Some people have side effects with Zyban - I was one of them, I had to stop taking it & didn't go back to the docs then to follow up with something else - should of, but you do what you do at the time.
I have heard a lot of good stuff about Champix that's why I asked for it specifically.0 -
well, what an absolute bundle of joy I am at the moment!
I feel fat, tired, thirsty (have drunk water like a fish though), hungry, sometimes snappy & headachey..:( (also have PMT so not sure which is which sympton at the moment!)
However, on the plus side it's is now almost 3 DAYS with NO smoking!! :T yay for me!! - & eveyone else who's struggling on!0 -

Day 13 for me, and in the last couple of days there has been a definite change. Hard to explain. It's like a kind of resolve. My 'swing-o-meter' has gone right over to the positive side. I feel very up and happy that I'm not chained to the drug any more. Hope this feeling lasts because it is a real high.
Choille, that's really disappointing about the lack of support when you've plucked up the courage to take the first steps. My counsellor is good and I can phone her, even if it's just for encouragement and a chat. If you go on the NHS smoking site, I think you might be able to find the nearest counsellor to you? Put the booklet in the post for you yesterday honey.New CC starting balances for 2014: BC: £2780.00 (2717.45) MBNA: £2185.72 (2160.72)

Thanks Buddy - really kind of you as not having much luck re counsellor - even phoned the 0800 national number & spoke to someone about Champix but they said you take it for 2 weeks & then you must stop smoking which I know is not the case - I'm a bit gobsmacked that it isn't really much cop. The guy - who sounded Indian ( I'm not a rascist, but it reminded me of phoning BT!) Then said anything else in quite a dimissive tone. Not very helpful. I don't know what I was expecting - but not that.
I'll go back on the website & send an email I think as this is a bit pathetic so far.
Really glad you're feeling positive - it's great - you're doing really well.0 -
Thats rubbish choille, Just keep coming on here for support and maybe join a couple of other smoking related forums, it will give you something to do when your having a craving! I joined another one though must admit this one is the best:rotfl:! Also found that sparkling water helps too, (2ltr bottle from Asda for 10p!) much better than plain old water out the tap, its my new favourite drink... tho got a bottle of wine for the BB final tonight LOL!
Last prog of the Celebrity quitters tonight too, got a feeling that Paul Dannan is gonna be the only one who hasnt made it, but hopefully he will try again! Maybe he should come on here for some support.

Thanks FEE - I was just trying to get some one to one stuff before I've even stopped - But I think I'll start taking the Champix tomorrow.
It's snowing here - maybe get snowed in again! The herculean effort to get ciggies the last time made me realise how addicted I am!0 -
Hi all
Another day another dollar. I went to see the nurse for patches and inhalator and she was really pleased with me. Think she thinks Im getting fatter though because she told me to do more excerise. Cant help but reach for the crisps!:rotfl:
Its not easy but we can do it. Cant believe how much easier my breathing feels, its getting better and better each day. :j
Thank you all for your words of wisdom and ongoing support.:T

Hi Choille, Buddy. How are you? Did you start taking the Champix today? Is the link above where you got the number for counsellors?
My neighbour had Champix and I'm sure he started taking them the week before his quit attempt.
Something you can try for your Champix week is delaying when you have a fag. Like, not have one as soon as you get the urge but seeing if you can hold off for a while - strong mints might help. A friend who was a really heavy smoker quit without NRT. He had extra strong mints whenever he felt like a ciggie.
Gonna PM you my numbers. I'm not a counsellor by any means, but I'll know what you're going through.
We've got snow too, tho not as much as last time. It's really sunny tho so it looks very pretty.New CC starting balances for 2014: BC: £2780.00 (2717.45) MBNA: £2185.72 (2160.72)

Morning all
Choille, I can't believe the shoddy service you've been given
I'm sure if you google champix there will be tons of information for you about when to take it, when to stop smoking on them etc etc. It has been very successful for lots and lots of people on here and I really hope it will be for you too. Remember, it's also about the frame of mind, keep it positive, nothing bad will happen to you, only good things
