I am on champix and I have really struggled am 4 1/2 weeks in now and I promise you it does get easier. The constant voices in your head quieten down and you realise you can do this. :j
I am putting weight on though I am trying not to eat a lot extra, using fruit and sugar free gum but rather a couple of stone than emphysema? Spring is here now so we can start eating salads and getting out for walks more so we can deal with the weight that way.
OOOOPS !!
Sorry about the size of my post.....should've known as I am no spring chicken myself & would be lost without my glasses & my magnifying mirror!
As for the weight thing.....yes you are right ......quitting is more important than putting a few pounds on.
Well done on reaching 4 1/2 weeks....that's brilliant !!0 -
Hi everyone not been on for a while as PC died! So glad to see the thread is just as strong as ever with support for everyone in the early stages when its really needed!
Really wanted to come on on the 16th of march to shout out " 3 MONTHS 2 DAY " but as I said pc on the blink! been out loads now and it really is great to not b thinking all the time about when I can get away from kids or OH to sneak off for a fag, or being crabbit with them coz I needed one! Was out on Sat night with friends and not one single person at the table smoked and I think at least 75% of them used to, the times are a changing !!
Good luck to all the recent quitters. I promise you u can do it (even if u had a blip, I had one a week into quitting) just keep coming on here for support! "because your worth it"! X
Smoke free since 16th Dec 2009

Very well done on 6 says so far Fliss!!! :T Brilliant news. Whenever you have stressful times as you did with the car problem, as yourself if having "just one" really would help with the car. Obviously the answer has to be NO, but sometimes we need to ask the question to help us digest such thoughts. It IS possible to get through anything without one ...and PLEASE don't ever succumb to the "I could have just one puff" part, because truth is you CAN'T, not unless you risk going right back to the smoking world! Well done Fliss, you're doing just wonderfully.
..oooh that's much better Fliss! Thank goodness you spoke up ameliarate! I didn't say anything the first time you came on as I wondered if you had anything really wrong with your eye sight. Anyway, all's well now and I don't need to get blisters on my nose by needing to get so close t the monitor to read it.
......oh dear ameliarate, that was such a real shame, but - so long as it was only the one you should do as you have done and push ahead treating it as a blip. You've done well in thinking of it all as you have though, but if ever you have a row with your OH in future .....how about venting your frustrations by winging something at him!!!!Push on amelia, you're getting there!! :T You're quite right about it being "rather a couple of stone in weight gain than emphysema" (or worse!), but drink plenty of water and try to scrape some carrots, prepare celery and put it in the fridge to grab a nibble on when you need something. Keep apples in or any other fruit and munch on them ....and whatever you do - leave plenty of time in every day for exercise, those are the key to not gaining too much weight.
Hi Fee, I see you're one of the good ones and put the method used to stop, but how about putting the amount of time you've succeeded for before the "2 wks patches then cold turkey!" bit; in other words "3 MONTHS 2 DAY" using "2 wks patches then cold turkey!"
Any way, very many congratulations on such a great amount of time, Fee, you're doing SO very well!! :T It's marvellous to see the amount of quitter numbers coming down by so many ...see the influence you're all having on the masses!!!
Excellent news girls, keep going strong and pat yourself on the back for each day passed successfully. Don't forget to reward yourselves ....other than with choccy! Save up for a perfume or a lovely dress or similar, you deserve to!

I cant believe it'll be 3months soon :j when i think back to the early days of quitting i counted how many hrs since last smoke then i counted days
after 2 weeks i counted in weeks would never of thought i would continue to feel soooooooooo strong and here i am counting months .
i have gotten past my personnal hurdle of 7 weeks thats when i startde again last time . its grand to see the days getting longer and warmer . can enjoy the fresh air and not have to stop my gardening hobbies for fag breaks
Finally got rid of the snow and cleared away those nasty tabbies left by the door step ...YUK what a discusting slushy mess evn more determined to stay off them .
i was out at a concert with a friend of mine when leaving the theatre the air was thick with smoke evryone lighting up at same time . the smell i am glad to say repelled me . i do hope i continue with this possitive frame of mind .
To all those newly on the road of freedom believe me it does get easier and easier i barely think about them i never feel like am missing anything just gaining so so much
stay strong everyone in my thoughts x x0 -

Oh very well done indeed jammy dodger!!! :T I'm so thrilled for you that you've well passed that 7 week hurdle, though to be honest it really doesn't surprise me as you seemed hell-bent on getting to your goal (the ultimate one) from the word go. Keep strong jammy and keep free!!! Keep in mind that awful scene and smell and think how fantastic you've done, so much achieved already!! :j
Stay true to yourselves everyone as it's the very best thing you'll ever do for yourselves and for you families. All the very best.

5 weeks and one day actually. It is definitely getting easier and easier. I barely think about smoking now, expect very fleetingly.
It makes me think I wish I had done it sooner but I think there is a right and wrong time to do it, same as I think it was necessary for me to have my little blip.
Wish I wasn't addicted to chewing gum thoughWe don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0 -
As it says on the tin, yesterday was my 9 months Cold turkey anniversary
