  • One month, six days, 11 hours, 1 minute and 58 seconds. 561 cigarettes not smoked, saving £128.95. Life saved: 1 day, 22 hours, 45 minutes.

looking at that, I really can't believe its true.........but it is! :j:j

haven't posted an awful lot, think simply because as each day passes, it gets that little easier, and as FEE said I too just don't seem to need the support as often.

still using the nicotine lozenges from morrisons but I have cut right down on the amount of them that I am using, and can see a time in the future where I wont need them at all, brilliant news because I was worried that I was swapping one form of nicotine addiction for another.

although I am not posting, I do pop on a couple of times a week just to see how everyone is getting on, I am particularly looking forward to seeing how you get on with champix st clair i tried them in the past and your experiences so far are very similar to my own. good luck for your quit date on friday :D

keep going everyone :T and anyone who is lurking and considering stopping, take the plunge and join us, you wont regret it

  • Day 7 of Champix and day 2 of my quit. Because i have experience of champix i know its not a miracle and still takes will power which i dont have a lot of. I normally smoke alot first thing in the morning so this morning i'm going a little bit mad. Im trying to keep as busy as i can and everytime i think of smoking i say NO and go have a drink of water.

stclair as you can see im on champix too and understand what your saying about they dont seem to work. Once you get too 2 tablets a day it really does kick in. I thought it was going to be a miracle drug but its just an aid like all the others. Good luck for friday.

Well day 20 has finally arrived and still not given in had the strange taste in mouth quite a lot since saturday so teeth are getting a lot of brushing.

other than that no porblems to report.. omnly using gum every other day now if that and only really having one piece so dont think i will be using that before long.

too be honest i think the gum is just comforting knowing it is there if i get a really strong urge for a cig instead of given in too temptation i just get gum. well in the first few days i would but now like i said it is only every other day once if that.

Hi folks, just found this thread, and wish I had spotted it earlier.

I packed up on Jan 1st this year, was going great, but cracked today, I had a sneaky one, and I feel so guilty and weak.
The thing is I really enjoyed it as well.

I gave up cold turkey so to speak, no patches, gum etc, just sheer determination, my hubby smokes, but he or we both always smoked outside, as I would never smoke in the home.

I am trying to stay away from a couple of friends who smoke, and it has helped, but I am so annoyed and angry at myself as I was doing so well till today.

Tomorrow is another day so they say lol.

Just wanted to say that you have done so well so far, don't beat yourself up over it, just don't buy anymore and keep going. Your body will not be so used to them now so it should be a bit easier.

I gave up cold turkey on 5 Oct 2009 so it is nearly 4 months for me now, but during the first month, I also had a few relapses so know how you feel.

You will get there and as time goes on it does get easier, as you get to the stage where you do not think about them as much.

Good Luck to you and all the other quitters.

I've tackled the no smoking so I am now trying to tackle the Red Wine LOL. I've put on so much weight due to these habbits.

    take care everyone

Hello. I think this is the 3rd time I have come back to this site to state that I am quitting. I have periods that are a great success - go without the smokes for a period of weeks and then start again.

I have my patches ready. I know that by day 3 I feel great, but I am at that typical stage of worrying about day 1. I am off to work out the exact day to quit, or do I get on with it tonigt - I need to get a grip lol!

As an aside, there is another great benefit of giving up smoking (other than health and financial etc)...that is the really vivid dreams I always get when having a patch on. I never remember my dreams normally but I do when sleeping with a patch on. Has anyone else experienced this or have I just really embarrassed myself lol

Hello to misgrace, shadydaz and lewki!

Huge well done to everyone elsex

2W, 5 Days, 14 hours - 254 cigarettes not smoked, £34 saved (I always smoked duty free from Spain!)
  • Hello to the newcomers.

Well done ceebeeby, another day clear.

Lewki, whatever suits you best is the way to do it, I have tried set date in the past and never succeeded, this time I got in one night and just decided to stop and it has stuck so far. Lots of people seem to work well with picking a quit date in advance though.

Which ever you try good luck and I am sure everyone on here will be as helpful to you as they have been to me.
    Smoke free since November 2009.
