I preferred this:Don't let her get you down, has probably never smoked a cigarette in her life and if she did is was Menthol

Well done everyone!
I really want to give up smoking, not because I don't deeply enjoy it (i'd be lying if I said I didnt!) but because I'm trying to get my finances in order and really like the idea of £2k tax free
I've heard about these tablets that you take and they make you feel sick if you have a cigarette- does anyone know what these are called and if there are any restrictions on getting them on the NHS?
Thank you

You can take Champix, which has a side effect of nausea for some people. I don't know of a tablet that makes you sick if you smoke. You have to go to a smoking cessation clinic to get Champix. We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0 -
I did it :j . I honestly didn't think I could and there were times when I nearly didn't. I even cried myself to sleep one night the cravings were so bad but I did it. As of last night at 9pm I completed four weeks, one lunar month, without a cigarette, having been a smoker for 30 odd years on 20 a day.
I am so effing chuffed with myself that I think I deserve a :T
Might go and buy a cigar to celebrateWe don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0 -
How wonderful, ameliarate :j. I have watched how you have dealt with this and yes it is tough but there are also these wonderful moments of celebration. Treat yourself - hairdresser? facial?.
In the past week I have been out to lunch, been shopping and spent ages over a cup of coffee with my DD in a wonderful restaurant. I celebrated the fact that in the past I would have been plotting my next cigarette rather than enjoying the moment......and we did not have to sit outside in the wind & the rain
Clap clap clap - sorry, moticons not available in edit!I am a non-smoker :j last cigarette 10th February 20100 -

Well done Ameliarate on your 1 month of being smoke free you definately deserve a treat.
I am on day 13 today and feeling very pleased with myself so far, not many bad cravings I have the odd few a day but shoo them away.
Keep up the hard work everyone

:j:j:j Way to go, Amelierate. We're of an age - and similar smoking history, methinks - so I know just how much that month means to you  I hit two calendar months on the 17th and I still can't quite believe it
My waistline and skin tight jeans can, though  I've been muching away - anything to stop me from resorting to the evil weed, but it is definitely time to replace the choccies etc for less calorie laden snacks. I've put on a stone
I'm only 5ft, so that's loads. Oh why won't it go north, rather than South? I'd be more Pamela Anderson and less Weeble............sigh!0
