Wahey, actually had a good nights sleep!:j Might be down to the Kalms and half a gallon of horlicks! LOL
I still crave cigs sometimes and part of me wishes I hadnt given up and is having a sulk! LOL I am munching my way through all the goodies meant for the kids lunchboxes!
Well done to everyone who has made it through another smoke free day!:TAnd good luck with staying free today!:D0 -
good morning everyone another day another battle
the big one for me today seeing my best friend always smoked at each others houses
Blueisthecolour and daleigha hope your feeling better today0 -
Morning all
Yay another no smoking day dawns :j
Last night I felt rough and had a really really restless night but lived through it with no cigs to tell the taleMaybe it was because I ran out of wine gums:rotfl:
Day 4 now and it seems like a lifetime. DH is doing really good also but he is much more laid back than I am, always is tho, I tend to be the volatile one of the pair. I think this is doing wonders for mum also, she feels really bad about smoking in front of us so her evening consumption is cutting right down. No doubt as soon as we go to bed she puffs like a steam train.
I haven't had the chance to get the ice pops yet but will stock up at the weekend. They sound a great idea.
Have a great no smoking day all0 -

No Vi! It is not another battle but today will be another VICTORY!
Best of luck, my best friend smokes (but I'm working on her) and it can be quite hard. Bake some cakes or biscuits with her to go with your coffee and keep you both busy!
Will be thinking of you x.0 -
well done all keep going!!
this is my 8th day of no smoking and i feel really proud of myself never thought i'd manage it. i think we should all treat ourselves with the money we've all saved or i should i say put on you're fav dvd in front of fire snuggled to someone or something and relax ( true money saving way)
keep going all0 -
Hello all. A newbie to this giving up smoking lark.
None of my friends smoke now really, and I do feel completely stupid for still smoking - they all look at me like I'm an idiot for continuing to smoke when everyone now knows how dreadful it is for you.
I so so want to give up smoking but I'm in a funny situation.
I don't smoke other than when I have a drink in my hand. If I don't drink, I won't smoke - if I didn't have a drink for 6 months, I wouldn't even feel a murmur of an urge for a fag. In fact I'd find the thought repulsive - BUT. As soon as a have even a sip of a drink I become like a mad woman, gasping for a fag. Awful. It's a total psychological association and it's almost impossible to break - I haven't managed it in 20 years.
So. I've decided to try to go tee-total and not drink for as much of Jan as I can. And thereby not smoking either. I haven't had a drink since NYE and so haven't had a fag now for 8 days - don't remotely want one either.
But how how OH HOW FOR GOD'S SAKE do I stop the total desperation and gaggingness for one when I DO have a drink?0 -
Hi all you fellow non smokers
:hello:
Sorry I haven't been around much the last few days .. my laptop has broken at home and really REALLY busy at work (year end  ) so haven't had much time to post (I have had little reads when i've had the chance though so I know you are all doing really well :T :T )
Got past my fiftyDay-i-versary (yeah I know, I just made that one up)
and saw the nurse again yesterday for more of the little blue miracle pills. Well over half way through the normal time for taking them already, though I will ween off them for a few weeks after the 12 weeks is up rather than stop completely so as not to make the same mistake again!
Sillyme ..I have a friend who's exactly the same as that, claims he's a non smoker but when ever we're out for a drink or at a festy or anything there he is sparking up  .. I used to be jealous of how he could control it and, like you, not smoke for weeks or months without any probs!
My only real suggestion would be maybe get one of those inhaler thingy's .. it seems for you to be very much an association thing rather than an actual nicotine addiction so have one of those in your hand/mouth may make the actual need for a ciggie less apparent?
For those of you with flu/colds/bugs just remember that as a smoker these things tend to last for longer and linger for quite a while after the main bug has gone... i've only had one cold since I gave up and usually it'd last a week or so and still be pretty rough into the second week but this one only lasted a couple of days!
Keep at it everyone you are all brilliant :A :A
P.S. for those feeling a little stressed maybe get this done up as a t-shirt to warn others:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
Goodness aren't we all doing well:j Thanks, Sue UU for the PM with all the tips, trying to follow them all, so it won't give me time to think about ciggies! Suffering from the vivid dreams (am on patches) but small price to pay for being able to go upstairs without gasping and reaching for inhaler. Yes, I'm asthmatic as well, which makes smoking even more of a stupid thing to do, just shows what an addiction it can be. I decided to stop when DS asked me if I wanted to see my grandchildren (6 and 4) grow up...
Have found nice little gizmo on iGoogle which counts days/hours/mins smoke free and tells you how much you've saved - nice to see both counters going up! Noted that asda pharmacies have patches at half price at the moment, if any of you buying your own rather than on prescription. My asda sold out, so we're not alone in this struggle;)
Be back soon, gotta go and nag OH to stop:rotfl:0 -
Hi all - hope you are all having happy smoke-free days - my reason today for not smoking came to me about 1 hour after I woke - I had defrosted my car and had it lovely and warm ready for my drive to the station - normally I would have a ciggie on the way and have to open the window to let the nasty smoke out along with the lovely warm air of the heater...... today I travelled to the station in a lovely warm car breathing in my vanilla air freshner (its an old one so the sicklyness of the vanilla has worn off)
Keep up the good word everyone - day 8 for me (£40 saved) :T :T :TSmoke free 01/01/09 :TPaD since 10/12/08 - Dec-£46 / Jan-£39.88CC1 Mint [strike]£1215.39[/strike] - £896.63£2 savers club #82 £4 (banked £20)0 -
Thanks everyone, your positive posts are always great, I am still ill
Went to the Dr yesterday who told me I have bad flu, a severe chest infection and sinusitis too so thats why am feeling so bad :rotfl: Hopefully the antibiotics they've given me will start to work soon as am fed up of being ill and coughing like an old man now.....
Everyone is doing great it seems, big pats on the back all round, day 8 for me, and yes since the germs took hold have had no desire for any nic whatsoever!! Yippee!! Lets hope it stays that way when I'm well!
Keep it up everyone, you're all doing great, think of all that money saving and better health :T0
