hey everyone
Well done on staying quitand hi to all you newbies
I'm still going strong, keep having funny moments, walked past a bloke smoking last week, first thing in the morning and it smelt sooooooo lush, then about 2 hours later, walked past another man smoking and he STANK it was horrible.
I really dont understand what my brain is doing lol.
I still dont use the "quick" counters in the supermarkets because they sell fags (and the last time i went to one i almost asked for my regular brand for no reason other than habit!)
I think that the smell thing does die down Ceebeeby! I have noticed that some of the foods i used to love i dont love quite so much and some of the foods i hated i love more
Random lol
Hope everyone has a nice smoke free day

Well done everyone for keeping going :-) The cravings do seem to come and go but eventually we will be rid of them for ever and how much better to have overcome them than given in.
Latest quit meter readings:

Amazing! Am feeling so well and very pleased that am now nearly at two months. I'm really looking forward to the time when I would have been buying the next supply in Europe and facing a huge credit card bill - BUT NOT THIS YEAR!!!!
As Sue (and others) say - fruit (particularly of the peeling variety), water and exercise are wonderful weapons in your armoury. Relaxing baths with bubble bath and a good book, manicures/pedicures, clearing out a cupboard/room, etc. are good distractors too.
Thanks everyone for your support and comments.

I am with Graeme on the vigilance thing but gentle vigilance and not white knuckle vigilance if you get my drift.
I can think of one instance where I might well start again and that would be if my partner left me for someone else. Sorry folks - but I admit that would be the hugest test of my resolve and I don't know if I would be strong enough.
Let's hope it does not happen, but I am just being honest here.
I do think the smoking ban has removed so many of the previous reasons one might be tempted to start again, a drink and cig in the pub being one, relaxing anywhere with a cigarette - the sure knowledge of the illnesses it can bestow etc. etc.
Have a happy non-smoking week everyone.
larmy my dad died less than 2 months after I quit last year - that would've been the easiest excuse in the book to light up wouldn't it? But this time, with the help of Allen Carr clinic, I know that's all it ever is. An excuse. My mindset has now changed and I was even more alert and aware than ever not to fall into the trap of accepting a trigger.
The key is to remember that no stress or situation is ever relieved by smoking. Ever. Of course you know all that but I'm sure if it boiled down to it you would be like the rest of us and have a relapse in a moment of weakness - not in a time of true personal stress.0 -

Stclair- Don't worry about getting Champix (one guy I saw called it Tampax if that makes you feel any better!) over Zyban. 9 times out of 10 I would advise Champix over Zyban anyway. It has a higher success rate, and unlike Zyban, the manufacturers actually know how it works. It triggers something in your brain that reduces the pleasure element of the nicotine, basically it just makes you uninterested in cigarettes.
I know you may feel really determined to stop right now, but in order for the tablets to be most effective it is best if you smoke for the first week.
Best of luck!
Thanks Roxanne,
I popped my first pill at 8am this morning with my cornflakes.
Everythings been okay so far however ive smoked less today and when I did it didnt taste how it normally would, it tasted abit dodgy and got half way down my cig and though I really dont want this !!
Am I better then to chain smoke before my stop date which ive now set as the 22/01/10 for it to be effective.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Hi all.
I cannot recommend highly enough those little plastic cigarettes that you can get in some chemists. Maybe they sell them on Ebay. They cost about £1.99 and when you get that urge to inhale, they seem to really do the trick as they have some herb type thing in them which does seem like nicotine. It helped me so much. Here they are.

Thanks for this Larmy - your timing was perfect!
For some reason I'm just not with it tonight. I can't seem to be able to concentrate and I've been sitting here playing around with an IKEA pencil. Feel as though I'm going to climb up the wall or burst into tears soon - just don't know what's wrong with me
I'm going to try and find some of these and see if they can do the trick!
