Hello to everyone else :wave:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Good afternoon everyone.
Just to let you know last night was a success. I managed to go out socially drinking and still did not have a fag, i'm so proud of myself its untrue. I did get an erg however I just played with my tangle that was enclosed my quit kit, its such a cool little gadget to keep your hands busy in difficult circumstances.
When my friends came back from having a fag they stank basically and it was not a nice smell. I was thinking gosh I possibly used to smell like they did when I was smoking. :eek:Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Hi all
I too suffer with depression so cannot have zyban/ champix. Im 33 I started smoking when I was 11. When I see young girls smoking I feel like going up to them and saying it will ruin your life. I suffer with chronic chest problems, astmha, scarring on the lungs,
breathing difficulties and pain every day of my life. I wish I could educate children on the dangers of smoking. I feel very strongly about it.
Sorry about that rant over.
Well done to everybody who is smoke free cutting down and thinking about giving up.
Im smoke free and taking it one day at a time because, its too daunting to think any further.

Got a perscription for Champix. The Doc said I should decide a stop date & then start taking them a week before that - so will have to have a think. It all seems so possible. I mentioned the bad reaction to Zyban I had a couple of years back & hoped that this wouldn't be the same - but she said that it works differently. I think the Zyban has a few problems - well it did for me.
Well I'll have a think about a stop date & post it here if that's okay - for encouragement.
Good that you stopped Joanne - that was a heck of an early age to start. It's great you have stopped now & I understand you wanting to warn others who are smoking at such a young age.
You could maybe do a cessation teacher's course. or whatever & go around schools & places telling them the down side.0 -
Just sticking head around door to say hi to everyone and keep it up x0

Oh shoot!! Typed a long post, but hadn't logged in so I lost it  Tired now - seem to be needing quite a lot of sleep.
choille, buddy, well done on getting to the docs. Did they give you booklet that has tips, advice on planning your quit etc? If not I have a spare. Pm me your address and I'll pop it in the post for you.
Day 9 and it's been a good one. Managed lunch with my 'smoky' friend without giving in and had a day of rejoicing at being smoke free, rather than fighting off panic and doom - lol.

Really great about being able to do the lunch - that's a big hurdle you've lept over.
I'll PM you.
Thanks0 -
You could be right with your thoughts captainspam, but have to do what you think best. Good luck and keep up that will power! :T
It's all sounding so good for you janiebabe, be careful not to become complacent as time goes by. It's good to hear you're so determined to beat it though! :T
Very well done larmy! I was quite surprised at how long it's been for you until your PST title said around 9 months yesterday! Excellent!! A very true post to nirelandguy, I do hope it will be encouraging to him and show it CAN be done!
Hello to you too Jo!
You're more than welcome choille. Great news about your news with the Dr and Champix! Of course it's ok to sort out your stop date and post it here, you'll get all the encouragement we can muster! You live in such a spectacular part of the world, go on out and get plenty of fresh air into your lungs and take pleasure in all that tranquil scenery. I adore it all around Ullapool - and beyond!!
Excellent news on your great success stclair, that is SO much to be proud of!:T
Well done Joanne! I've no doubt that most of us here feel exactly as you do about youngsters that smoke, rightly so too especially after all they know about it. We have a 13 yr old neighbour (and her bf) who smokes - and her parents, who both smoke, LET her!!!! Her cough is terrible NOW!!!
It may be too daunting to think any further than now with yours Joanne, but keep reminding yourself of your age and all the health problems you have already. Yes, take it a day at a time, but if you succeed in quitting from here on, you'll find your problems almost halved and a great life to enjoy so much more!
You sound really good hellnearth! Well done on 9 days free and being able to stay true to yourself while in the company of a smoking friend!!! :T Most of us find we're in need of quite a lot of sleep after quitting, the main reason is that we're all far more relaxed without them. It's the fags that stress us so without them we soon feel so much calmer!
A really good day for everyone, and all of you have so much to be proud of. It's a hard task you've undertaken, but it's one that has unbelievable rewards so long as you stay strong and NEVER even think of "having just one puff"! After all, do you really want to go back and pick up the path to such bad health, now...or later? Of course you don't!! Keep battling on all and you'll be chuffed to bits at your success, I promise you!!
