Captainspam, quite effective that, isn't it? I found myself watching the fag 'burning down' and tried to imagine having a drag of that acrid smoke now after two months. Even thinking about it makes me feel a bit sick and dizzy!
Oldreekie, I love being non-smelly, my teeth are losing their yellowish tinge and my skin is definitely looking a lot healthier.........very definite positives, but I agree with you - I don't think weight is easy to shift.
Bought a load of fruit today and will try to replace sweeties with that. And water. I have to force myself to drink it, but it is filling and could be why my skin looks better too.
Mind you, I am - as we speak - tucking into a glass of red wine
    Oh b^**"r it, it's the weekend :D Have a good one, y'all.

Hi and welcome Bluebell, it WON'T be like this forever, everyday these feelings will become further apart and not so strong. You have done fantastically well, please don't waste all the hard work you've put in :)
Thanks so much jo1972 and I know you are right :T I feel better today than I did a couple of days ago and I am sure in a day or so I will feel even better than this :)

Had a little thought at 6 this morning still trying to get to sleep (patches really messing with me but really need 24hr ones) that our bodies are SOOO amazing and we do such terrible things to them but generally they come back fighting! I have had far too many VERY severe injuries in my life, some to the point where my donor card has been taken out of my purse and nearest and dearest told that I probably wasn't going to make it BUT I've made it out the other side and now I think that since my body (and the Drs of course!) have been SOOO brilliant it's about time that I started looking after it properly and at the VERY LEAST NOT fill it full of nicotine anymore!
Maybe you're thinking that I need a little more sleep  and you're right I do! BUT I think this thought may REALLY help me get through this, I DO think it's about time that I started treating my body the way it deserves!
Ok, end of rant, just wanted to share a little of my sleep deprived madness :rotfl:
Have a GREAT weekend all and keep at it, we'll get there in the end! :p

Hi Fliss and a very warm welcome to the beginning of life as it used to be long, long ago. Four days achieved so far is success already and you should be really proud of it! Yes, we know it's hard for you right now, but you're never alone in your struggle! Keep staying strong, drinking plenty of water, getting lots of exercise and, by taking one day at a time, you'll get there. I'm sending you a PM to help a little more, but if you keep coming on the thread and letting us know about your ups and downs you'll find there's a LOT of help, advice and support given out by the very people who are where you are now, and like as not, you'll probably be doing the same very soon! All best wishes from us ALL.

Hiya Jo! It's been a while what with one thing and another, but from one 'oldie' to another, it's great to see you. I'm hoping the PC problems will get better, but after all that's been wrong with it lately, I'm not banking on it! :( I hope things aren't too bad for you, but if they have been, that they'll be soon be on the up!

Urrgghh Captain Spam that is absolutely gross to watch, but it's a good gross for sure! ;) It really makes you stop and think that's for sure.

Oh netskii I do hope your plans for your hubby can come to fruition, for both your sakes, but especially for his. As you rightly say though, it has to come from him first, but if it does then most chaps seem to get through it all far easier than we do! Here's hoping it'll happen! ;)

Very informative bits about the slowing of the metabolism in 'life after quitting' haloona and old reekie. Now I know why I whacked it on after quitting as I also have thyroid problems. Still, I'd far sooner have a few extra ponds as a result of having quit, rather than skinny and still puffing, coughing and all that goes with the evil deed! :j

Our early morning thoughts often turn out to be the saving grace for many of us, bluebellbunny 'wake-up calls' in more than one way, a bit of the subconscious coming through I'm sure. Keep your particular thoughts in mind, they have to be beneficial, surely! It certainly sounds as though you've had some close encounters, all the best of good health to you from here on! BTW. I see you've not been out due to the craving, but I'm positive you'd soon start to feel so much better in every way if you at least went out for a short walk each day. If that's not possible then do some exercise at home, anything to make you feel so very much better - and I promise you would.

Have a great Sunday all, then chalk it up as another smoke-free day! :p

Hello again, hope you are all ok & doing really well.
I can't quite believe I have managed to get to day 6, I am so pleased with myself.

Mind you, I nearly had a major blip on Saturday.
My car broke down and I felt sooo stressed,my first thought was that I needed a ciggie & maybe I could have just one:eek: BUT I managed to talk myself out of it & I'm so glad I did now :j !!
It was the first time I'd been out in the car since quitting on Tuesday and I realised that I can actually drive without having a cigarette.....I won't drive into a wall or something if I don't have one !!

I'm not at work today so I am going to try & keep super busy to keep my mind off the cigs.

    Sue.......thankyou for the PM.
I read it in the early hours of Sunday morning as I couldn't sleep and went back to bed thinking "I CAN do this ".
Lots of useful tips in there which I will trying out.

PS: I've also realised apart from saving money on cigs I will also save a small fortune on air fresheners, perfume, body sprays & extra strong mints !!

The bad news is I have had a "blip" - if you make me go back to day 1 I am leaving!!!! :D. Had a row with OH. Had I been at home I don't think I would have done it but because I was out - giving him a lift somewhere - I went to the shop.

The good news is I didn't enjoy it, realised it was not helping in the slightest and broke the rest of the packet up and put it in the bin. What a waste of £3!!!

I kind of think it probably had to happen because I have had such a difficult quit and in a way I am glad it did because I really know now that I am doing the right thing by stopping whereas I think I had a sneaky suspicion before that I was missing something.

    So onwards and upwards.

    Hello everybody.......can I join you too ??
I've not had a cigarette now since Tuesday evening ........so on my 4th day now.
I had been smoking for around 35 yrs & just lately I was getting through at least 30 a day.......sometimes more .I am so sick of the way smoking has controlled my life for so long.....to the point where I won't do things/go places 'cos I can't have a fag......how sad is that ?
I have tried so many times before to pack it in but never lasted more than a few hours.I am chuffed to bits that I've done 4 days....can't believe it really:)
I'm on Champix which I find helps with the cravings, but I am still finding it hard, for such a long time just about everything I did was punctuated with a fag and I just feel a bit odd & strange & can't stop thinking about them.......I'm hoping this will get easier as the days go by (please someone tell me it will).
Like some of you I am dreading that I might put loads of weight on.....I managed to lose nearly a stone this time last year & really don't want to put it all back on again.
I've not had chance to read the whole thread yet but will when I have chance.
    Good luck everyone !!

PLEASE make your posts bigger - some of us are getting on a bit:eek:

I am on champix and I have really struggled am 4 1/2 weeks in now and I promise you it does get easier. The constant voices in your head quieten down and you realise you can do this. :j

I am putting weight on though I am trying not to eat a lot extra, using fruit and sugar free gum but rather a couple of stone than emphysema? Spring is here now so we can start eating salads and getting out for walks more so we can deal with the weight that way.
