5 weeks now! So pleased with myself :T .

Still taking the tablets and dreaming the dreams! Strangest one I had was a bath full of vegetables! I'm going to weight watchers as well and I think it had something to do with the soups I've been making!

Well done Joop - I can't wait till I can say 'weeks' instead of 'days' that I have packed up for and hopefully I want to stop counting some day.

In reference to your dreams !! if it turns out it was your cooking that made you dream about being in a bath full of vegetables can you give me the recipe cause that sounds like a fun dream :D - better than the broken sleep I am getting now!

    evening all!! :hello:

so good to see that no one has fallen off the wagon - well done everyone!! :j

i have slept so badly over the last two nights, and today was my first day back to work after the holidays so i was so tired!! plus i think i have the flu - i had to leave work at lunchtime and come home, i felt so grim  had a good sleep and packed a load of beechams into me, so hopefully i'll be able to go back tomorrow - im leaving on the 23rd so have so much to do!! blueisthecolour - im totally the same ATM - the thoughts of having a smoke is making me want to vomit!!

i also have the most vile chesty cough ever - disgusting. cant wait for that to clear up - i sound like an old hag who smokes 80 a day lol!! how ironic that i get the manky cough after quitting!! at least my lungs are having a good clearout!!

i also cant wait until i can say 'weeks' instead of 'days', and better still 'years'!!

im going out for my leaving do on the 24th, and im kind of dreading it as i wanted to avoid going out and drinking for as long as possible, but i do have to go out sometime, so i may as well get it over and done with!! i might just drive and not drink and then there definitely wont be any temptation!!

i was chatting to one of my colleagues this morning who had obvoisuly just had a fag - the smell was putrid, and just reminded me that i NEVER want to smell like that again!!

keep up the good work everyone - we are all going through the same thing, and its great being able to come on here and support eachother!! :D:D

You are all doing really well. Just keep telling yourselves that you are NOT going to be controlled by that little white stick.

I know only too well that the thought of giving up is easy when it is a date in the future, but actually doing it and sticking at it is very hard.

Just look on smoking as an old friend who you have had lots of good times with, but it is now time to go your separate ways.

It does get easier, but it does take time and everyone I know who has stopped (includng me) has put on weight:eek: It is inevitable that you just pick more.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

Good work everyone. I've had the cold for the last few days doh, when I use to smoke that white stick even controlled me during the times I where ill, that's how much power it has over your body, I know some can control it and not smoke when ill but for some reason I couldn't. (Silly me!).

Been eating me oranges and taking my vitamin C which we need.

I hate the smell of smoke now it's awful don't know how I could stand it when I was smoking.

Lovely to see you helping here Feedumall!!! It helps everyone so much, so whenever you have some spare time....!!! :j

Hi Jayess and a warm welcome to the thread and to MSE! For your first time on a Forum you're doing very well and for quitting smoking you're doing even better!!! It won't help with your OH smoking even if he doesn't smoke anywhere near you, it's a mind thing - but hopefully you could well encourage him to give it all up as well and keep you both healthy!:j

Have a good read of the PM and take note of the glasses of water to help you feel full as well as to help cease the cravings. Likewise the fresh Orange Juice will do the same as the Vit C is great for fighting against the remainders of nicotine. Sucking Ice Pops is another excellent remedy, especially as they last a fair while. Peeling and eating Clementines or anything like it is really good too, so many on here have found all of those to be their saving graces! Fruit doen't put any calories on so eating any of it will take up time.

Blueisthecolour, I do sympathise with you with having the lurgy, mine started before New Year and I now have a chest infection too, first I've had for years, but not half as bad as when I was a smoker!!! Good luck to you and your OH with him trying to give up too!! You have so many tips of what to take and when so let him know them all ....and with your luck and being a wonderful role model to him we may well hear that BOTH of you have QUIT for life!!! All the very best to him from us all please!

Excellent news graeme, 7,200 minutes without a cigarette is a LONG time, very well done indeed!!! :TYou also sound as though you've 'seen the light' and aren't stopping quitting for love nor money!!! Keep up that strength and you'll reach your goal!!!

Hi Naomi, I'm fairly sure that Waspy stopped smoking before the due time as cigs tasted so horrible once the Champix had kicked in. The very best of luck whatever you decide! Never mind about not being able to save the money as you need to pay back what you owe, but oh what great health you'll have by the time you've done so!!!

So sorry to hear about your dog's leg MoonRose77, I hope he's soon much better. Well done to you for going over your 10.000 step count, that will certainly help keep the pounds off. Keep it up!!

Brilliant news joop about your 5 weeks already!!! Congratulations!! :TYou've done so very, very well and certainly should be so very pleased with yourself. Very well done indeed!!!

Hi Jay_Jay, well done for changing that routine! It's amazing the difference the slightest change can make, look for more! I was thrilled to read that your ex smoking buddies had been so supportive of your decision to quit! They're welcome to turn out in that cold!!!

Daleigha, sorry to hear you're feeling so rough, but I hope it soon clears up, though you're looking at in the right light with your lungs getting a good clear out. Amazing how quickly the smell from others comes back to us so soon, especially so disgusting!!! Don't worry too much about your leaving 'do' the 24th is a little way off yet and you'll have at lest 3 weeks 'under your belt' by then. A good idea to drive so you can't drink, don't let any 'kind' soul deter from that either!!

What a wonderful time of year to focus on queen vi!!! That's the way to keep yourself in check, you can even (if you wish) make plans to alter beds etc in the garden. For now concentrate on early spring cleaning maybe? Who cares if we're not there yet - at least it'll keep you active and your mind on other things. Clear out cupboards, rooms etc, whatever you think of to take up the time - do it. You're helping yourself so much, that's the main thing - very well done!!!

Another great day gone to count everyone! Each of you are doing amazingly, keep it up!!!

Jay-jay, daliegha and Queen Vi, the broken nights can be a real problem. I'm still getting really vivid dreams; not nightmares as such but sometimes quite disturbing and real feeling so you didn't want to go back to sleep. I have tried Kalms before when I was suffering from anxiety when I was still smoking and they seemed to help me get off to sleep. They are a natural remedy you can buy from Mr T or chemists.

Hope you get a better night tonight.

You're doing so well - really!

Hi Everyone, Great to see so many new non smokers. I too gave up smoking with Champix. It is weird cos I thought they changed the taste of my cigarettes they made them taste like menthol ones. I have now been smoke free for 17 weeks and feel very confident about staying that way. I think taking Champix also made me despise the smell of smoke which is odd cos I don't even think I could smell it before. If I can smell it on another person it repulses me. That alone will keep me on the right road.

When I stopped taking the Champix the sleeping returned to normal and the dreams disappeared.

Good luck everyone hope you all sleep well tonight.
Smoke Free since 13th September £1400 better off
