    Right boys and girls.

Ive just seen an advert on channel 5 for a new programme called "celebrity quitters" the programme is all about giving up smoking.

    Celebrity Quitters
    Channel FIVE

New series following celebrities as they struggle to quit smoking. Linda Robson, John Burton Race, Chloe Madeley, Paul Danan and Derek Acorah embark on a variety of challenges and methods to help them give up the killer weed. In the opening episode, the celebrities meet each other and the support team who reveal the results of their medical tests. Then it is time for the celebrities to smoke their last cigarette before their first smoke-free evening. SUB

    Documentary

Monday 18th January on FIVE from 7:30pm to 8:00pm
Also: at least 7 other Episodes.

It will be interesting but aside from Linda Robson, I cannot bear any of the other "celebrities". Thanks for the reminder.

  • I've now gone one month, one week and one day without a cigarette:j:j:j

I've had my ups and downs, gone from jumping with joy to sobbing my socks off but do you know what everyone - overall it wasn't as hard as I thought and the weeks are just flying by.

Good luck guys and keep it up. We can all do it!!

I must say ive had a really horrible day personally at work today etc.

When I do give up smoking I dont know if I would be able to get through the day without a cig, as specially today has been really stressful.

i reckon the key is being prepared we are going to get stressful times/ days , i was having one a couple of days ago when i would of reached for cigarette packet i knew if i had a smoke i would of felt much much worse and as i didnt i got over the stress and felt great for not giving in at the firt hurdle , i imagined if it doesnt sound daft a cigarette on my shoulder saying go on smoke me i'll make you feel better .. and me saying in my head you are not my friend you will make the situation worse .. Ive not been locked up yet :D

am sure you'll find your own way of coping , but be prepared for plan B and NOT plan A which would be to have a smoke .. and if if if you do make sure you dont reach for another ..... good luck and hope your day gets better x x

That is amazing Luckycharm. So encouraging for the newer quitters. I am on month 9 now and I rarely think of smoking these days. Occasionally I get the odd twinge, but then you think hmmmm..........that would mean standing outside in the freezing cold....not relaxing atall. It is just a learned response...that's all I think. And anything can be unlearned, I believe.

  • I smoked my last cigarette on Monday night and so far so good, this is my third attempt at stopping and I am determined to do it this time.

My husband and I agreed to stop together after I pointed out that we spend around £300 per month on Cigs

What makes it hard is that we both cope differently with giving up he struggles at the beginning (I know he has not managed to stop yet) and I struggle after 2 or 3 months I get very emotional and end up caving in order to feel sane again.

I don't normally post on here but thought that maybe a bit of extra support might help me to get through the tough times
