    How's it going, bluebellbunny?

Good luck to all the new folk - it is wonderful to see you joining the "cause". Someone mentioned "freedom" and it is true; I am so happy to be free and so want this to work.
Thank you so much oldreekie for remembering me! I've been having a VERY hard time of it, on day 5 now, have been very depressed, only been out of the house once and not answering the phone or wanting to talk to anyone - haven't even been on here to say hi  I know it won't be like this forever though, well fingers crossed anyway! ;) Still smoke free and pretty determined to stay that way - most of the time anyway - saying that if I found a hidey pack of cigarettes somewhere I don't know what I'd do! On the positive though I have kind of lost my appetite (other than chocolate of course!) so hopefully this not smoking will not make me put on a ton of weight this time!
Well done to all of you who are staying smoke free, I definately know how hard it is SO KEEP YOUR CHINS UP AND STICK WITH IT! :)

Hi everyone. Well, went to the pharmacy today for my check in, blew into the machine and it was ....... 2 ! What a relief. There has to be something wrong with machine for it to have been so high last week or maybe it is my technique!

I sympathise with you, haloona, on the weight issue. I am not eating any more than I did when smoking and yet, my middle is expanding, jeans are uncomfortable and I feel like a balloon. Not happy about this at all. I have always been on the skinny side and do not want to put on weight. Due to disability, I can't exercise so am not too sure what to do.

    Hi folks

I've been smoke free for three calendar months!! The only "support" I need right now is an occasional puff on the inhalator. Chuffed as nuts, I am. Wishing all of you good luck......you CAN do it.

Hi bluebellbunny! You are on patches and inhalator - yes? Well done, you are doing fine but do not let the depression set in ~ see your GP? Shop? Facial? Celebrate with a friend? At the beginning, I lived in a little bubble .... did not talk about what I was doing, except on this board, and it took my OH a week to realise that I had stopped! This board has been a life saver and I urge you to come and chat away every day, all day even if there is no response ~ someone will be along to cheer you up.

When I attempted to stop last summer ~ 9 weeks cold turkey ~ I became extremely depressed to the point that my OH went out and bought me a packet of 10 and pleaded with me to have one. It took me months and a course of 5-htp to pluck up the courage to stop again using patches and inhalator. Now, I am taking valarian tablets (Quiet Life) 2xday and find they are helping with the stress.

Have you joined the online ActiveStop programme? Positive thinking; CBT for reformed smokers!!! Fantastic programme and it is great to log on in the morning to find an email from someone telling you how fantastic you are.

Hi all, hope your all doing well, just dropped in for first time in a while now.

Still going at the moment and in less then 30 minutes time will have been a full 18 weeks. :)

Intend to be in here a bit more in the future to try and help the newcomers out (I did say this last time I posted however things got a bit hectic).

The savings have paid off as I bought myself a new car (well new to me at least) with the money saved so far. Is strange actually as having spent the cash I have been thinking "oh god I'll never get through the month now" but I am managing as I had forgotten the money I have left doesn't need to include money spent on fags.

Think I have cracked it properly and for ever this time, Dad had a heart attack on Tuesday and despite all the  around it I haven't had a single one. Probably helped by the fact that when your sitting in the hospital you can't help thinking the fags helped put him there.

Anyway, all the best folks. Good luck and keep it up :T

Not feeling too bad at the moment not had a ciggie for 5 hours might go to bed early though just to make the eve go quicker
  • Good Luck tired Mum. My only piece of advise it to read as much info on quiting smoking. https://www.whyquit.com I think thats the one, has loads of info.

Its 2 whole months for me today. I have saved over £250 into my savings account. Thats what keeps me going transfering my smoking money into my savings every friday. Booked a holiday to Gran Caneria and by september i should have £800 spending money.

Oh tired mum really feel for you - mine was for money reasons too, fortunately I only had myself to feed though. If you think you can do it cold turkey then well done and good on you! I couldn't manage that myself but the Drs are very helpful and will prescribe NRT for you and if you can't get an appointment lots of pharmacies will do the same for you after a short consultation. If you're struggling the people on here can be really great. Best of luck to you!
