    - well done for making that decision to give up and good luck to all of you.

Keep posting on here - I find the help, support and tips are invaluable. It also helps to know that there are other people who truly do know how you feel and understand what you are going through.

I've not been on for a few days, but I've just read all the recent posts and I've got to say that the support being given to each other on here at the moment is fantastic.

Good luck and well done to everyone.

I'm on Day 11 now, and have posted before about how nauseating I'm finding the smell of stale smoke ... and also, all these other wierd smells that are popping up.

I made home made meatballs tonight - the smell of fat is all through my downstairs! I think I'm going to spend as much on 'freshners' as I used to on fags.

Also, at the dentist earlier today, a woman sat next to me in the waiting room and she bowfed!

Does this yukky feeling ever go away! I'm a bit worried as I have quite an expressive face (so I'm told) and I don't want to offend anyone!!!

Stale smoke is pretty vile Ceebeeby. I guess you are getting your sense of smell back. Some of the public do smell a bit manky..........my particular hate is the smell of greasy lardy looking hair, complete with big chunks of dandruff. Eugh.

don't know what to suggest about your expressive face though. Once I was in a charity shop and there was a vile smell of poo (like a filled nappy) but there was only this woman with those horrible baggy tracky bottoms on. Maybe she was wearing some kind of incontinence pads but I was gagging and had to leave the shop.

Have I made you feel any better?;):D

  • Thankyou for the lovely welcome everyone. I now only have one cig left in the pack due to a car malfunction this evening and having to wait in the cold for a mechanic friend to come fix it for me! So my quit date has now moved to tomorrow!!! I'm quite excited about going smoke free now! xxx

  • Stclair- Don't worry about getting Champix (one guy I saw called it Tampax if that makes you feel any better!) over Zyban. 9 times out of 10 I would advise Champix over Zyban anyway. It has a higher success rate, and unlike Zyban, the manufacturers actually know how it works. It triggers something in your brain that reduces the pleasure element of the nicotine, basically it just makes you uninterested in cigarettes.

I know you may feel really determined to stop right now, but in order for the tablets to be most effective it is best if you smoke for the first week.

    Best of luck!

Hi, everyone. I can't believe I'm almost on day 10. I'm so proud of myself!! I have to say day 5 and 6 were hardest so far but didn't give in. What is even more impressive (even if I say so myself) is that my husband still smokes. I never thought I would stop before him. Whenever we tried to stop before he was the stronger one and lasted longer. He is planning to stop soon too, just preparing mentaly. Only smokes at the back by an open window which helps.

I would also recommend Allen Carr's book. It helped me stop, no question. Read and read again!!

Thank you all for your kind words of support. I find it very helpfull to be part of this group.

Do you have any fruit in the house that you can pick at if you're feeling fidgety.

It's fabulous that you've made the first step!
