Yes it does - I've heard somewhere that a craving only lasts 3 mins - the first couple of days seemed easier for me, but Sundays are boring days anyway so I'm just hoping it's the Sunday feeling that's making it a bad day for me - can't wait til the Monday Morning Feeling :eek:Smoke free 01/01/09 :TPaD since 10/12/08 - Dec-£46 / Jan-£39.88CC1 Mint [strike]£1215.39[/strike] - £896.63£2 savers club #82 £4 (banked £20)0 -
My first day off the cigs! Not sure how I feel about it really!:( Its been a long day and it isnt over yet!
Best of luck to everyone who is giving up this year!:D0 -
For those who haven't already I recommend reading Allen Carr's Easy Way To Stop Smoking, I gave up last year and was struggling, then was recommended that book, like the many positive reviews on Amazon, it truly does help you in a lot of fantastic ways.
Smoking does not relax you, nor does it help you concentrate, it does not relieve boredom and certainly does not take away stresses of life.
When giving up smoking you are not giving up anything but gaining positive achievements.
That book has certainly made me escape from that awful drug addiction (Yes! Smoking is a drug addiction, nicotine is a pain in the a***!).
Good luck to those trying to escape your life will certainly be better without that stick of pain.Smoke-Free since 15/11/08

Good luck to you all - you don't need patches or drugs, not if you REALLY want to stop. Nicotine is out of your body in just a few days, so why prolong the addiction by adding it via patches every day? I don't think it is the nicotine that you crave, it is the ritual of holding the ciggie and puffing away.
I have now gone past the year mark without smoking. I really could have enjoyed a smoke a few times over the past week - why can't we just have one on special occasions? (but of course we can't, we either smoke or don't smoke).
It is nice to have beaten it, but have to admit I do still miss it and when people light up in the street, I move closer to have a sniff as I still like the smell:rotfl:
Keep at it, you are not allowed to enjoy a smoke out anyway and are made to feel like a leper, so you might as well quit and save the money.:DStopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
Evening everyone, I hope you all had a nice day and a smoke free one!
I started on the champix today. I think I'm going to pick day 12 as my "stop" day but I need to make an appointment to see the practice nurse on Friday to get my next prescription so I'll talk to her more then.
I would also recommend Allen Carr too... even though it didn't work for me. I read the book twice and have been to 4 sessions. And no I'm not made of money, I used my Tesco vouchers to pay as it's £220 for the first session. However, this method has worked for millions of people. I must have a really stubborn brain :rotfl:

I didn't set my stop day until I was 2-3 days in on Champix - I wanted to see what it did first! :rotfl:I then decided Day 9 was stop day - and actually stopped the night before, in a very sudden move! :j I'd gone out for a ciggie with others while at work cos I was bored, had maybe 5 drags and then just said "you know what, that tastes disgusting. That's it, I've stopped smoking", then I gave my 1 remaining cigarette to one of the smokers, and then my lighter.
I had found in the few days leading up to my stop day that I was getting nothing from smoking, sometimes it tasted vile, other times it didn't. I kept doing it because I could! But then when it came to it, it was easy. I'll be a month off them tomorrow
Best of luck - Champix has been fab for me :TSmober since 05/12/2008 :j
