  • Hi all! I have posted and tried to quit before but 'm going to try again. I received my qut pack today and loving the toy, but don't get the point of the toothbrush lol.

I have five ciggies in my pack so am going to quit the day after tomorrow. I have gradually been decreasing what I smoke and have gone from 10-15 a day to 3-4 a day.

Good luck to everyone quitting and I will be joining you all very soon xx

  • Janiebaby29 - I stopped drinking coffee in the morning a few months ago as I didn't have time and that completely broke the association with cigarettes. I'd try something else in the morning for a while.

StClair - Remember you'll still be smoking for a week at least after starting Zyban so don't worry about cutting down just yet. I didn't cut down at all and I'm doing well so far.

I also recommend the Allen Carr book to everyone trying to quit, I read it the night I stopped and I have nothing but praise for it.

    Hi Everyone,

I hope your all well and everyone is still non smoking.

Well I've just been to the doctors via the library and loaned an Allen Carr book titled "The Only Way To Stop Smoking Permanently". So ill start having a read of this book tonight its quite thick and I've haven't read a book since I was school, ive never really been much a book reader. Should I start the book now or when ive actually stopped?

All went well at the doctors had my weight, height and blood pressure done all was ok and discussed my medical history etc. She sat with me and discussed my options, I pointed out I knew of a few people who had quit using a course of zyban and would like to give a go also.

To my horror she said we don't prescribe zyban here to quit smoking however I can try Champix. So ive got Champix when I was expecting Zyban im sure if im slightly disappointed.

She's discussed the side effects and etc. I've made another appointment for 2 weeks today to see how im getting on etc. *fingers and toes crossed*

It says my start date should be between day 8 and 14 max. When should I set my date for the best results. I was going to start my course tomorrow no time like the present lol

Sorry StClair but it is funny - one of the side effects is turning into an ape!!

    Ha ha - it's Champix.

    All the best.:rotfl:

It's supposed to be even more effective than Zyban so dont worry.

  • StClair, read the allen carr book while you're still smoking, the book probably advises you to do that.

    - well done for making that decision to give up and good luck to all of you.

Keep posting on here - I find the help, support and tips are invaluable. It also helps to know that there are other people who truly do know how you feel and understand what you are going through.

I've not been on for a few days, but I've just read all the recent posts and I've got to say that the support being given to each other on here at the moment is fantastic.

Good luck and well done to everyone.
