Thanks for your kind words, since my hiccup the other night I have been absolutely fine, and if anything it really put me off, the horrible dehyrated taste in my mouth was really something I didn't notice but that awful taste and the thought of it is really keeping my going, probably sounds a bit weird but this week anyways it the thought of that taste more than anything that's keeping going. Sorry I'll stop trying to explain that feeling anymore - I am confusing myself trying to explain what I mean!:rotfl:
You are all doing sooo well, blueisthecolour hope you feel more like yourself again soon, you've fairly gotten everything that's going at once, at least you want be making it worse by going outside in these conditions to have a fag.:A0 -
Thanks for all your wishes everyone, am still flu'd up and infected, worst luck, but good for not smoking and not spending, well, with the exception of all the cold and flu drugs and cough medicines I've had to buy.....
Glad everyone is doing well, day 9 for lots of us, a great achievement, big pats on the back for everyone!0 -
Jay Jay and Daleigha.. thank you for the good wishes.
As the day go by I'm feeling stronger and stronger. I know that you guys are going to be an inspiration for me... reinforcing all the positives to be gained from stopping smoking. I went to the doctors today and mentioned that I had given up smoking- she was so pleased with me- I felt really proud. Its nice when people recognise your achievements...it gives you that extra motivation, and you don't want to let anyone down.
I came back from the cinema just now, and almost skipped up the 2 sets of stairs to my apartment... and when I got to the top I was smiling because for the first time, I wasnt out of breath. If one week of not smoking can do that, think what
a) the damage I must have caused in the first place
b) how special my body is, that it can repair itself in this way (which I abused)
c) how much healthier I will be in one years time.
Just keep on thinking about all the plus points YOU have experienced since stopping... is it really worth giving up these benefits for a cigarette???0 -
Bring on day 100

Hi all queen vi, ah never worry, it's a pretty rotten chest infection, but it's nothing like they were when I smoked!!!! Yes, it was 10 years for me on Christmas Day and I was chuffed to bloomin bits at the achievement ......and that's what I'd love to hear all of you saying.... And you will!!!:j You're right about the "some good days, some bad" - everyone says exactly that - but - the main thing is we struggle through the not so good ones remembering that we've done just that before - and survived!
- mudgekin if I do you all good then I'm thrilled as I so want you to have what I've got, a peace of mind away from the worry of it all. I wonder if you'll set you smoker friend wondering whether she can do it too!!Wouldn't it be wonderful. Isn't that pink tongue a beautiful sight,
so quick to return too!
Hi again sillyme. I wondered last night whether hypnotherapy might just be the answer to your problem, isn't there a means whereby if you're unable to succeed you can get all/part of your money refunded? Some people swear by hypnotherapy, while for others it doesn't work, I guess only you can decide whether the chance is worth taking, though personally, I think I would! Meanwhile how about changing your ways of doing things and if white spirits affect you the least then can you stick to them alone for a while? Whatever you think you have the most chances with - try it/them and rif yourself of those blasted things!!!
Welcome to the thread x.sophie.x and congratulations on quitting! When do you quit or am I missing something?? As you're so young, please keep strong and never go back to those evil sticks that cause so much misery a little later in life. You won't have any real problems with your skin now, it's a little later that the aging starts to kick in. Go for you goal to have quit before turn 25 as from then on you'd find the perils of it all are on your mind almost 23 hours a day and it's NEVER worth it!!! If you think drink might cause a problem - keep away from it while you're vulnerable - as you'd hate yourself if you went back and needed to start all over again! I wish you all the luck you need!
Yet another great reason to stay free JayJay!!!!
Hi playa1406! Many people have had problems with the patches overnight as they progress and have done as you have and put a fresh one on the next day. Try to wean yourself from them at the earliest opportunity as, obviously, they're still putting 'nic' into your body. However, if it doesn't feel the right time, leave them on!!! I expect your friends are spurring you on more now partly because they know you need/want to give it up, also because quitting is far more the 'in thing' to do and certainly the more sensible!
Cheer up daleigha, after all you have a WHOLE week behind you to be proud of!!! Not being well has made you a bit low and the prospects of moving don't help, but you'll cope ok, it'll all fall into place. We moved soon after I'd given up and it almost set me back but I was darned if I was going to go through all THAT again!!! It all got done though and - I did succeed ...and so will you!!! As soon as you can, get on out into the big wide world again, though you're so lucky to have your mum and bro visit! So long as your OH supports you ...drag him on in too!!! Each day is another day's progress so please ....leave the "what ifs" behind!! You'll be ok with us all on your tail!
Don't worry kalojac, I think we can understand what you mean. So pleased to see you're pushing ahead regardless, very well done!
Well done to BlueIsTheColour and everyone else who is on day 9 or beyond, it's taken so much willpower and determination to get to where you are now. So keep striving to get to that goal and taste the sweetness of success, as it's utterly fantastic just as you can all imagine !!!
Well done graeme!!! I just love your attitude, you'll soon get the fortnight under your belt ....everyone else too!!!x.sophie.x wrote: »As the day go by I'm feeling stronger and stronger. Coming to the end of my first week smoke free!:j0 -
Big up to you Liberty! Just think - you never have to go through that first week ever again! It feels good, doesn't it?
Daliegha - just think how nice it will be to be a non-smoker in your new place - a lovely new start!
JayJay - I have three 'kids' at home who all smoke. Last time I gave up was because I wanted to set a good example to them. When they didn't stop I gave up giving up as well. This time it's all for me! They are being great and smoking in the conservatory or outside but I'm really hoping that, now they are older, they will forget about the 'cool smoking kudos' and join me. None of them can really afford it and now they can't 'pinch a fag' off their old mum either!
I've recently had my kitchen redecorated and the change to my old 'smoking den' is unbelievable! That's how I want to keep it too!
Well done everyone - stay strong :T ! xxx0 -

My DD2 has given up with me as well, she has finally twigged that she can buy clothes with her money rather than looking cool puffing on a fag round the alley - I'm hoping that DD1 will follow our lead (or maybe her sisters lead) it wouldn't be 'cool' to follow mum would it
I've got the beginnings of a cold coming - is this something to do with stopping smoking, everyone who's given up smoking seems to be getting a cold or flu - is it how the body reacts or just the time of year - one good thing, it hasn't gone to my chest (yet)
Good luck everyone - keep up the good work :T :TSmoke free 01/01/09 :TPaD since 10/12/08 - Dec-£46 / Jan-£39.88CC1 Mint [strike]£1215.39[/strike] - £896.63£2 savers club #82 £4 (banked £20)0 -
