Luckycharm, try to you make your month celebration in a way you'll remember for a good while, then do something in the same way for the next month etc. You're doing a grand job and rightfully deserve to reward yourself.:T
Thanks Ceebs & MumOf2, though it's my pleasure, really it is. I quite agree with the taxes etc with the Government, and that goes for all parties! They've raked it in over the past goodness knows how long, yet for years all the true facts about the damage caused by them was hidden from us! Sickening!! Re Celebrity Quitters, to be honest I didn't watch it as I couldn't bear to go through all that again, too many memories. Though from what Lewki says they're taking in way too much nicotine by wearing patches and taking inhalers, madness to my mind as they then still have to come off the actual drug! It sounds as though the cold turkey method was the best for me though! Saying all that, part of me would like to watch it to see how far I've come, we'll see. I dread to think just what my chest would be like now IF I had kept it up this last 11 years. Keep going everyone as I so want you all to feel like I do now! Best journey I ever made!
A good idea with the cosmetic mirror etc janiebabe.
A warm welcome Det and I hope you derive the have great gift of achievement of quitting smoking out of your pain. My heart goes out to you as it's a long time you've shared together. Best now than after another 4 years (and possibly kiddies) later!
The great advice given by MumOf2 is better than anything I could say so please take heed of it. "Please do keep going though - crying, brisk walking, going window shopping (try on as many things as you can!), drinking water, writing down the many many benefits of not smoking - anything not to have one. You WILL feel so much better for it." I'll be in touch later. I've just seen your latest post, PLEASE don't let him carry on hurting you with his boasting, show him what you're made of and that really..... he's done you a favour! Please don't give in, keep strong and nore the PM I'm sending.
Good for you Lewki. It was great where you pit about your wife, it really did make me giggle. Go for it 'proper' this time and get both eyebrows up in surprise! It sounds as though it would make her so very happy if you could make it this time! All the very best.
A warm welcome to the thread Louiser, of course you can join us! No doubt you'll have seen that stclair is using Champix too, she's getting on fine with them. All the very best to you in quitting.
A warm welcome to you too hellnearth! Keep with us and have a good old rant whenever you need it and let's see if we can get you past that horrible 3 week wobble. If changes are needed to help you then alter patterns around - if it'll help it's worth the effort. Your DS sounds a real treasure, use him to help you, he'll love it and will certainly love his Mum to be healthier in the long run! Hang on to the motivation you have after your CM reading which is GREAT news!!! Go on, you can do this!
Brilliant news stclair the start of a great life awaits you!!!:T
Wonderful news about you captainspam, keep it up, it's so worth it!:T
Oh dear Bruce! You're NOT a total failure, and if you haven't smoked the 10 then treat the 1 as a blip and carry on as the ex-smoker you'd become...but staying strong all the time! Get into the habit of saying "no thank you, I don't smoke anymore!" Stick to it, you CAN do it Bruce so please don't be too hard on yourself. Move on, back on your journey!:)
All the very best everyone, you're doing so very well and should be extremely proud of yourselves. Keep patting yourselves on the back, then go for a walk and breathe in that beautiful fresh air.

Hi all
How lovely to see all you newbies supporting each other and giving each other lots of tips to get through those first few weeks.
I cannot tell you how much easier it gets the further along you go. It is so worth the discomfort you will/may feel for a short time.
Keep it up all of you. Freedom from smoking is the greatest gift you can give yourself. XXGrocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

Hello everyone
Its so great to see how many folk have taken the smoke free journey and post their suppport on here since I started
IT DOES GET EASIER . i am pleased to report i have barely thought about smoking the past couple of days, and if i have its been a short thought followed by a YUK !!! No i dont want to smell ...
I stilll have the job of clearing away a small fortunes worth of tabbies i used to smoke on my front door step and leave the butts in a corner they are still covered by snow so yet to clear up , it'll be another reinforcement i guess to NEVER LIGHT UP AGAIN when i do egt chance to clear them
I wish everyone who has quit or thinking about quitting strength and detrmination to see it through take each day as it comes Keep in mind the reasons why you chose to quit in the first place , YOU CAN DO IT
JD x x
according to the silkquit meter i hhave NOT smoked 302 cigarettes and saved a whopping £91.92 already :j0 -
I can't believe how long I've been quit now, I never thought it would work and I tried hundreds of times to quit, but I seem to have got there (never complacent though
)
Within the first month of this quit, I succumbed to a cigerette, I didn't enjoy it but smoked it anyway. This was a blip that I quickly forgot and moved on. BruceWayne DO NOT LET IT GET TO YOU, move on quickly, you are doing so well :T:T:T:TDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Hi everybody
Ive not smoked Im feeling proud of myself. Had an appointment with my health care assistant on friday but I missed it over slept! I cant believe how much less dopey I feel in the morning. Dont even need the gallons of coffee anymore.
Ive been abit grouchy with my family and boyfriend. Think they understand though. Well I hope they do. My dad gave up 2 years ago so, he knows what Im going through.
Ive taken up crochet to keep my hands busy. Theres 2 very good threads on here. It was easier to pick up then I thought it would be.
Big hugs to all the newbies and congratulations to everybody who has been stopped for longer.
Thank you sue uu for your words of encouragement. I often read the pm you sent me.
Well done everybody keep up the good work. We can do it.

Really need to stop smoking.
I'm having major dental problems & yesterday I smoked less than half of what I normally would - same today, but I want to stop. Just feeling all weak & hopeless.
I'm nearly 50 & have smoked since I was 16 - eeek.
Should I go to the Docs?
I once tried Zyban but it had horrid side effects so I stopped it & didn't stop smoking.
Do I do the patch thing, cold turkey - what else can I try?
I can't afford to smoke & am pretty disgusted at how much I spend on cigs & what I could use that money for instead.0 -
Hi Choille,
Welcome to the thread
Go to see your doc and ask about smoking cessation clinics in your area, you can get yourself sorted out with a plan and NRT at a much cheaper price than buying it yourself as it's given on prescription.
Have you tried cold turkey? Keep yourself busy and reward yourself lots
Failing that Boots have advisors for people wanting to quit.
Good luck, stick around and get advice from the good people on here xxDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0
