you feel and you'll so quickly find the benefits, honestly! I'll send you a PM about it. Shift your focus to the weight to take it away from the fags and you could well crack the 2 at once. Let this time be THE time taxi, go on, you know you CAN!!!! :j
What was that you were saying to Jojo about too much information bluebellbunny?! Who counts rabbit currants for goodness sake! Ah, you always get one though!
It's fairly common to get constipated after you stop, that's why we need to literally take steps to combat it. How much exercise are you getting Jojo and bluebellbunny? Not enough from the sounds of it.Get on out and have a really good and brisk walk as often as you possibly can and you'll both be feeling a heck of a lot more comfortable, getting slimmer too Jojo!! Another good thing for it is water, add to that apples and plenty of veg, dried apricots too - but please girls do get the walking in as it helps you so very much, it also helps with the cleansing through process from all that the smoking's left behind and in general will make you both feel so much better mentally. Also BBB, slow down on the coffee and you'll find the quitting much easier; coffee stirs up the fag thoughts, the 2 are far too closely related. Try tea instead.
Congratulations on passing the 4 week mark bluebellbunny, that all came about from sheer hard work, keep it up! Well done with learning the crochet, that's just the sort of thing I rattle on about ....keeping yourselves focused on something that needs all your thoughts, excellent bluebellbunny, you really are doing so very well!!! :T PLEASE don't even think about giving it all up now, you'll really hate yourself if you do! Stay strong and at times like that imagine us ALL looking at you and daring you to even think about it!!!!:mad::mad:
Try laying off the chocolate girls, giving up the fags soon makes you feel so good, but if you're going to be putting on weight at a rate of knots you won't!!! Try finding things that won't add to your weight, ice poles and FRUIT!!!!!!
Keep focused hard on the wonderful thing in life everyone, it really does help. As always, I really do wish you well with every single step you take. Stay strong and keep up this amazing journey you've undertaken!

Trying to eat all the right things & get some exercise but not really working.
Like you Bluebellbunny cup of coffee & a fag used to sort me out no problem !!
Hope you all had a lovely easter !!0 -
:TWell another weekend out of the way, another night out smoke free. I did get a few cravings and had three minis whilst I was out.. but rather those than ciggies.
I have my sugar free polos now, and have noticed a cut down on the minis. I thought i was having some of them out of bordom!
A friend of mine is quitting. He is on day 4 today, im texting him and him me.. he is glad of the support.. im glad he is quitting. If he manages to quit i will only have four friends who still smoke!:T
I too have found toilet trouble the downside of quitting, i used to be a very regular morning person.. now there is no telling!! Although to add i suffered from very bad IBS in a morning, stopping smoking has really eased my symptoms!
I have put on weight:( about 6lb, I am trying to cut down on the rubbish I eat but easter has not helped! I will diet once I have truly kicked the habbit and the niquitin.0 -
Well done everyone.
Day 6 for me and so far so good.
I am at WWs so this is keeping my weight in check...I am so determined to be smoke free and weight free...I do try and exercise but am absolutely streaming with a cold at the moment.
Sue UU..thanks for the pms all very useful info.0 -
Why can't I do this.
My budget says I can't smoke, simple as. More importantly my head and heart say stop.
I smoke 10 a day, in 24 hours I don't smoke for a total of 9 - 10 hours over night and 5 - 6 hours at work. No problem.
Today I bought a packet of tobacco, because £3.22 a day for 10 cigarettes is more than we spend on food some days. It's just so wrong of me to get my priorities so wrong. I know all the health reasons.
Once the children have gone to school my half hour of peace is totally focussed on having aquiet five minute smoke before the bedlam of work. And it's the same when I come home, a quiet 5 minutes before the onslaught of the fridge raid and cupboard foraging !
See that's all focussed on why I can't stop....need to to get into my head why I can !
I love Allen Carr but it just doesn't work 2nd/3rd/4th time. Can't do patches, skin irrititation, niquitin minis failed, electronic cigarette failed.
I hate it. I know it's all in the mind so I'm tempted to go for professional hypno therapy. Tried the Paul McKenna effort and Glenn Harold and couldn't 'let go'.
I think you all are amazing to get through the first hour..I just want to get the other side of this.
There rant overThanks for reading.
DC.

