That's brilliant Janie .... wow, what powerful words
"you are a non-smoker"
It's like music to a lovely song.
Go you x0 -
Two weeks, 19 hours, 34 minutes and 2 seconds. 296 cigarettes not smoked, saving £72.89. Life saved: 1 day, 40 minutes.
I'm doing totally fine now, no side effects any more and going to see the doctor tomorrow for more tablets. I've been spending time with my smoking friends and been out drinking loads and not had any cravings!
Good luck to everyone else.0 -
Hello could i please join in with your no smoking thread.
I am a serial quitter and I am now going to quit again. I quit for a whole year from jan 08 to dec 08 and then stupidly decided to start smoking again. Why i will never know but have for the past year been smoking. I did my year quit with the help of champix and my Dr has been good enough to give me then again. I am on day 5 of taking the champix and already dont really want to smoke but its the habit that making me light up. My quit day is thursday and i am determined to quit forever this time.

Ill be on the blue tablets 2moro so I wonder if thatll make any difference.
Ive not had any side affects so far to date except for a bit of wind and that was not too serious. ;-)Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Welcome to the thread Captainspam and well done on your decision to stop smoking :T
I always remember a quote by Oscar Wilde. He said '..giving up smoking is easy...I've done it many times...' Well that was me and I almost started to believe I couldn't do it. But I gave myself a really good shake and I've gone for it this time. It's been nearly 6 weeks now and I can't describe how fantastic I feel.
Keep posting here - you'll get a lot of support. In fact I found reading old postings really helpful in the very early days - they gave me lots of inspiration and kept me focused on why I was giving up. It also kept me busy at the same time!
Lots of luck to you.

hmm day 16 and for some reason i have like a nicotine taste in my mouth anyone else had this? not had a cig at all and only had one peace of chewing gum which was yesterday and that first one in 5 days
other than this everything going fine
I often had a funny taste in my mouth which reminded me of smoking - so it's good to know it wasn't just me - but I don't know what causes it. I just used to keep popping tic tacs to try and get rid of it!0 -
Thank you for the welcome.
When i gave up for a year back in 2008 i felt great and honestly never thought i would smoke again. The day i did picked up a cigerette and lit it i went dizzy, it burnt the back of my throat and tasted disgusting so why did i continue to smoke it. I really cannot answer that but i do know that i can do this.
The Champix is already kicking in and im not thinking about smoking much but still get drawn to the kitchen to pick up a smoke. Im still going to stick to my quit day of thursday even though i want to quit today. Hopefully the next couple of days i will hardly be smoking anything anyway.
