Hi Everyone.
Welcome to the newbie's your definitely in the right place for help and support in your quest to give up smoking and becoming smoke free.
I'm still smoke free and its not bothered me at all yet. However it does seem strange going into my local shop and not buying any fags.
I'm a bit worried though this evening as i'm going out socially tonight with a bunch of smokers. I need to stay strong and not buckle once i've had a few drinks.
I've been around smokers at work on breaks and lunches etc and it has not bothered me at all so far, hopefully fingers and toes crossed tonight will be the same
My appetite has increased i'm eating like its going out of fashion, however i'm not too worried about that as i'm only slim and can afford to put on some weight.
Well done for getting so far. Hopefully I can to.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Well done jammy dodger, you sound so very positive, good for you!:Tjo1972 wrote:I started the original thread nearly 3 years ago and I can't believe how many people have quit smoking, totally inspirational
Totally inspirational is exactly what the threads have become since you started the first Jo, I love it that you keep on coming back to help others! I hadn't realised it was THAT long since you quit, fantastic and so much to be delighted with!!:T BTW, Jo, your posts to Choille were absolutely amazing and absolutely correct!!! Well done for all the contact information too! All the very best for the other problem Jo! Night Owl x
Hi and welcome Choille! It's lovely to have you with us and I wish you all the very best in quitting for good!!! Keep reading Jo's posts, they're perfect!! Try not to be too fearful of quitting, it's never as bad once you've taken the bull by the horns and started. It will be a great idea in taking the hand of help and friendship offered by hellnearth, possibly doing you both a great deal of good!
Brilliant news Joanne!!! :TYou're doing yourself proud. It's good to know the PM came in handy, I wrote the words, but it's you that has the wisdom to keep reading it to help yourself, well done!!
Good for you Ceebs!! :T
hellnearth,I think we can allsympathise and understand yourwords "I'm taking it one day at a time because the prospect of life without a cigarette ever again is just too daunting to contemplate at the moment." It's how ALL of us has been affected and how we've all viewed what it would be like without them, but you CAN live without them, we DO survive! You'll see in time, but as you say, a day at a time for now will do it nicely! Well done for the help with Choille!
Great news on your time so far janiebabe!!! :T
Great going captainspam, the thoughts are only natural for a short while, keeping as busy as possible is great therapy!
Hi again nirelandguy! Have you seen your Dr about the quitting of the cigs? He/she might just be able to help more with both problems. Meanwhile, just keep right on quitting, one of these days it'll happen, but for now it looks as though perseverance is the key. I'll send another PM, keep with it, and with anything else you even THINK might help - anything is worth a try! Keep talking to us on here too, and whether you're feeling good or not so good, tell us as doing so is so much better for you.
I hope the evening went well for you stclair I'm sure it's much better now that the smokers go outside, though it's possibly best if you don't follow for the time being.
We'll close with JD's advice to you all "I wish everyone who has quit or thinking about quitting strength and determination to see it through take each day as it comes Keep in mind the reasons why you chose to quit in the first place , YOU CAN DO IT"

Good morning. How are all you quitters feeling this morning?
Day 7 for me. I am only taking 1 champix a day instead of the recommended 2 so i think thats why im thinking about smoking a far bit. Anyway i think a bit of will power is needed to keep me on my toes.
Have a good day all.Nov 2010 :1st win beauty box set of 3 worth £40 and a cushelle koala

Morning all! Here is to another smoke free week. The only reason it even crosses my mind is because it is on my list of subscribed threads which brings me over to you lovely people who are all in varying stages of a quit.
Just keep going - it is wonderful to be smoke free and not being nagged by some invisible force.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Nirelandguy I have not had time to read all your posts. Did you try Zyban as I understand that is an anti-depressant anyway?
Please believe me I have been where you are at so many times it is untrue. Now I am coming up to my ten month anniversary! How did this happen? Only by joining this thread. I have been in tears and on my knees praying to God to take this horrible addiction from me. I have been free a few times, but the lure of nicotine was still there.
With this thread and joining all the people on here, I am determined that this is my last attempt. I could not bear to put myself through all this again.
You can do it - nicotine will tell you, you can't but in my view it is one of the biggest liars ever to set foot on this earth.
Got to go to work now but sending out lots of positve vibes to you.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
