  • Hi Mandy12 - how are you getting on with your plastic ciggy - I fancied one of them - that way i could sit and 'smoke' at my desk at work - I'd even get it a little ashtray though - good luck and welcome aboard

Forget that one Jay_Jay, she means she's using an inhaler whereby you use still inhale a certain amount of nicotine each time. No doubt she'll soon wean herself off of those. Now get rid of your little visions and go back to the real world!!! ;)

Marvellous news queen vi, you've made my day! :D

  • hello again! can i firstly say thanks to everyone for welcoming me and to sue for sending me a pm i was really really happy to get that as was feeling really um..not happy for a better word (my first smoke free day) and when i came on the site i was instantly greeted with a message saying well done, you can do it, that really lifted my spirits so thankyou sue!!
secondly, if i was not so lazy i may have possibly walked to the shop to get more fags but i thought about being able to come on here and say "yeah, i did it, day one down" so i didnt.
The weirdest/hardest thing i found was finding something to fill the gap or changing something that you would generally associate with smoking, i.e this morning i got the girls their breakfast and where i would normally nip out in the garden for a quick one um... 3! i was left walking around thinking of something to do. So i turned out a load of old stuff, snapped it and every time i wanted a ciggie i sat on the comp and put a load of stuff on ebay.
so, apologies for the waffling, am really proud ive lasted at least one day, am glad its nearly bedtime tho, and am looking forward to tomorrow.

hows everyone elses days going? well done to every one who has just given up, and congrats to everyone that have given up!
a quick question to everyone: how much are you saving by not smoking?
were you shocked by how much you were spending?

    okay speak soon

Oh OK "Jay_Jay crawls back into the real world where she doesn't need any pretend ciggies or ashtrays" I'm just getting ready to face work tomorrow - they have already shown their 'doubt' at me giving up so I know I have got all the "yeah, lets see how long it lasts this time" comments....

Well done ShellShell - day one over and done with - I'm going to save £5 a day towards my daughters driving licence, test and lessons !! got quite a while to save - I'm gonna need it - price of them lessons - keep up the good work if you can do one day - you can do two and so on and so on and so on

Don't you worry about THEM:mad: Jay_Jay, if they had any compassion at all then they'll keep quiet and let you get on with life smoke-free. Unlike many of them, you had the courage to QUIT and with luck you may well encourage more of them to join your ranks. They are the weak ones - you have great strength and are proving it by caring more about your young lass!!! :T

Hi again shellshell, it's wonderful to see you and know we had some influence in stopping you from walking down the shops for evil sticks! Just picture us like this :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: marching behind you,I hope it works and does the trick!!!

You are so welcome to the PM, I send one to everyone who joins (whether they like it or not!!) and if it can help a little bit along with the fantastic help from these boards then we will ALL be so very, very happy!!! Try and do something totally different at the worse times for you, such as after giving the girls their breakfast. Pop up and make the beds - anything to divert you from old habits. Don't forget to have a glass of water or an OJ too, both are brilliant for you! Don't forget clementines, most use them on here and by the time you've peeled them and eaten them all thoughts of the other things have disappeared!!! Ice pops too are wonderful, do try them.

We're always here for you, at least we try hard to be. So just write down all that you feel and really off-load yourself, it'll help so much. Best wishes in quitting!

    Sue

Good to hear the thread is a great support to you queen vi, I'm sure most of the others feel exactly the same, I know Blue is for sure. Brace yourself with Waspy's dreams mind!!!

Well it's about 4 days gone now Graeme and oh how well you're doing!!! Keep it up and get the calendar, if it helps you that's the main thing.

Congratulations Waspy!!! That is a wonderful amount of time, you're doing brilliantly!!! Yes, we had a really lovely Christmas thanks, not a bad New Year either but I caught a rotten cold before NYE and now have a chest infection! Thank Heavens I don't smoke!!!:j

Thanks so much for coming to the thread and telling us your story Sam! nikzGfx! It's wonderful of people such as you to take the time to help people through and to show what was the best way for you, many thanks and congratulations to you both!!!

Hi Jay_Jay, you're the first one to say about the ironing ciggies, but those ones (or not) affected me too. On the second time I moved the ironing board into another room away from anywhere that an ash tray could be rested on and it was much better! You have a marvellous attitude towards your own quitting and to the others in their struggles - keep up that great way with you JJ!!!! Have just read about the sausage burning fiasco whilst 'chatting' to Graeme - thanks for that great giggle Jay_Jay!!!

Hi Blueisthecolour! So sorry to hear you're sounding rough, though could it be your saving grace perhaps?!! Don't worry about the shop no having clementines as any other type of oranges will do. A lovely cold night to keep you inside tonight whilst others, as JJ says, are standing outside freezing their wattsits off !!!

-daleigha, this sentence is SO good to read - and know uyou mean! "I would be sooo ashamed to come on here and tell you all I had had a ciggie, and feel the 'virtual disapproval'!!" Brilliant to see you confessed to the family, that you cracked the 'coming home' ciggie too!!! Great news! Try to do more indoor exercise if you can, how about a DVD to have folk 'with you' working those pounds off, I used 3 and it worked!!!

    - graeme "finding it harder as I go on" can often happen, though it's usually (as you're already finding out) a battle of the mind v the body, always listen to the mind and see that other nicotine alien within you shriveling more and more each day!!!! One thing I do know is that you reach a certain day and you'll find the little blighter died!!!

Yes it does - I've heard somewhere that a craving only lasts 3 mins - the first couple of days seemed easier for me, but Sundays are boring days anyway so I'm just hoping it's the Sunday feeling that's making it a bad day for me - can't wait til the Monday Morning Feeling

I found the same thing with the first Sunday Jay_Jay, it's far better when you back into the normal weekly routine, but I'm sure you'll find next Sunday will be far better as you're more accustomed to it all.

Congratulations on starting to quit Liberty 9515! Go through the PM and you have us all here to help you through it all. Whatever you're mood, come on here and tell us how you feel, it'll do you a power of good and give us chance to hopefully help you. All the very best of luck.

Hi Melbury and many congratulations on that year!!! I used to like a whiff of smoke, but it didn't last long before it really disgusted me and still does. I just feel so sorry for those who, as yet, cannot give up, or don't want to ...or think they can't!

I'm not answering your last sentence Naomi, by far the most sensible way! Well done on the beginning of the champix, good luck this time! ...."do your sentence my dear and then come over to the light side" Great way of putting it Jay_Jay.

Strengthen that daily resolve each morning folks - you want to QUIT so you can have great health and good wealth! Don't forget the water, OJs, ice pops and clementines and take up a new hobby or clean the house from top to bottom - daily of course!!! :D All the very best EVERYONE!!! :T
