I have 5 cigarettes left to smoke before I can go to bed and then thats it! I dont know if its the shortness of breath, the smell of the house or my daughters constant nagging but ive had enough of being a smoker . I'm suffering - along with others -with menopausal moods as it is so I dont know what i'll be like if I cant smoke . Heaven help me/staff at work cos I dont know how I'm gonna cope there without a few fag breaks . I can feel myself getting stressed just preparing for it .old enough for my bones to feel the cold .0

Hi all Im pleased to say Im still smoke free!
Can anyone advise me on when my sleeping pattern will go back to normal? I seem to be awake most of the the night. Its becoming a bit of a problem because, Im getting very tired in the daytime. I am getting cravings but, Ive made the decision that this time I will not smoke again. Im feeling the benefits already. My breathing is easier and I feel so much better.
I find that I need to to take my asthma inhalor less and less.
Well done everybody.

morning all. Another day on the quit path for us all.
I was just wondering what fag do you miss the most? Whats the one that you crave for most?
I find first thing in the morning with my first cup of coffee is the hardest.

Congratulations for another milestone tommorrow janiebaby, well done.
Jojo others may have had different timescales on it but I am past ten weeks now and still not sleeping in what I would class as my normal pattern.
Will be out in the middle of nowhere tonight by myself in a situation where I would normally smoke a lot, will be first time in a while but should be ok I hope as there will be nowhere to get any.Smoke free since November 2009.

my sleeping pattern seems quite the opposite jojododd , i am even having a lie in ...i think its because i started waking up in the night and having a smoke with a cuppa before i quit and was then waking early to have another . life ruled by smoking .....what a thought ....I hope you return to a more normal pattern soon though x x
suezilab well done for making the desision to quit , try not to think you,ll be giving something up but more like gaining a whole new you ....as for the "fag breaks " at work take a none fag break instead , as posters have said rightly so on here smoking DOES cayse the stress , you will get a lot of support obn here . I wish you well0 -
I remember someone on another quitsmoking forum saying that smokers aren't lucky at all - they don't get to smoke, they have to smoke. That really brought it home to me, what a slave I was to nicotine and all that went with it - fag breaks, dashing outside for a fix in the cold and rain, etc etc.
As people have said, it's not about giving up smoking, it's about gain, gain, gain - better health, freedom, more spare cash etc.0 -
Evening everyone,
Another smoke free day here too .... lovely to see some new people and some old keeping us all encouraged.
Good luck to everyone x0 -
Day 12 now. Concentration is still a bit to pot - I've tried submitting a post twice now and stuffed it up :rotfl: Last time I was this bad was when I was pregnant!!
Cravings are not as many and not as strong, but I ain't resting on my laurels yet. I've been here before and my 3 week hurdle is still to come. Interesting to read the '3 weeks to break a habit' theory. My last two attempts I fell off the wagon in Week 3. I think it could well be a fear of life without the crutch and also, a kind of exhaustion maybe that builds up from fighting the cravings etc.
I've had the insomnia and disturbed sleep patterns in past attempts, but for some reason I don't this time. Might be cos I'm a lot more relaxed these days. Like you Jammie, I'm pretty ashamed to say that I smoked even when I was in so much debt, I thought I was going to lose my house. Just shows what a horribly addictive habit it is. Stress is a major trigger for me.
Tell you what I do have, tho - very dry, itchy skin - specially round my torso. Is this anything to do with stopping?
Oh, and I've got a big fat tum! Went shopping for healthy munchies today i.e. carrots, cucumber and hummus etc instead of chocolate and sweeties cos my trousers are definitely getting on the tight side.
Ordered two charms and got a free one for my bracelet: a Chinese success symbol for getting this far, a bunch of cherries cos Cherry is my surname, and a bunch of keys to symbolise saving my house.
:T:T:T to all those remaining on the wagon. :grouphug: If you've fallen off, don't despair. It's only the lucky few that decide to stop and manage at the first attempt. Pick yourself up, we'll help dust you down and get you back on the way again.New CC starting balances for 2014: BC: £2780.00 (2717.45) MBNA: £2185.72 (2160.72)