Good to see you fliss and excellent news at nearly 3 weeks free! :T You're doing so well, keep at it! "Trying to eat all the right things & get some exercise but not really working." Go on fliss, push yourself a little harder each day and you'll really feel the benefits, veg and fruit for the healthier eating too mind!!;)
Hubby, I and the youngsters had a wonderful Easter thanks fliss, I hope you did too.
Hi nervousmother and very well done on your success so far, 26 days is great!!! :T I'll bet your chest is so much better and I;m so pleased for you! Try to do the weight at the same time, you'd feel much better if you gave it a try, and at least you'll stop yourself from putting more on! All best wishes to your friend for stopping! Texting each other is a wonderful idea as it's a little incentive on a regular basis, worth the world! Well done in helping him!
Well done on another day chalked up taxi73! Whilst the cold is streaming don't worry about too much exercise, but as soon as it dries up a bit............head for the hills!!!!All the very best with your fag-free and overweight-free life taxi and let that determination pull you to that winning line!!:)
Hi there DC, lovely to see you back again! I've got to hand it to you, you may struggle with it all, but you never give up trying to stop, there's a lot to be said for that so don't be too down on yourself. Try doing something totally different at the time after the kiddies go to school and when you get back from work. A brief few exercises without the hot drink you're used to. Go upstairs and clean your teeth (again maybe) and make the beds, or tidy round - anything to take up that time and to distract you If you can cut those two out it all helps decrease them so it's less to miss when you DO stop!! Meanwhile, why not act on your thoughts and invest your money on hypnosis, it worked for larmy, remember?! OK, so you need to focus on reasons why you CAN stop, take a few days to write down every single reason why you need to stop, then put them up somewhere so they're always there to remind you. How many do you smoke a day DC? Now, how many do you (for now) need to get by on? Every time you reach for one, question "do I really need it?" If you answer "No" then put that fag somewhere (mantlepiece, empty fag packet) so you can then tot up all the 'successful' ones you've not smoked at the end of each day. Bring it down bit by bit so you have less to be quitting when the 'time' hits you. You could do it DC, you know it's possible from all the successes we've had here - it CAN be you! Give the hypnosis your best shot and go for it DC!!!
Well done everone, well not you just yet DC, but that'll come!;) Keep living a healthy and smoke-free life everyone, every hour, day, week and month passed is amazing and such an accomplishment, be so proud of all you've done!

Yes Sue, all so negative about what I can't do. I should be starting at the top of the mountain not the bottom. Added to that it's like I'm making excuses for certain processes not working. It's down to me, not a book/CD/patch.
I won't stop stopping, because I know the energised yet relaxed me that doesn't smoke and it's a much nicer place to be.
Thank you for keeping at 'me'DC.

I agree with the first sentence quoted above DC, I can't NOT do after all this time now can I!!!It's not always the wannabe quitter alone that's the answer to being able to quit though, sometimes we need a helping hand, such as the books, CDs, patches - or hypnosis, it's these things that make the difference between finishing the habit or not. In truth before we quit we all think we enjoy the fags, but once we stop we soon see that "aha, I don't after all!" Re your last sentence, that's ok until your health starts to become affected DC, please don't wait til then!!
.....no, I'll never give up on you! Aside from that, you wouldn't have come back yesterday if quitting the blessed things hadn't been high on your mind now would you!!!I'll get you reformed one of these days DC, my determination's stronger than yours ....for now at least!!!

I'm sure you'll manage DC as you keep coming back to it so you obviously want to stop.0
