    Hi All

Can I join in? I'm rather ashamed to say that DH and I smoked 20-30 a day depending on what was happening. This is our 2nd day with no cigs. I wanted to try champix but my Gp won't prescribe it so on Sunday I popped into boots and grabbed a couple of packs of Niquitin clear and had our last cigs on Sunday night.

Monday evening I was like the Tazmanian Devil when I came home and discovered that GH lad left the freezer door open a bit on Sunday evening. Today I am a lot more tranquil but god, right now I could kill for a cig. Elderly mum lives with us and she smokes and I am so so tempted to ask her for just one puff.................I shall resist

Well done :T You don't need it, you don't want it, you can beat it! Don't let that monster control you its a demon (the nicotine monster lol). You are greater than it and can defeat it.

You will get the temptations like we all do now and again but they just last for a cupla minutes, in those few minutes do something constructive.

This is the beginning of a brand new life, smoke free, your health & wealth will greatly improve and things will only get better, you will enjoy life much more without the ciggies. :j

It's been 50 odd days since I've given up, I feel much more alive and I was a 10 pack a day smoker, I've roughly saved about £150+ already in those odd 50 days. Think about it this way would you pull out a £5 from your wallet and set it alight and smoke it? Crazy when you think about it that way, that's what we were indirectly doing!

10 packs a day??? 200 cigarettes every day? Wow - that is going some. You must have had one on the go constantly, from the second you woke up.

You must have saved over £2000 easily, maybe even £3000 in those 50 days. Good for you

Great news queen vi!! You sound so much better today, if you get another that's not so good, look back to today and know that it only gets better - and that much IS so true!

Hiya aging biker, thanks for coming back to give and helping others see there really is a great light at the end of the tunnel!! You made brilliant success and isn't it ever worth it.

Good thoughts about the losing weight Liberty if you think it's best, I still think the extra exercise and fresh air will make your sleeping problems so MUCH better. It'll possibly be a good deal better for you when you're back at work.

Very well done Moon Rose77 - 3 weeks smoke free is a great amount of time and just one more week til that all important MONTH!!!! What an amount saved in cigs and money - and what can we say about the life saved!!!!

Brilliant news all round Jay_Jay!!! Though maybe another great, and possibly better, reason to think of another day is how much better your health will now be as a result for kicking Mr Nic's butt!!! Hehehe!

Well done graeme! Very wise indeed not to become complacent for one moment, though always give yourself a pat on the back - as you certainly deserve that!!

I quite agree daleigha, after all if you're coughing half the night than you're not being able to get a good night's sleep. Here's hoping it'll soon improve a lot so you can get the sleep you need. Still, as you said yesterday, at least your lungs are being cleared out!

You're welcome themammy, I was pretty much like you, but the difference in feeling such great benefit so soon whilst exercising was amazing! Keep coming back themammy!

Hi and welcome to the thread mudgekin! Please don't feel ashamed, the main thing is that you're both now going to do something about it and we'll all be wishing you well!!! Please DO resist your Mum's cigs as it's never worth it, though I sincerely hope she doesn't smoke indoors?!!! Come on the thread when you can and let us know your feelings and how you're both getting on, it really does help, The very best of luck to you both and stock up on the Ice Pops to suck as well as Clementines or any sort of oranges as the Vit C is marvellous for the cravings, water too don't forget!! Get plenty of exercise and fresh air too, it all helps so very much. Naomi's right about the PM which I hope you soon read or have. A great and very supportive post nikzGfx!!! By the way nikzGfx - did you really mean 10 packs a day or a pack of 10 per day?

Hi again queen vi, so pleased you had such an active day both for your mind and body. It doesn't sound stupid about the cough at all, it's just how it takes us all as individuals. Maybe you haven't too much on the lungs anyway, or maybe it's affecting your throat more at the moment due to dryness. No doubt it'll soon pass so nothing to worry about. Have a very good night's sleep again.

All the very best to EVERYONE for tomorrow (today), keep active, keep up with the water, OJs or clementines or any fruit and try to get plenty of exercise. :j

Morning all and thanks for having me here. I look forward to getting to know you all

Day 3 now :j Woke up last night about midnight and instead of having a cig as I would usually do I chewed on a couple of wine gums instead and went back to bed and promptly fell asleep again.

