I appreciate your comments Desert flyer regarding the plastic ciggys. I only used mine for a couple of weeks and half the time I could not find it!! Anyway, what prompted me to write about them, was I was clearing out a drawer and there it was.

Just thought it might help someone over those first few weeks of wanting to inhale. :)

  • Just thought I would check in and see how everyone is doing.

I will be 9 weeks cold turkey on Friday. Had a few moments of being close to buckling recently. I seem to have gone through early stage easily but I am struggling a little at the moment.

Have been on a bit of a downer since Christmas as a result of a few personal matters so I am sure it is just that which is causing it.

Hope the rest of you are all feeling ok with it.

  • Thanks everyone, I really hope it happens this time Sue.

I haven't had the cravings too bad today, and I'm even having a bottle pf bud tonight! I still really want a cigarette but find it is wore when hubby is at work during the day amnd I'm on my own with dd. I think I need to find other thigns to fill the time with, particularly those times when I would have smoked, such as after food.

I am really chuffed with myself though even though I've had a banging headache all day!!

Thanks for all your support it really does mean a lot, and good luck to everyone who needs it! xxx

    Hi all
Was just having a little nosey of this thread and wanted to say well done everyone.:T
    I have now been a non-smoker for 1 year, 8 months and 25 days!!!
I was an incredibly heavy smoker for 25+ years until my little girl wrote the number down from an advert on tv for NHS stop smoking helpline!!!
I smoked from the minute I opened my eyes until I went to bed and was even known to get up in the night for one!!

I used champix and went weekly to the NHS stop smoking classes at the local hospital. The classes were the best incentive as they tested you every week and knew if you had even had a puff!! The champix was great at the beginning but I only took them for a few weeks as I couldnt cope with the dreams and general weird feelings all the time but as a starter they were fantastic.

My dad died from lung cancer a year before I gave up and it took me that long to get around to stopping, I never wanted my daughter to have to watch what I did, that is the biggest incentive there can possibly be.

So I suppose what I'm trying to say is that you can do it, its bloody hard but not impossible. Take all the help you can get as well cause it really does help.

    Good luck everyone x

    4 weeks today.
OK the above is a bit dramatic but so is 4wks, Im hoping that this milestone is going to push me on and before I know it Ill be at four months. Getting my hair cut and coloured tomorrow because I blinking well deserve it. Probably cost what Ive saved on smoking but who cares it`ll be money well spent instead of up in smoke.:D
Good luck everyone in the very early stages I had a wee blip in the early days but by coming on here I was encouraged and supported back on the straight n narrow!! This thread is really a life saver!
