 Oh Im losing the plot today, screamed at kids, raged at my lovey dog for having the audacity to cast hairs all over my house, having an angry day....
Kids away upstairs with OH to watch a DVD they had enough of me :o! 4 weeks tomorrow and Im so chuffed for getting this far but my goodnes the family are suffering every second with me poor b*ggers:o Mite take them out to Frankie and Bennys at the weekend and spend all that lovely money Ive saved It will be £67 by end of tonight, so basically its like getting that money out the bank, rolling up the notes and lighting them, burning them and I was quite happy to do that to my hard earned cash for 30 yrs. What an idiot. I remember why I started smoking it was to impress one of my sisters who had moved away to work at a holiday camp couldnt wait to tell her when she came home..... she wasnt impressed at all and told me to give up. Ha should have listened to her all those years ago1!
Smoke free since 16th Dec 2009

    Day 12 is nearly over.

Didn't feel quite so picky today, although did have a bit of a chocolate session earlier - not too mad a one! Also, just ate a normal dinner.

Had a bit of a cleaning frenzy going on, so didn't really notice this evening.

Although i never smoked in the house, there was always a wee bit of a 'dragged in' smell from coats etc. so we're in the process of defumigating coats, doors, back door curtains etc. It does smell better already I'm chuffed to say!

Well done everyone, you're all doing fab.

Hello and welcome janiebabe! All the very best with quitting, and staying that way!:D

The dreams are a very natural event Fee, you may well get some more, just shrug it off and be chuffed with yourself for finishing with the real thing! Don't let your feelings of yesterday worry you, today may be totally different. Your OH and kiddies will soon have forgotten what you're like as it's only temporary, so on every down day, look ahead to the next!:D

Tippytoes, I thought it was a good idea for you to put the post about you friend's Dad passing away due to fags, it helps anyone struggling to perhaps think twice when they might not have done. Not scare tactics at all, facing things for what they are..or can be! Commiserations to your friend.

Hi Tigerlilley, good to see you back and trying once again! Maybe this time......!;)

All the best with Champix stclair, who knows it may even have been a far better choice for you, best way to view it.

Good to see you still staying firm Mollie!

Good for you with the cleaning cbeebs, it really does help psychological.:j

Congratulations mrs-d!! :TYou're doing so very well and deserve that great feeling of pride. I do hope your husband's able to join you soon.

Congratulations to you too Puzzled!! :TAmazing how the sweet/yuk smells come round with smokers, though it obviously affects us all in the same way.I wonder if we were all put together if the same people's smoke would affect us all in the same ways.

Lovely to see you MumOf2!! Excellent news about how far you've travelled!! :TYour penultimate paragraph says it all, and each are so good for quitters, it's good to see you took it on board!

Well done on staying strong jammie dodger, a great mantra!

Hi glo, are you still chewing gum? If so that can bloat you very quickly, chew it for a short while then spit it or hold it at the side of the mouth for a good while before chewing again. Course, you're bloated feelings could be due to ttotm!

A good day for most, good times for almost all. Keep it up folks as you know it doesn't make sense not to. Stay strong always and you'll get through it!!

I cannot recommend highly enough those little plastic cigarettes that you can get in some chemists. Maybe they sell them on Ebay. They cost about £1.99 and when you get that urge to inhale, they seem to really do the trick as they have some herb type thing in them which does seem like nicotine. It helped me so much. Here they are.

Thanks for this Larmy - your timing was perfect!

I'm going to try and find some of these and see if they can do the trick!

Can I offer a word of caution about these? I may be wrong but I have always seen smoking as beeing a physical addiction and a psychological addiction. If you use these then you could be making it harder to quit properly as you are not remving the psychological addiction - there is still a dependency to have something in your hand/ to inhale on. If you later find yourself in a situation where you don't have one of these you risk reaching for a cigarette instead.

That's only my own opinion and larmy16 says they worked really well, so I think it depends on the person.

10 days down and feeling really good, barely thinking about it at all now. To the new quitters - tough it out those first few days and it will get a lot easier.

    Keep going everyone!

Well folks - It has now been one year and one day not smoking for me. That was after 20 odd years of roll ups! For those of you just on this road the message is 'keep at it' - it does get better each day. This is what worked for me

    1. I read the Allan Carr book (which is a PDF attachment I have posted within this thread for you).

    2. I bought 1 weeks supply of 21mg patches and 2 weeks 14 mg. I used these as:
    a. week one - overdosed on patches by using the 21mg patch during the day (fantastic!!!) - took them off at night as you dont smoke at night eh!
b week 2 - used the 14mg patches - again during the day also but not at night.
    c. week 3 - cut the 14mg patches in half with scissors and used that as a 7mg patch.
    d. week 4 - no patches !!

I deliberately did not change my routine, and 'invited' myself out for a 'non smoke' break with the smokers. I found that the invites did stop when its known you are stopping. However, I felt it important to me that I kept to a little routine! Very rarely do I feel any urge to smoke - even when having a drink or three!

I have put weight on - but this is next on the list - being fat is better than smoking I think.

So keep at it folks - it can be done, and if you do need any inspiration the folks on here are fantastic.

As a non smoker now, I don't frequent this thread often - best of luck to you all!!