Sue thanks for the great PM and yep dear old mum will be smoking indoors, sadly she is 83 and frail and smoking is actually as she said one of the few pleasures she has left. I wouldn't ask her to go outside as it is way too cold for her atm. What I have done though is ordered an air purifier which will sit beside her and hopefully get rid of some of the fumes. To be honest, having her smoking is a small price to pay for still having her with us. At the end of the day, I can't totally avoild every smoker for the rest of my life in case I am tempted so I'm looking at it as somthing that will just make me stronger because if I can resist a cig while surrounded by it, I can resist at any time.

I have become a tea fiend and am drinking gallons of the stuff. It is very weak tho and as DH reminds me, my tea is like cat wee. No sugar either and just a splash of milk.

I'm quite upbeat this morning. Woke up and had a transitory pang of craving but it passed really fast. Got off the train and walked with a friend down to the hospital and all the way down she was smoking and it didn't bother me one bit. I feel kind of proud of that. Days seem to be ok as I only had 2 at lunchtime but as soon as I am on the way home then the cravings hit and Im retreating to my bed early at night.

DH is doing the same as you Queen Vi he seems to be clearing his throat a lot

Today I will not smoke :D

    have a good one all

    Hi All,

Can I join your little gang too. Haven't officially quit smoking yet. The deal my hubby and I made was that once all of the duty frees have run out then we are giving up smoking. We have two packs left so I think that after Thursday Evening we should be well on our way to nicotine withdrawal. Many reasons to quit but the main one is that I have a 10 month old son, and TBH I don't actually enjoy smoking anymore, I just do it because I am an addict.

Can you still get nicotine replacement presciptions from your doctor so that you only pay for the cost of the presciption rather than the full extortionate cost that they charge in chemists?

Good luck to all that are going to quit and well done  to all those that have.

    xx

    good afternoon all!! :D

themammy - when i quit for a few months about 5 1/2 years ago i used to walk home from work every day and the difference was amazing!! i wasnt wheezing half way into the journey!! cant wait to get that back again this time!!

hi mudgekin!! :hello: well done on making it through the first couple of days!! just think how much money you'll be saving with both you and hubby quitting!! :T and better to be drinking tons of tea than smoking tons of cigs!! plus your tea doesnt sound too unhealthy - at least you dont have three sugars in every cup!! :D thats a good way to look at your mum smoking in the house - it'll make you stronger!! im so scared to go out with my smoking friends - i may become a recluse!!

queen vi and sue-uu - thanks for the well wishes!! :D im still really ill - its definitely the flu ive got, but on the plus side i most definitely wouldnt be smoking with the flu anyway!! :o OH took the day off yesterday to be my nurse - it was lovely!! i hate no appetite, and certainly no inclination to go to the kitchen and make myself something!! i have my trusty bag of clementines beside me on the bed!! theres not much chance of me putting on weight this week, but im sure i'll probably make up for it when i get better haha!!

i think nikzGfx meant 10 cigs a day!! either way, 10 packs or 10 cigs, its still fab that youve made it almost two months!! :T

yeah sue-uu, im hoping by the time my leaving do comes round i'll be strong enough to resist!! plus only a couple of people in work smoke (what an anti social habit it is!! ;) ) and i dont even know if they'll be coming, so there shouldnt be too much temptation!!

Hi goodeys!! good luck with the quitting!! :D i think you can get them on prescription, you may as well ask, as it would save a fortune!!

Och Liberty9515, you'll have a decent nights sleep soon!! and think how lovely it'll be when you do have it!! did you try the Kalms yet?

my 'one good thing about not smoking' for today is the amount of money i have in my purse that wouldnt normally be there!! and if i hadnt had to buy flu stuff i would have had even more!! but its still fab!!

good luck everyone, and have a good day!! only two more days until the weekend lol!! :D

Sorry I should of worded it better, I meant a pack of 10 a day. 10 ciggies. There is no way in hell could I of smoked 100 fags a day! 10 was more than enough on a daily basis, most I've probs smoked in a day is about 20 that's on days when I use to go clubbing every week.

    Sorry for the confusion.
