    Hi all

Day 13 for me, and I've had some really strong cravings for a cigarette today. It's been relatively painless up until now, so any ideas what's going on? I'll not give in to temptation, but I feel really irritable and ratty. I had hoped that with every passing day, it would just keep getting easier.....I've also been told that the urge to light up passes after five minutes, so why is the craving lingering?

    Promise I WON'T light up...

Tippytoes yes you will have days like that - I recall posting that walking home one day I felt like I could murder someone the craving was so bad and trying to lure me to buy some tobacco. Somehow I got home. It is a gradual process. Just try and remind yourself how pointless it will be to give in and then you have to start all over again.

To the poster who asked about weight gain, well I did gain 10 lbs I had lost while smoking and it was mainly due to replacing smoking with eating sweets, chocolates etc.

This can be avoided I am sure, but you have to make sure you don't eat instead of smoking and up your exercise, neither of which I did!

Still, there is always tomorrow and I have to say I am happier as a slightly plumper non smoker and also the restrictions on smoking are enough to make me never want to go back to it.

Did you hear about the non-smoking prison on the Isle of Wight? They said that the criminals are so worried about having to stop smoking that they are giving up their criminal activities. It's a powerful drug - nicotine. So we should all be very pleased with ourselves for overcoming its power.

    Hanx for the welcome :)

Not sure exactly when the big kick-off will be, but will be soon (by end of Jan I hope). Gives us chance to get back into the post-xmas routine (and remove the choccie mountain from the house of 'Jack to avoid substitution )

Will be back soon gang, and continued good luck to those who've already quit :)

2010 is finally here...yey! Last night I had my first night of drinking alcohol and not smoking, and it went ok. I didn't really feel like I was missing anything. I think I'm making progress.

Hope everyone has a fantastic, smoke-free New Year's Day.
