Hi folks,
Having BIGGGG problems with my PC at present. Spent a fortune on it yesterday trying to sort out all my cursor problems and ........sweet fanny adamstoday!!!! Am using hubbies at the moment, unsure what will be happening to mine. I'm hoping not to have to buy a new one, especially after spending so much today, but we'll just have to wait and see. Who knows....over night a magical fairy or :A angel might work it's magic! Then again....this is the realworld!!
Enough babbling on!
A warm welcome aboard suelizab! Whatever the reasons for you wanting to give up,you'll soon find that it's the best gift you can possibly give yourself, your yougsters too! If you're approaching the menopause then it sounds as though you're choosing the perfect time, and if you believe you're getting stressed just preparing for it - relax as the stress will soon drift away as it's the fags that cause it!!! You smoke one cig, then the stress starts up as soon as the nicotine hits in (accompanied with all it's chemicals!), another 20 minutes or so later and you're that stressed that you're 'craving' for another - right?? Time to start relaxing and getting your health back on track and cash in your pockets. Keep chatting to us and you'll soon be feeling liberated and strong and so much healthier!
Hi Joanne and well done for getting down on the inhalator as the less you need it, the less nicotine you're ingesting!!! It's difficult to say exactly how long it'll be to get your sleeping pattern back to normal, but that's the least of your worries as it won't be long enough to worry about, I promise you. Once you get free of the nicotine (3 days after you last use any nicotine relacement therapy) things will begin to get easier. Until then, end the evening with a leisurely bath/shower, read something light (no hardship to you!;)) and have a nice mug of hot chocolate, cocoa, horlicks or ovaltine. If it really bothers you then go to the chemist and buy some "Kalms", they're a natural substance and have been recommended by many others on here to aid a good night's sleep. Just don't let yourself get worried by it or it'll become more of a pest - relax!
Seems I differed from the rest of you all captainspam, the one that was worse for me initially was the one after a meal, so I used to get straight up and do the dishes. It didn't take long for it not to be a problem, which is why I always suggest folk alter things a little to help them through. Cleaning your teeth first thing in the morning helps, or going straight in for a shower, out for a walk etc. How about tea instead of coffee? Even if it's just for the time being.
Getting close to a really good amount odf time gone by without them janiebaby!!!
I hope your night went well for you chev?
Good Heavens Ceebs ....I was really surprised to see how swiftly that time had gone by!! You're doing so very well!!! Which just goes to show what "it takes 3 weeks to be free from a habit" is worth! Keep it up Ceebs!
Hi hellnearth. First off, the dry, itchy skin - specially round your torso could be to do with your waistband tightening!!!Put on plenty of moisturiser on your skin in general and apply more to your midrift. Forget about getting stressed about the 3 week hurdle which may or may NOT be a problem this time round, instead take up a hobby and keep your hands and mind focused on other things. The charms sound perfect, very well chosen indeed! You CAN life without the crutch that will only like as not result in bad health - or worse! Keep reminding yourself of all the reasons why you're quitting and all that you'll gain as a result of quitting. DON'T FORGET - plenty of water, carrots, apples, oranges etc - AND - plenty of exercise!!!
I wish you well all, you know I do. Keep up the marvellous work and you all know just how great the reward is at the end - go for it!!!!!

Hi stclair - that's good to hear with the Champix.
Today I phoned the help-line for the Highlands to speak with someone & was told there was no one there at the moment but would be phoned back. I wasn't - so hopefully tomorrow.
I don't know whether just to start taking them (Champix) now or to wait.
I'm a bit disappointed in the way I've been sort of left......I think the doc should of given me some sort of brochure or pack.
Just as well I have you guys.0 -

Theres some amazing people in this thread Choille for support if ever you feel you ever need any. Theres all sorts of people within the thread people have quite for years, newbies, people who have quit and started smoking again and there on the 2nd or maybe even 3rd attempt at giving up.

Hi Thanks - I will.
Yes - the thread is great.
I asked for the Chapix of the doc as I had heard it is very good. I tried Zyban a couple of years back & didn't get on too well with that.
So I have yet to start taking them............
I hope to start on the stopping soon.
All the best.0 -
