Very well said indeed Graeme! It really is that simple stclair! "Easy for you to say being ex-smokers" you might be thinking, but - we only know because of the experience and it DOES turn out to be just as Graeme says. The fear you have is never, ever worth it....you'll see!
Great news janiebaby29! :T Have a wonderful day and enjoy the changes that are already beginning to take place within you! :j

Now
Smober time: 1M 3W 4D 20H
Money not spent on cigarettes: £346.15
Cigarettes not smoked: 1,116
Still amazed at the way this racks up so quickly. Not yet at 8 weeks (hit that at 7pm this evening) and already not spent soooooooooooo much and not smoked sooooooooooooo many. When I visualise more than five and half cartons, it seems pretty disgusting that I could have smoked all those since 20th November. And for what? Just to cough and wheeze and smell and be cold.
Just don't feel like drinking either - originally decided not to as its such a strong trigger for smoking, but then just got out of the habit. I usually spend an average of £35 a month on alcohol so that's another saving of £70! £416 all together. This leaves the question - what do you drink with dinner? Am now reverting to my northern roots and drinking cups of tea. With dinner!
Going to bed early is so wonderful, and sleeping better and longer is great too.
Am so impressed with the determination of people on here. This support thread should be patented and marketed as a cessation intervention - I'm sure the success rate is heaps better than the pharmacological interventions pushed as part of the Government propoganda machine.
Keep strong, keep going.

What was that book in the eighties "Feel the Fear but do it anyway" - well it's the same with quitting smoking. The fear is bigger than the actual outcome, which is really rather nice..............:)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I'll drink to that larmy! Ok, have a cuppa on it then!
Many congratulations MumOf2 on 8 weeks having quit!!!! :T You've done so very, very well and have so much to be chuffed to bits with, well done!!! A marvellous post MumOf2!! When you analyse it all as you've done above - to carry on smoking is ludicrous! I wish a lot of folk could read your post, it's all so right. BTW. I'm with you on the cup of tea with a meal, that's DH & I to a ...tea!
Congratulations Luckycharm!!! :T 3 weeks as a non-smoker is brilliant!!! Congratulations also to Luckycharm's Mum on finishing the fags!!!:T Keep it up please, as your lass is doing a brilliant job and wants you to as well!!!
Have a lovely weekend everyone. No matter about it being wet folks, don't let it mar your time whatever you do, and - whatever it is that you do - make it smoke-free and healthy!!! :j

I'm happy to report that I'm still going strong. Had a bit of a stresssful day today and in my smoking days that would result in a lot of smoking but not today!! It did cross my mind of course but I told myself if I do it now that would be it, I'd be back to smoking and I didn't want that. I know that cigarretes don't help stress only make it worst. Instead I did extra housework.
Someone was asking about coffee in the morning and not smoking, don't worry very quickly I came to a point where I didn't need that coffee or at least not first thing in the morning. I still had coffee first thing when I just started quitting but after about few days I started waking up feeling fresher and more rested and just didn't feel the need for that coffee. Now I have it later in the mornig.
I agree with larmy16 about the fear. It is scary but be strong, persevere! Don't let that nicotine voice in your head brake you. Keep reminding yourself that you don't want to smoke anymore and why you want to quit. It gets better bit by bit.
Keep strong everyone.Official DFW Member no:4100 -
